  • not in to ghost but that sounds like gun fire!

  • If anyone knows what the different drum rythms mean... is this drum beat / evp a message to the soldiers. I guess I am asking a re enactor a question...

  • drum roll

  • I couldn't hear a thing!

  • I believe you. I know people that went there on a trip, and heard soldiers walking.

  • freaky

  • That sounds like multiple drums somewhat far away. That'd be a shitload of effort to go through to fake it so I say it's authentic

  • I was in the same area last month and recorded what sounded like multiple cannon or musket fire. The sounds seemed to be coming from far away.

  • Hey for all you guys know it could have even been the sounds of ghostly gun shots in the distants??

  • I didn't see or hear any thing

  • I don't see why you couldn't catch drums on an EVP. There have been many instances of other unexplainable musical instruments, guitars, pianos, organs. Why not drums?

  • @sandorsbox Ive heard drums there

  • eerie. theres several ghost hunters episodes where music is heard through EVP. these soldiers just dont realize they are dead, i guess.

  • If someone thinks someone's EVP is false, then BFD, not losing sleep over it lol, ya know? If anything, people need to start calling out the shit state the United States Of America is in with unemployment etc.

  • @testfoecho Don't sweat it bro. Briankey1960 is going around to several EVP videos posted on YouTube and saying "It's too obvious it's fake" to several of them. Dude's on user:dafgoat's page harassing a Grandmother for chrisake's.

  • That was AWSOME!!!! One of the BEST EVPs I have EVER heard! And THAT'S the truth!!

  • @testfoecho I have been to Gettysburg yrs ago with my son, husband, mother and other family and we were there from early am til a little past dusk and I can DEFINITELY tell you WITHOUT a DOUBT that it is VERY HAUNTED there... I took LOTS of pics and when we came home and I had them developed, I got MANY "orbs" and many other "anomalies" in our pics... let the HATERS and non believers rant on, maybe if they went there they would have simliar experiences... dont know... some ppl are more intune.

  • i think its a good evp...and yes EVP. EVP do not only have to consist of voices. One comment was that metal was scarce and seldom had snare wires. Key word...SELDOM not NEVER. This could have been one of the SELDOM drums ringing out through time. Lets just keep an open mind. Either way its cool.

  • @Tamaslammer

there was no reenactment going on

if you REALLY have ears you need to really LISTEN

  • Dear sir&mam Hi my name is rob,Olson I am a fan of the Gettysburg battle and the civil war, If you go back ask col,Chamberlin Now,general, Chamberlin of 20th maine Will respond to you? Have you seen Gettysburg the movie? I love it " I'm from canada, And wish I was there with you that day I belive it's haunted From r.Olson
  • @Tamaslammer ...on the drums you have...they were much more new and crisp sounding then the old ones you have im sure..when they were new and not over 100 years old..and even if you put new skines on them you are useing skines that are new and way better then what they had...did they use the snare? thats my ? .....i thought they just had a reg drum...and in the vid he made,it sounds like a snare

  • it sounds pretty cool... BUT there is one problem. ALL (both Union and Confederate) musicians (on Little Round Top) were ordered to go to nearby field hospitals to assist surgeons with amputations. There were not any musicians on Little Round Top before, during or after the battle. They were all too busy assisting the surgeons with the dying men.I am pretty sure what you caught was a reenactment. I've been there 100s of times... I am a Civil War Historian, my area of concentration is Gettysburg.

  • Hello,

There is a great new book out titled: GETTYSBURG… OTHER TIMES

It is a great page-turning read and full of intrigue and revelation.

You can get your copy from my YouTube site (GETTYSBURGbook) or search Amazon or eBay.

  • sounds like an 1800-1900s snare drum to me. It is a typical Civil War pattern. - 1 - and a - e - a 4 Also in DRUM TAB ( o - o o - o - o o )

(If you are a drummer, you will know this pattern)

  • I have a really good feeling that the sound is a drummer boy playing a few rolls on the snare. Personally I play drums and the sound defiantly sounds like the snare drum.

  • I'm not an expert by all means, but it kind of sounds like musket fire to me. Nice post.

  • Could be real. When I was there a few days ago I got gunshots and cannon shots on recording. They are in my video on my page.

  • i think i here it in the begining im not sure

  • Interesting sound. Being a paranormal researcher for many years, and also a sound enthusiast, and former hunter, I might bring up couple of other view points that you may consider. First thing that came to mind before I even read your description was that it sounds like a squirrel. They will bound from tree to tree sort of skipping on the dried leaves. The skeptical researcher in me says it could be a manufactured sound. Yes, you can catch drums as evp. Just some thoughts.

  • Maybe. I am a drummer and it does have a certain cadence to it.

  • drums??? nice

  • @testfoecho

(...and later that year : D)

Well don't get me wrong.... I'm a huge paranormal fan too, and i really do hope it's a real drum corps from the past. That would be the coolest thing ever.

  • Tamaslammer, you have to remember he's using a camera, that appears to not be HD, which can easily pick up sounds on a higher pitch.

  • @testfoecho Yeah, I remember shady. Don't mind him. He's someone who's vastly immature and goes around youtube posting stupid comments to be an ass.

As for the video, it does sound like a drum and there has been drums heard in civil war paranormal recordings before. It's usually a residual haunting.

  • it does sound like a snare drum

  • I heard this exact same drum cadence in the Slaughterpen about 5 years ago, it was about dawn, and it was exactly as you recorded....awesome validation, thank you for posting.

  • sounds either like drums or musket fire.

  • sounds like drums to me too. Nice capture.

  • sounds like a drum to me too. Nice. Do you have any more?

  • jup, wrong drumsound.

What pleasure do you have out of hoaxing peole ?

  • Interesting.

  • really cool. however, it is not unusual to hear drums in gettysburg at any point in the year. just keep that in mind. the drum rythm sounds like Da Dun dun da dun dun dun dun, which I can't identify. being a reenactor of the Civil War myself, (drummer), I cant believe this to be hardcore evidence because there are too many possibilites.

  • This is incredible! :)

  • I definetly heard the drums. Very neat!

  • Comment removed

  • Actually Shady if you'd take the effort to read the description he states right in it that it is only a still picture of the location that he recorded the audio in.

  • ok listening again, ;et me rephrase this...it IS a drum roll ( obviously) but more specifically, I served in ft huachuca arizona and when we did changing of the commanding officer they played a tune that sounds very very close to what is heard here as the retiring commander hands the company flag to the new commander.I grew up in the woods and never heard a leaf crunch like that so im not sure how one mistakes it for leaves.

  • sounded to me like a drum roll.

  • You DO NOT need special equipment to hear an EVP.... all you need is a good pair of headphones and an audio program (which you can download free on the net) ......good catch, sounds like snare drum.

  • u have to have special equiment to hear an EVP and i doubt a teenager has that.

  • Actually you don't have to have any special equiptment. Youneed a quality pair of head phones, and you can use something as simplistic as Sound recorder to clean up the audio quality. You don't get the highest quality results in the world, But you can clean audio up with Sound recorder. And Som EVP's show up right on the normal old Digital recording device.

  • do evp your self

  • It made me feel better when she said, "Orbs are always angels." I don't know, it made me feel better. The footage is creepy! Haha

  • im RJ Cross from the 81st illinois and 15 nw ark. civil war reenacting companies and well just frm th vibe of that drum its not period i say drums from the time had more of a one beat sound plus in this vid you can hear the sound of the metal strings vibe so yeah on my say i think its a FAKE

  • Holy shit, man, this was a great EVP. There ain't no way possible tht could be leaves. Not only could I hear little drummer boy snare drums, during that EVP periodically I heard gunshots. 5 stars

  • thing is is the drums of the period did not sound like snare they had a softer and deeper sound to em

  • Hell no that WAS a drum! There's no way that leaves made that sound!

  • robbie8600 you apparently don't get out much, cuz thats not leaves lol

  • guns going off

    0:09

    0:10

    0:11

  • it sounded more like snare drums

  • I've been hunting since guns were longer than I was tall. I am 99.9% certain you are listening to dry leaves crunching. That is certainly not the hollow rattling/pinging of snare/kettle drums, of that I am also certain. There was a bird in a limb of dead leaves or something that you did not take note of at the time you filmed it.

  • replying to my own comment: I had the TV going when i first reviewed this. I ramped up the volume and turned the TV down. There is definately something deliberately rythmic here and it doesnt sound as much like leaves anymore either... good catch.

  • lol, the ghosts of ghettysburg are there.. if this is fake then it was still inspired by an impression that someone got. hateful drummer vendetta

  • Snares from the 19th Century weren't metal, they were twisted pieces of small animal intestine. Hence why it's sometimes referred to as "the gut"

total pwnage on the "novice historian"

  • You're fucking wrong...

I'll show you a civil war era snare that i own with metal snare wires. Not all of them were cat gut or rawhide. Give me your e-addy and I'll send you a pic.

  • wrong again brotha!

Even if you do have a 19th Century snare drum with metal snares, whos to say they weren't replaced later by means of repair. I've *never* seen an original snare drum with any other snares except for gut. "Rawhide" wasn't used either, if you put "rawhide" snares on a drum, it won't change the sound at all. btw- metal wasn't scarce in the 19th Century. Might be time to pick up duh history book! XD

  • I'd have to agree with you there.

It does sound like it's edited for sound.

  • Ok...I hear the drumming but that could have been anyone from that VERY busy area and could have carried on the wind as many things do in Gettysburg. As far as Bible believers, believing in spirits....I'm a minister AND a ghost hunter!

  • good catch

  • Well people lie - Hell, everytime a politician gets up we get a couple lies at least. The real ghost stuff doesn't happen often. Once in a blue moon, something happens and someone is actually on hand to hear it - I've experienced the phantom sounds (not at a battlefield) but elsewhere. At first you're just confused because you aren't thinking "ghosts!" You're usually worried someone is breaking in, sneaking up on you or a crime is being committed. It's usually later when you say - oh s#!t

  • Plus, regarding this EVP, if it was a "real" person playing in the distance, and you can clearly hear the drum, why can't you clearly hear the players voice or footsteps, or other things of that nature?

  • With all due respect, houses like the Jenny Wade house can become haunted after years of rest. Due to restoration, construction, or the attitudes and mentality of those staying in or controlling the house. And I am a firm beleiver in ghosts. Even if you are a serious christian which I am, the bible even states that there are ghosts and demons living among us.

  • I'm going to Gettysburg in 1 month and I'm ready to experience the history of the Civil War and the Ghosts too.

I plan on coming back with evidence.

  • If testofoecho were really faking this, his other 2 evps wouldn't suck

  • i know there isi resentley went so i think id know i go every year im not sayin tha place is haunted but i know i had an experience there ill never forget

  • im not sayin its fake but i went to gettysberg and they usually have a guy dressed up a a civil war soilder and he walks around playing a snare drum so it may be him case he goes everywhere in the battleground

  • What the heck are you talking about?

I live in Gettysburg... there is no dude.

    *Rolls eyes.*

Stupid ghost tours besmirching the integrity and memory of those who died.

The park service made all the Gettysburg ghost stories up.

    :P

  • i do think the town tours they do around the town explaining the ghosts there are stupid, me and my dad were making fun of those retards, if anything the battlefield will be haunted and not the town!

  • -_-

    You're kidding, right?

They fought in the entire TOWN. It was not just designated to the random fields. There was shooting everywhere. This is why the ghost tours and "ghosts" ruin the town. No one learns the history, they just learn the fables.

  • ok if u know so much then why was Jenny Wade the only civilian to die at Gettysburg. when they battled in the town it was to see who controled the town. not even close to 500 deaths in the town. its the truth so look it up dont argue with me

  • That's not even a coherent sentence, so I'm not even sure I understand what your point is.

The Jenny Wade house was IN TOWN (where fighting WAS happening) and other people (who weren't stupid) were hiding in their basements AWAY from the fighting.

Jenny Wade was dumb and was making bread in her kitchen (well, it wasn't her kitchen, but still) when she was shot.

Then they decided to bring her down to the basement. Fighting was happening IN the town--the whole town was a battle field.

  • yeah, if there were shots being fired in the town, all around her, wouldnt u think of something else besides standing around making bread? its still a shame but come on?

  • 500 hundred deaths? A lot more than that!

  • So then how do you explain all the stories from people who just live in town and people who just come to visit? There are way more accounts of activity from normal people than there are from people who work for the Park Services. Besides how is that besmirching anything by having accounts of soldier's spirits? If anything that keeps the memory alive by the soldiers just letting people know they are still there.

  • "People of the town," stories are made up by the park service or are trying to make money off the, "stories." Explain to me how people who have lived in Gettysburg all their lives have seen nothing, but someone comes for a weekend and Ghosts suddenly appear. Explain to me how the Jenny Wade house can suddenly become, "haunted,"after almost a century and a half. The ghost tours and haunted B&Bs are scams. The stories take away the historical appeal for the town and replace it with paranormal crap.

  • How do you know that? You can't speak for everyone just because you haven't seen anything. There are records from 1000's of people as well as sound recordings like this one, video at the Cashtown Inn and Daniel Lady Farm, and pictures from Big Round Top, Little Round Top, and The Devil's Den that tell a greatly different story than the one you tell and such evidence has been around since long before you or I were born. There are even accounts from before 1900 that dispute everything you say.

  • I LIVE here, I know the locals.

Everyone is fed up with the ghost tours, everyone KNOWS they are fake and that it's a tourist trap that CHEAPENS the town. Most of the 1,000's of accounts have been fabricated for the tourists' sake. To get MONEY. None of the, "Stories," have historical evidence. They exist to scam people. Tackiness spreads easily in heavily tourist-y areas. Look at Niagra Falls.

  • I'm not talking about ghost tours, I mean evidence collected from actual paranormal investigators, and from them there is plenty of real evidence and they don't stand to make any money because most paranormal investigators don't charge money for what they do. So there may be scam artists in town but there are also real evidence from people who don't stand to gain anything. This is a fact no matter what you keep repeating. Gettysburg is haunted.

  • Evidence from paranormal investigators? I hardly believe that they are accredited to be authoritarians on anything. Just because you keep citing other scam artists as evidence does not make you right.I don't take secondhand or thirdhand stories as proof. I've slept on the battlefield,I was born here and lived here most of my life(as has my family),park rangers have TOLD me they've helped fabricate the stories.I don't care if you're not talking about the trashy ghost aspects of the town,I AM

  • Not a bad drum solo.

Maybe someday someone will catch the guitar solo

  • Is it fake? not to me. this is what I captured. I wasn't playing the drum nor do I know who was. I was putting this out there for people to hear and comment on. Read the description. to get a recording this clear it would have to be closer than the college, middle, grade schools. Do all evp"s have to sound like incomprehensible white noise? This phenomena is far from any scientific answer right now. maybe some of the seasoned investigators are jealous at beginners luck. but this was not faked.

  • i wouldn't waste all this time commenting back to people if this was faked, i have better things to do than that

  • @testfoecho like what comment back to him again? FAIL!

  • @testfoecho like what comment back to him again? FAIL!

  • though there is good ghost activity at gettysburg, that is not one of them. The drum I hear is not a drum that would have been used in the civil war, it is a modern steel snare drum. It was probably coming from the school or something. But keep on hunting!! There is great stuff to get caught at gettysburg!!

  • holy Shit dude i would probably run away if i hear dat...... but it would have been funny if u heard Banjo music..... (search The Deliverence)

  • that was totally a drum evp good catch

  • That's cool nice capture!

  • looks like some one didnt like pointing out the obviase it is my opinion nothing more there is no reason to red thumb me i thought maybe once but 3 times come on try telling me why first

  • I don't care what anyone says, I think that's awesome.

  • why would there be drums in the ghost world that bit i cant make eny sence of i belive you got it on tape and its unexplained but i dont think its paranormal sorry thanks

  • I actually thought of this before because you always hear people capturing evp's of voices especially in real time. So why would i capture a drum line? there are many theories with a parellel universe and separate plane but they are just not in the same physical sense we are. just like science and medicine had to be discovered so too one day, someone will find out about where the energy goes when a human dies. technically it is paranormal because it cannot be explained by science. thanks

  • thanks for repliying i have herd the tune before i cant think of were though its odd i do belive in ghosts and evps and stuff just not orbs theres no way they are whot peaple think they are i also love ghetysberg and the ghosts there and the war strange when you think im english or should i say british no english

  • I have EVPs that are sounds and not voices, it happens, why, couldn't tell ya. I'll post those soon.

  • thank you captbart cool name bye the way i have heard things but always put it down to my imagination but if there is so many peaple saying im wrong then i might well be but i need more proof than this my self and please do post them every little helps your friend lee in england bye

  • Oh, btw, you can hear, at my other profile Stickyboogarz, some investigation evidence I've already posted here...apparently I thought i was in that profile when I'd posted this comment. XD

  • the reason there are drums in the spirit world is because there were drums on the battlefield as well. these spirits are fighting this battle over and over again, so whatever was at the battle is in their spirit realm.

  • you see i dont belive that the drum was never alive so there for has no sole so why is it over the other side thats all im trying to say i do belive in ghosts ant that sort of thing just not this realy becouse of the sole thing but i do get whot your trying to say but thanks for talking any way bye

  • Very nice capture

  • Different drum cadences had different meanings. I wonder what command was being played at that moment. Anyone know?

  • AMAZING !!! Excellent Captures.

  • how is it that people who die can come back to haunt us? is it really them or is it SOMETHING else??

  • I am so new to this subject that it depends on what you believe. If you want to go to a spiritual/religious side then chances are you will believe there is something else out there. Angels for instance. If go go to a scientific side. Energy is neither created nor destroyed, it just takes on differant forms. People=energy. So I think it comes down to a matter of beliefs

  • im just saying that you never know what could be out there. its kinda spooky cuz we cant be sure. like thi one time i was at my mums and i was sleeping on her couch. the way her couch was i could sit up and see into the kitchen. dude no joke, i woke up one night and saw a tall figure, like a man standing there. it was like he was watching me. i got scared and hide under the covers. i was only 6 or 7 at the time. i told my mum and she said "you were just dreaming" i dont think i was.

  • yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! yo right finally someone agrees with me

  • 100% agree with you on that. I tend to find this stuff to be more under your theory in general. I think ghosts and evp's are some form of energy, or they are bleeding through alternate dimensions not yet discovered through science. I do not neccisarily believe they are actually "spiritual," or "religious."

  • I 100% believe this EVP to be real bc my girlfriend and I stayed at the little drummer campsite next to the battlefield and all throughout the night we heard drums, cannons, gunfire, screaming (battle sounds), and a rebel yell. Not to mention multiple light phenomena that occured. Truly bizarre!!

  • And Shady is brain-dead beyond what words can convey. Quit huffin' glue, kid.

  • Out of all of the Gettysburg EVP's I have heard, this is my favorite.

  • WOW!! That is one of the most awesome EVP's I have ever heard!! It is very clearly a drum answering you! Got any more?

  • EVPs are so cool! You're very lucky to get one so clear. I wish you luck in future ghost hunts!

  • Bravo! for you & whoever got this sound to you from the other side! It's like they have had enough experience with recorders now that they figured outa drum would be heard more clearly. Absolutely amazing! Seems like quite abreak-through, and MUCH better than about 40 other evp's I've heard on utube! Congratulations!!! :)

  • omg, somebody played taps for you... that's is soooo friggin' cool

  • it kind of sounds like gunshots. ive picked up similar evps in my times there.

  • That's pretty incredible. I spend tons of time doing EVP work on the Battlefield and I have never gotten anything this good.

  • Wow. =/

  • good evp.

Each drum fill/roll meant something, you should look up what that specific beat means.

    great catch.

  • thanks for the comment, I do know they have meaning but I'll have to research it a little more, unless a reenactor or historian will somehow read this and give their insight on it. This was caught in the early morning so whether this command had something to do with the 20th Maine being moved over to Cemetary Ridge on July 3rd or not, I'm not quite sure

  • If you are referring to how well this sounds, thanks for the compliment. Trust me, if I heard this from anyone else, I wouldn't believe it either. Whether you believe it or not, this is what I caught, and you have your own opinion about it. But really, thanks.

  • dude i cood hear drums. awsome

  • Nice catch. I am heading up to Gettysburg the end of Sept. and I am really excited about the ghost hunting I have heard so much about.

  • If it's a hoax, it's a hoax. If not, then all I have to say is "wow."

  • true to my word this is a legitimate recording of something I cannot explain. Not that I am a professional Ghost hunter or even an amateur to explain it, but I do have an ear for drums and would have caught this at 7am If they were reenactors. thanks for the comment, I am still speechless at how well this recording came out

  • my other evp sounds great on my computer but it is a little fuzzy here on youtube

  • Nice catch

  • Damn! they are saluting! nice evp!!!

  • I went for school on a field trip and I was so dissapointed nothing happened to me. xDD

My one friend said he got a weird feeling, though. I guess that's something, though nothing I experienced. I'll have to go back at night, I guess.

  • We have been there numerous times the past few years. This evp for example was caught on a Sunday morning at about 7 am, we had no intentions of going back out to investigate anymore after we had already done it for 3 nights previous. But I wanted to give it one more shot before we headed home. I am still skeptical about paranormal activity unless I experience it for myself, and this evp seems to persuade me to look into this stuff a little more. thanks for the comment and keep trying

  • It seems patience is key. so don't expect something to happen, just wait for it it to.

  • WOW, that's pretty cool. great catch

  • I've been to Gettysburg my brother went to collage a Gettysburg and i had a lot of paranormal experiences in the 2 weeks i was there very cool evp

my friends in drumline and he had to study marching and battle snare patterns he hasn't heard of a 2 2 4 pattern but still pretty coll evp

  • Yeah - good catch, I'd definitely have to go with EVP on that one...

  • Now THAT is scarey! That's one of the ghost drummer boys, right?

  • Definitely a snare drum with a battle rhythm. Very mysterious to listen to with historic Little Round Top in the background. Thanks for sharing it.

  • sounded alot like the drums in the gettysburg movie...may have been gun shots too?they had hand guns that made that noise?!

  • at first, I also though it could be gunfire but there is a definite rhythm to it and doing some research it does sound like a snare drum for back then.

  • I hope your not pulling our leg with this EVP. If your not, its a great catch! Please tell me your not joking with us. I want to believe!

  • this was the legitimate recording and not doctored in anyway(except to cut out the extra 30 mins of questions with no response).

  • God, so many typing errors! Sorry about that.

When the soldiers appeared at the top of the hill the slowly started down the hill and disappeared when they reached the street. I remember seeing the guns and I also heard the clanking of them. The whole family saw them. It was thrilling.

That is one amazing evp you captured! Thank you for sharing it.

  • That is one amazing evp. That is definently the sound of old drums. Incredible. You can tell it's not of this plane. You can tell it's from another time.

Our family used to take trips to gettysburg all the time in the 90s and early 2000s. I miss it so much. We moved, though after living in pennsylvania for 12 years.

On one trip to gettysburg at halloween time we were sitting in the car looking a spirit sightings. Suddenly about soldiers appeared on the hill above little round top.

  • they r good at the drum

  • I agree with the others it was a drum...

  • wow... As someone who plays rope tension field drums... that is what you caught...are you sure there were no groups or drums being played in the distance because they do carry a LOOOOONNNG way...but very nice...

  • I have been playing drums awhile and I definitely would have noticed if someone was playing drums at 7am. I would also think that I would have caught more drums because I recorded a good 15mins before and after this recording but, i am not sure how reenactors work their routines. I can only give you my word that no one was around. thanks for commenting

  • The typical drum section of a Civil War brass band normally had three instruments. They were the rope tension (side) snare drum, the bass drum, and the cymbals.

  • thanks again, would the snare back then, sound like what I have captured. I am not familiar with the sounds of instruments back then.

  • It did sound like a snare drum! Awesome.

  • it sounds like a snare drum. thats a good catch.
