Some one uses a gun and shoots someone. Is the gun bad are the person useing the Gun bad. Whites at that time use the lords word are bible for evil to take out the Natives as well. And Natives still live man. The bible was mostly written from Africa itself. All that happen was all in Africa! YOUR Lost Man!. But i expect this from a Atheist that believes in nothing.
@nativemrv19722 Religion is not analogous to a gun. While it is a tool it is much more analogous to slavery and yes slavery is bad, not just the slave masters/ proponents of slavery.
"Whites at that time use the lords word are bible for evil to take out the Natives as well." And it worked sadly. Native Americans went from being 100% of the population of the US to like .5%. From having 100% of the land to having tiny fragments.
@nativemrv19722 "Asia has had nothing to do with the bible never heard such a thing" Well, you really should look that up. Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Israel, Caanan, Palestine (Phillistines), Babylon. All of these places are in ASIA. The Bible is set almost entirely in ASIA.
"Slavery you have no choice religion you have choice to be part of it." This is to some degree true (many people are forced to be religious) but completely irrelevant to the analogy I made.
@daswann14 Bible is set mostly Mideast and Africa! nothing to do with Asia at all. Egypt is in the Bible, Ethiopia and black country in Africa. I guess you think this way you never read the Holy Bible.
@nativemrv19722 "Bible is set mostly Mideast and Africa! nothing to do with Asia at all. Egypt is in the Bible, Ethiopia and black country in Africa. I guess you think this way you never read the Holy Bible." The Middle East is West ASIA!!!!! Which is exactly what I said, the Bible is from West Asia. Iraq, Israel, Judea, Palestine, and Caanan are all in Asia. Yes the Bible mentions Egypt and Ethiopia sparingly but they are by no means the location of most of the stories.
@LogicLyfe - Congrats! Not to press you any faster than you would like to go, a great playlist you might find interesting: /watch?v=Zw_G9ODIVMs&playnext=1&list=PLB561EFAEC8C0EB88
It is a 3-session, 33-part playlist of videos from the Beyond Belief 2006 seminar. In it, several leading scientists come together to discuss life, science and belief. Black physicist, atheist, and science promoter Niel DeGrasse Tyson is on the panel. For an enlightening preview: /watch?v=sRuSCl30ByY
Personally I dont see how African Americans being Christian effects you being an Atheist. After watching "The Sunset Limited" it gave me a whole new perspective of how christianity can be a joy for some african americans, not saying its right or wrong, it just showed me another shade of the beautiful diversity even within a race. And just know that you being an atheist also adds to that same diversity.
@daswann14 I totally agree, that truth matters. But how do you personally place worth on it? Is it worth offending and hurting the older generation who probably wont benefit from the education of "truth" and it may even expose them to great heart ache. I understand how a religion says "truth > deciet" but I wander at what lengths you think its worth pushing it. I understand you'd probably know whats important alot more than me, as I dont live in the USA. Im just curious.
@daswann14 I get that you do, I was more interested in your reason for it. I dont understand what you mean by objective value, as its everyones individual responsibility to keep values therefore I would assume values are subjective in nature.
@daswann14 I get that you do, I was more interested in your reason for it. I dont understand what you mean by objective value, as its everyones individual responsibility to keep values made of there own reason, therefore I would assume these types of values are subjective in nature.
@dambobjob They are subjective. It's not reducible to anything other than I believe true beliefs are better than false beliefs for anecdotal reasons (important for not eating poison, trying to physically fly out of a window, etc.).
Though Jews may face discrimination, I think they have it pretty darn good! As a whole. Economically, they are doing far better than Black folks and many other non Jews.
@kemeticlady Jews dominate economically relatively speaking no question. This explanation is slightly more nuanced but in short it is very easy for them to integrate into the dominant society. And their status as minorities pushed them to value and development academic skills. Historical discrim forced creative solutions in that culture which have aided their economic fortunes in the present. In reality it is American blacks (not recently emigrated africans, west indians, etc.) in bad shape.
Bible Criticism takes place when UNBELIEVING men try to find fault with God's Word. Such men set themselves up as JUDGES, and they make unfavorable remarks and judgments about the Bible. Instead of letting the Bible be their JUDGE (God's Word pointing out their faults and showing where they are wrong--Hebrews 4:12-13), they try to JUDGE the Bible (by pointing out the so called "mistakes" and "faults" in the Bible). Someday these unbelievers will stand before the

I think there are probably a lot more black atheists than you think, I suspect a lot of them are simply silent in the pews because they don't want to be ostracized from their friends and family, or they just keep quiet about it.
There is indeed much racism in religion (i.e. Rig Veda, Babylonian Talmud, Book of Mormon). Just because you disagree with the local popular folklore is not reason to reject God. I see you mentioned African Traditional Religion. Have you explored them yet? Men in our ignorance try to make sense of this wonderful dynamic mysterious world of constant change. Some cultures do a much better job than others. Blacks have gone through hell indeed. BUT WE ARE STILL HERE!!!!!!! Thank you God!
There have been many notable black atheists: Frederick Douglas, James Baldwin, Langston Hughes, Butterfly McQueen, and many more that I do not know about because of my ignorance of African-American history. I am sure watching these videos can be informative and inspiring to me, an non-African-American atheist. This gives me hope that more and more people of all backgrounds are coming out. I look forward to seeing more of these videos.
Do you have a cite for Douglass being an theist? He was VERY critical of the Christianity practiced by southerners at the time, but I don't recall him coming out about complete lack of belief in a God.
@umaralfarooq But it doesn't help the Christian cause when in the Bible God himself gives instructions on how to control slaves... That is just one example of many, many wrongs in the "word of God."
@daswann14 I'm sorry, I don't understand how you can prove "God does not exist" by examining one book. That must mean YOU believe that book to be the one and only authority.
@umaralfarooq Each book contains it's own set of propositions. The Bible proves there is no Yahweh 100%. The Quran proves there is no Allah 100%, etc. The general and receptive framework eventually becomes obvious, it is a social tool that all civilizations used for a myriad of reasons. You can't disprove something that is not proposed (it's absurd prima facie), but as soon as a God prop is offered we usually do have the tools to dismiss it 100%.
Let me make it clear and save you a lot of time. If you believe in the Creator then you're a Believer and everything you perceive is a proof that God exist BUT if you don't believe in the Creator then you're an unbeliever and everything you perceive is a proof that God doesn't exist. As simple as that and this is a LAW as the the law of gravity or the law of aerodynamics.
May the almighty keep us and our family among those who RIGHTLY perceive.
Now this is what makes for good scence. I hear you loud and clear my brother. Please accept my truthful thank you for sharing your view on the internet. I agree with everyything you say and can say it myself; and I say it myself. One day soon I am going to be on-line with my view and my web-cam. Keep on keeping on!
Would you do me a favor? Research Ethiopia pray to Jesus just one time.
Understand Ethiopia was a country untouched by white europeans.
Christianity existed there long before whites had it. Understand just like people use and abuse nature to make drugs. The word of God is abused and used.
My friend also never rest you salvation in man or reliegion but in God and his son Jesus Christ just try him out for two weeks pray to him , I gaurantee you will see a change.
@bmbsage Yes, Christianity has been in Ethiopia for a long time. So? That doesn't change the fact that the same faith was used to justify enslaving West Africans.
You are a great thinker and state what I have been saying for years! What did "god" ever do for Africans being sold as slaves! In fact the bible NEVER condemns slavery! The bible is full of shit! A load of ancient superstitious nonsense! And yes yes people that are oppressed tend to lean on a crutch if it makes them feel better even if things are not better! BTW the whole Ham people is BS- Who the fuck knows they are black?
Actually blacks are not only ones, upon christianity has been forced on.I live in Estonia and the crusaders made a huge war over here to force christianity on.The locals were ofcource the crusaders little pets so to speak for next 800 years.
Sure your're right. Caused the Catholic church to split between the Roman Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox. Seems two guys wanted to be pope at the same time. Anyway, men have been killing each other for years just to prove that their imaginary friend is bigger and better than their enemies'.
Very refreshing. You are only the 2nd African-American that I have seen on youtube that is an atheist. I am african-american and I definitely donot and never will believe in Christ.
Is being non-religious synonymous with not believing in God? I think not. It seems like you have issues with the slave-Christianity complex, which is an issue alot of Black folks seems to have. Christianity did not beat s with whips and bind us in chains, but evil men that sought to make money. God did not destroy our communitites, man (us in particular) did.
The message is obedience to God even as a servant to a master. Those two verses have nothing to do with the instituting of slavery. Servant does not mean "slave'. Servant means "to serve". I believe in serving all man kind even if it means that I will go without . I found no word "slave" in those verses you mentioned. It seems you take the words "literally" in the Bible. My purpose in "this" life is to serve with all my heart and that includes you. Hoped that helped.
Parables are used to illustrate princples to live by or life lessons. I mean come on...do you think that a camel can pass through the eye of needle? "non", but it is meant to illustrate a lesson. Now, regardless of your position on that is besides the point. Its not so much as a standard.
I don't know. I suppose if you choose to look at all the controversial passages in the book, that is what you will find....controversy. If you take these things and use it as a measure to dismiss the totality of the messages in the Bible, then you probably are not reading it with good intentions.
listen bruh, i really hope u r not taking this as a personal attack. i am one who is for the active pursuit of true information and the progression of our ppl. it is time for black folk to grow up intellectually and move forward with modern times. religion is a tool that the powerful use to keep poor ppl subserviant and dependant. stand up as a black man and take charge of your own life and quit waiting on jesus or god to fix things for us.
btw when reading the bible i nvr set out with any intentions other than truth.
if one removes the fear of hell, then re-read the bible for oneself objectively and non biasedly, you can only draw one conclusion. the only way that these "controversial passages" and discrepancies make sense is if it were written by imperfect man and not an infallable god.
exactly....I agree. From my experience, alot of people are unaware that the Bible has been torn apart. Either these men could not translate the material correctly, or it was interpreted wrong, and in some cases things just left out of it. People that rely on a book as their sole purpose for salvation a.k.a. "bible-thumpers" tend to take this narrow-minded approach towards their purpose in life...just my two cents.
did god not know these men would use his words to justify slavery? why then put that part in the bible?
most ppl would argue that we have "free will", my nxt question then is why create lucifer, who turned into satan, who subsequently lead the world astray? did god not know this would happen? if not then hes not omnipotent. if he knew and did it anyway then hes malevolent. if he neither knew nor cared to change things then why call him god?
Christianity, Islam and Judaism are not Afrikan by any stretch of the imagination. Those books were written for and by Semitic people who were living during times of war and confusion. No so-called god would justify or encourage war or killing any one. What kind of god would even say that if they created all human beings equally. Would you as a parent tell your children to kill each other? Religions are tools of social control. Burn those books.
Thing is...they always seem to be having such a good time at church with all that gospel singing! Seriously though...you're right - it makes little sense. I blame the reverend MC Hammer. lol.
Slave owners crammed religion down the throats of the Africans and denied them education.
It blows my mind that African Americans are some of the most religious people in America and you would think that Christianity would be vehemently rejected by them.
Christianity is one of the last vestiges of slavery and yet they embrace it.
Hey. As far as I'm aware, several leaders of the Civil Rights movement in the 60s were atheist. Some of the leaders of the march on Washington. King was attacked for hanging out with "godless communists".
bingo christianity was a african religion and originally never believed Jesus was god it was esoteric till the europeans patched this shit we call christianity and believe the awful thing we call they holy scripture
I'm a black polemic blasphemous atheist. Im the black Richard Dawkins and I seek out theists to annihilate. I just dont have time to make videos if not its pretty much game over. But I do crawl over youtube comments to fight this superstitious bullshit.
I'm black and have considered myself an atheist for 4 years. My mother, who is black, is an atheist also, but much of my family are firm Christians. Suffice to say, I don't talk to them about religion. Anyway, keep on keeping on and I subscribed to your channel.
The old testament of the bible and the koran are just tracts about the in-group and the out-group. All abuses are allowed against the out-group. It's possible that black people have tried to break into the in-group by immersing themselves in their religions, but that's just condoning the behaviour. America is meant to be a secular democracy and has a place for everyone. Xtianity has been a disaster for America. All this 'in god we trust' stuff is from the Confederacy, and it's creeping back.
May I suggest the "Made Easy" video series by potholer54. Watch them if you are at all interested in where humanity actually came from. Believe it or not, I went to a christian school and church until I was 18, but by the time I was 17, I had realized, due to internal errors and the deplorable state of the world, that the bible was full of it. I still believed in god, I just hated him. It wasn't until I did a very long study of the science I wasn't taught in school that I dropped my belief.
Natural Selection. The universe we are still finding out about it, we dont make false claims we strive to discover, not ur discovery of a dumb book which is an open and shut case.
The big bang is a theory ok
technically we are agnostic but if god existed we wouldnt need him or he/she wouldnt fit into the picture anyway
As used in science, a theory is an explanation or model based on observation, experimentation, and reasoning, especially one that has been tested and confirmed as a general principle helping to explain and predict natural phenomena.
Any scientific theory must be based on a careful and rational examination of the facts. A clear distinction needs to be made between facts (things which can be observed and/or measured) and theories (explanations which correlate and interpret the facts.
A fact is something that is supported by unmistakeable evidence.

I've been looking for a forum to try and reach out to our people. Any black people who believe in religions period should really listen to John Henrik Clarke. The brother is deep.
yeah but u don't have to throw out the baby w/ the bath water. u can still believe in a divine creator just thow out the european concept of god b/c thats not true but anyway what do u think about reincarnation
It's about time I stumbled across black atheists!! I've known I was an atheist since I was 9 years old. Just because I am black doesn't mean that I should adhere to a belief system that enslaved my ancestors nor should I participate in any other belief system based on stupid superstitions and dumb tribalism.
Thank you, daswann14, for posting this. I hope you haven't changed your position. You and other black atheists who commented here are not alone!!
@idiley I am agnostic and Black. I do not do religion of any kind. Glad to see another Black person not believing in their slave master's religion. Or any religion for that matter. Black folks are sooo religious!

@kemeticlady Awesome. We've gotta talk about that agnostic distinction. Don't feel alone; you're just ahead of the curve =) Every social change needs pioneers.
@kemeticlady - Well, your'e not that alone, you can add another to your list. Our list is growing along with other Atheists/Agnostics beyond expectations. Hopefully in the future there will be any room for such nonsense as "religion" which will be replaced by reason.
did you know that Charles Darwin, the man who brough atheism to the forefront, and a white man, was against slavery? because how he saw "Christians" dominate the "inferior" Africans, that he believed that there is no God? during the 1950s and 1960s, many African Americans left Christianity for Judaism and Islam. I don't blame them at all. I am watching Hell on Wheels, and the way Africans are treated by the "superior" whites, it is no wonder that honest white folks are not trusted.
@24aaa I may be mistaken, but I thought I had read to the contrary, regarding Darwin and his opinions of Africans. I could have swore he felt we had smaller brains than Whites and were not equal. Like I said, I could be mistaken.
@kemeticlady "As man advances in civilisation, and small tribes are united into larger communities, the simplest reason would tell each individual that he ought to extend his social instincts and sympathies to all the members of the same nation, though personally unknown to him. This point being once reached, there is only an artificial barrier to prevent his sympathies extending to the men of all nations and races. - Charles Darwin; The Descent of Man, 1871
@kemeticlady cont... from my recollection he said that socially blacks were not on the same par as white people (from the Western perspective) but that this difference was artificial. It's a slippery slope but since all of the conservative racists absolutely hated Darwin leads me to give him the benefit of the doubt.
That's cool my brother, just teach the one's you influence to have great morals and if you ever get to a point and you want to give Christa try check me out.

I'm pretty sure some of your Loved one's are saved christians. that alone should allow you to grant the Bible some respect. I can also tell by your vocabulary that you have a great deal of intellect, but why refer to yourself as a nigger. our black youth are struggling enough with faith in God what will they have are you going to loan them money when they are desparate and looking to rob maybe your Loved one's because they feel there know God, so there will be know consequences.
There is no such thing as saved christians, half of my family and the majority of my friends are christian. I didn't call myself a nigger, though I have no problem with the word. Your comment is a little convoluded at the end, but a lack of belief in God does not mean a lack of ethics or legal consequences. If someone is desperate they should try to do something about it, not pray. It's God's plan to put blacks in the ghetto at a higher risk of being poor and being robbed; if you believe in him.
There is saved people that means that we accept that Jesus is the son of god and he died for our sins and rose from the dead and accended into heaven. Think about this Let's say there is no God and you Live a life of disblief after you die what will you be remembered for. Although on the other hand what if there is a God what will you have to say the moment you realize you have to face his judgement. Living a life as a believer is a benefit to humanity, not the religious BS but a honest believer
You think you're saved, but since there is no Jesus/God by definition you're wrong. 'What will you be remebered for?' That's the stupidest question I've ever heard. Everyone is remembered the same, by their associates and their works. What does that have to do with anything. I can't stop laughing. There is no God, and there is nothing to face. Being a believer has nothing benificial for humanity, and it makes people stupid.

I've spent the last 16 years of my life in the United States army fighting for the freedom of people like yourself. My faith got me through many situations how I lived when my friends died. Have you ever been to war have you ever fought for something other than yourself. I need God in my life and one day you will too. No matter how hard you try to deny his existense one day you will cry out to the Lord when all else has failed and no one else is there. I'm not trying to offend you I respect all.
You the man, I am a white roman catholic baptized confirmed technically redneck from Kentucky and yet I understand everything you are saying.. You are a very thoughtful, smart human being.. using that word the way you did is fine with me.. and anyone with a brain..
Damn bruh i'm glad to see this video. I thought I was the first black person to be bugged out by this. I made a video yesterday on black atheism. Check it out.

if its so bad then back to africa, see how much help you would get from your government in africa not much. you were slaves because you dont work unless someone forces you to. your whole entire race is lazy and worthless.
fuck you , what do you even know about africa. if you were born there you would probaly have aids or would starve to death. you are an ungrateful piece of shit.
I don't know much abut Africa much more than you I'm sure, and I'm glad I have the freedoms of America. Don't you think imperialism has something to do with the way Africa is? Does that justify slavery? Or racism. Fuck no it doesn't, you asshole.
Yeah most people are misinformed. Whether it be religion, politics, government, history, etc. Africa has been used abused and robbed naked. And I still don't see justice all around the globe. That's just one reason I as an African deconverted. Keep posting man!
It's just a word. How is it ironic? I said it to make a point. I'm sure employers viewed their potential black employees as 'niggers' (some not all), and that being an atheist was another knock against them. I also used a line from the best rap song ever. I still fail to see any irony in either. You'll have to elaborate more.
You miss every point. Would you expect Jews to have the highest adherence to nazism even if it were correct? Well, blacks have the highest adherence to Christianity. You don't at least find that interesting, I find it downright disturbing. I'm not telling people to reject it based on that. Just to think about it. Look, remain a slave all you want. Stay a stupid coon just like the people who put your descendants in bondage and forced them to accept christianity, your perogative.
"if nazism was right...would jews believe in it, i think not" the question itself is silly, but it also proves no point. even in your example, for jews to reject the idea simply because it is unfavorable, wouldn't matter if nazism were true. you reject something on the basis of its veracity, not its convenience. So though your premises are false, even if they were true, its still not the grounds on which you reject something.
the line of reasoning is so fallacious, on so many points.(and i'd be glad to share) i really hope that if people are going to invest their trust in the notion that God doesn't exist, that they have better reasons to reject Him, than this.
Uhh, I'm sorry that you can't grasp this. There are lots of proofs that Yahweh doesn't exist. I was takinmg a different approach here. If nazism was right would Jews believe in it, I think not. Anyone who accepts God is a fool, because there is no reason too. I'm speculating on why the race that has been damaged by the Bible most is its biggest adherent. I didn't even try to prove there's no God.
I am a white atheist. I also don't understand why black people are so dedicated to a religion that was used to validate their enslavement. Stockholm syndrome is what I assume. I mean god couldn't come up with a better way of saving black people other than putting them on ships with very high mortality rates then striping them of there humanity for hundreds of years so they can hear the word of god that says it is okay to keep them as slaves. I hope you inspire more black people to think about it
actually ive also wondered why my people are dedicated to a relgion like that. im a very scientific person an ive recently left religion. ive always had doubts but the fear of hell made me stay until recently.
Some have twisted Christianity and, specifically the Bible, to further their own evil causes, doesn't make the religion wrong, it makes the person who misused it wrong
I am a black male atheist/agnostic and I really appreciated this video. Christianity in the black community is something that will puzzle me for the rest of my life.
The Israelites were supposed to be a Kingdom of Priests, and a Holy Nation (exodus 19:5-7), a shining example of how to be righteous and manifest the laws and instruction of Yah. but they werent, they transgressed they got into a buncha other shit that was aactually ANTI-god, so they get punished. God was the SOURCE of their strength, no nation could overcome the Kingdom of Israel when they was on they square, but when they fell off then they fall into captivity, either willingly or forcefully
Christianity is slowly becoming a worldwide phenomena, having gained immense popularity after the wilful conversion of the Roman Emperor Constantine and ensuing FORCED conversion of pretty much everybody the Europeans came into contact with after that
which brings us to slavery
you know the story, they take us off the coasts, into a strange land, shed us of our previous language and culture then give us theirs. all the niggas is christians now, and all the images in the bible are european
The Roman occuption of Israel was succesful, they succesfully translated the Hebrew Scriptures into Greek (google Septuagint) and from that they created a new religion; Christianity (google search Council of Nicea)
the African Hebrew presence in the Holy Lands was either wiped out (through wars, annihilation) cast out (alotta hebrews fled persecution) or watered down (and turned 'Jewish)
skip forward a couple hundred more years and Christianity is the state
theres yet another book who's author i dont know but the title is Africanisms, which highlites the existence of the various speech paterns and social(tribal) customs still found today in modern america, many of which are connected to the Hebrew people all the way back to the Land of Israel
ALOT of the slaves captured on the West African coasts were descendants of the ancient Hebrew Israelites. some were still livin out Hebrew culture upon capture some converted to Islam some practiced Voodoo etc etc but they were still African Hebrew Israelites by lineage.
Theres a book called Hebrewisms of West Africa by Joseph J Williams (world-renouned scholar) that will attest to the presence of a Hebraic people on the West African coasts
Fast forward a couple hundred years the Kingdom of Israel is no more, the people have scattered in all directions: some went into India some went to japan and the majority went east and south (cause the europeans were comin from the north and west) into Africa
As it stands today there are still many many African tribes and cultures that practice what we know now today to be 'Judaism' the Lemba, Ashanti, Yoruba and Ibo, just to name a few.
I know there are black Jewish 'tribes'. Still Judaism is a middle eastern concept which was an offshoot of Zoroastrianism . The Indo-Aryans are responsible for both Zoroastrianism/ Judaism, as well as Hinduism. Africans certainly were the first people, no disputing that. Are you part Jewish, or do you just know Hebrew? I know like 100 Yiddish words, lol.
well, they killed him. in america they lynch and electricute, back then they crucified and burned. but the significnt point to be made here is that this African Hebrew teacher, scholar and spiritual leader, died at the hands of capital punishment by the Roman Empire(state), in order to remove his presence which threatened their dominance, allowing them to continue in their opression (both spiritual and physical) of the African Hebrew Israelites
They imposed their culture, their beliefs, their 'religion' and their lifestyle unto the Israelites (Hebrews) and forced them to accept alotta bullshit which they simply werent supposed to accept. Its called Hellenization, look it up.
Jesus (Yahshua) was diametrically opposed to such things, in a sense he was a 'spiritual revolutionary' who stood up to the powerful Greco-Roman forces of naked statues and all that shit, tellin his people to get back on track wit the proper wayof worship(Life)
do you have any interest in or thoughts on "Ifa"?

Personally I dont see how African Americans being Christian effects you being an Atheist. After watching "The Sunset Limited" it gave me a whole new perspective of how christianity can be a joy for some african americans, not saying its right or wrong, it just showed me another shade of the beautiful diversity even within a race. And just know that you being an atheist also adds to that same diversity.
dambobjob 1 year ago
@dambobjob Yeah except Christianity has a huge causal role in the domination of black people. Diversity is cool, but truth should matter some.
daswann14 1 year ago 4
@daswann14 I totally agree, that truth matters. But how do you personally place worth on it? Is it worth offending and hurting the older generation who probably wont benefit from the education of "truth" and it may even expose them to great heart ache. I understand how a religion says "truth > deciet" but I wander at what lengths you think its worth pushing it. I understand you'd probably know whats important alot more than me, as I dont live in the USA. Im just curious.

@dambobjob I choose to value it. Keep in mind I do not believe in objective value.

@daswann14 I get that you do, I was more interested in your reason for it. I dont understand what you mean by objective value, as its everyones individual responsibility to keep values therefore I would assume values are subjective in nature.

@dambobjob They are subjective. It's not reducible to anything other than I believe true beliefs are better than false beliefs for anecdotal reasons (important for not eating poison, trying to physically fly out of a window, etc.).

@daswann14 that makes sense. Now I get what your saying in regards to objective value.

Though Jews may face discrimination, I think they have it pretty darn good! As a whole. Economically, they are doing far better than Black folks and many other non Jews.
kemeticlady 1 year ago
@kemeticlady Jews dominate economically relatively speaking no question. This explanation is slightly more nuanced but in short it is very easy for them to integrate into the dominant society. And their status as minorities pushed them to value and development academic skills. Historical discrim forced creative solutions in that culture which have aided their economic fortunes in the present. In reality it is American blacks (not recently emigrated africans, west indians, etc.) in bad shape.

"The Bible is wrong so God does not exist" doesn't make much sense.
umaralfarooq 1 year ago
@umaralfarooq But it doesn't help the Christian cause when in the Bible God himself gives instructions on how to control slaves... That is just one example of many, many wrongs in the "word of God."
ridethekicks 1 year ago
@ridethekicks I'm not arguing that point. Just because you can prove the Bible wrong that still is not an argument against the existance of God.
umaralfarooq 1 year ago
@ridethekicks I'm not arguing that point. I'm just saying you can't prove God doesn't exist by bashing the Bible.
umaralfarooq 1 year ago
@umaralfarooq Not by trashing it, by examining it. The propositions for that God lie within, and they are absurd. They are logical contradictions.
daswann14 1 year ago
@daswann14 I'm sorry, I don't understand how you can prove "God does not exist" by examining one book. That must mean YOU believe that book to be the one and only authority.
umaralfarooq 1 year ago
@umaralfarooq Each book contains it's own set of propositions. The Bible proves there is no Yahweh 100%. The Quran proves there is no Allah 100%, etc. The general and receptive framework eventually becomes obvious, it is a social tool that all civilizations used for a myriad of reasons. You can't disprove something that is not proposed (it's absurd prima facie), but as soon as a God prop is offered we usually do have the tools to dismiss it 100%.
daswann14 1 year ago
Let me make it clear and save you a lot of time. If you believe in the Creator then you're a Believer and everything you perceive is a proof that God exist BUT if you don't believe in the Creator then you're an unbeliever and everything you perceive is a proof that God doesn't exist. As simple as that and this is a LAW as the the law of gravity or the law of aerodynamics.
May the almighty keep us and our family among those who RIGHTLY perceive.
Peace!

BLKMRM 2 years ago
@BLKMRM
but the bible DOES condone slavery.
ephesians 6:5
1 peter 2:18
do you?
cappadinoceo 2 years ago
The message is obedience to God even as a servant to a master. Those two verses have nothing to do with the instituting of slavery. Servant does not mean "slave'. Servant means "to serve". I believe in serving all man kind even if it means that I will go without . I found no word "slave" in those verses you mentioned. It seems you take the words "literally" in the Bible. My purpose in "this" life is to serve with all my heart and that includes you. Hoped that helped.
BLKMRM 2 years ago
@BLKMRM
OIC so "servitude" is ok but not slavery? sounds like the same justification the slave traders used.
btw i am reading from the KJV as well as NIV
chk out lev. 25:44-46
the bible clearly considers ppl as property which in my opinion is wrong in any context...
i gather that you are not one who takes the bible literally? what is your standard for determining which verses are literal and which are metaphor?
cappadinoceo 2 years ago
Parables are used to illustrate princples to live by or life lessons. I mean come on...do you think that a camel can pass through the eye of needle? "non", but it is meant to illustrate a lesson. Now, regardless of your position on that is besides the point. Its not so much as a standard.
BLKMRM 2 years ago
@BLKMRM
so what lesson was illustrated in putting to death children who curse their parents?
exodus 21:17
how about killing homosexuals?
lev 20:13
are these also metaphors or to be taken literally?
cappadinoceo 2 years ago
I don't know. I suppose if you choose to look at all the controversial passages in the book, that is what you will find....controversy. If you take these things and use it as a measure to dismiss the totality of the messages in the Bible, then you probably are not reading it with good intentions.
BLKMRM 2 years ago
@BLKMRM
listen bruh, i really hope u r not taking this as a personal attack. i am one who is for the active pursuit of true information and the progression of our ppl. it is time for black folk to grow up intellectually and move forward with modern times. religion is a tool that the powerful use to keep poor ppl subserviant and dependant. stand up as a black man and take charge of your own life and quit waiting on jesus or god to fix things for us.
cappadinoceo 2 years ago
@BLKMRM
btw when reading the bible i nvr set out with any intentions other than truth.
if one removes the fear of hell, then re-read the bible for oneself objectively and non biasedly, you can only draw one conclusion. the only way that these "controversial passages" and discrepancies make sense is if it were written by imperfect man and not an infallable god.
cappadinoceo 2 years ago
exactly....I agree.
BLKMRM 2 years ago
@BLKMRM
did god not know these men would use his words to justify slavery? why then put that part in the bible?
most ppl would argue that we have "free will", my nxt question then is why create lucifer, who turned into satan, who subsequently lead the world astray? did god not know this would happen? if not then hes not omnipotent. if he knew and did it anyway then hes malevolent. if he neither knew nor cared to change things then why call him god?
cappadinoceo 2 years ago
there is opposition in all things..thats why. I believe we are here to be tried and tested...in this life.
BLKMRM 2 years ago
Christianity, Islam and Judaism are not Afrikan by any stretch of the imagination. Those books were written for and by Semitic people who were living during times of war and confusion. No so-called god would justify or encourage war or killing any one. What kind of god would even say that if they created all human beings equally. Would you as a parent tell your children to kill each other? Religions are tools of social control. Burn those books.

Any scientific theory must be based on a careful and rational examination of the facts. A clear distinction needs to be made between facts (things which can be observed and/or measured) and theories (explanations which correlate and interpret the facts.

did you know that Charles Darwin, the man who brough atheism to the forefront, and a white man, was against slavery? because how he saw "Christians" dominate the "inferior" Africans, that he believed that there is no God? during the 1950s and 1960s, many African Americans left Christianity for Judaism and Islam. I don't blame them at all. I am watching Hell on Wheels, and the way Africans are treated by the "superior" whites, it is no wonder that honest white folks are not trusted.

@kemeticlady "As man advances in civilisation, and small tribes are united into larger communities, the simplest reason would tell each individual that he ought to extend his social instincts and sympathies to all the members of the same nation, though personally unknown to him. @kemeticlady cont... from my recollection he said that socially blacks were not on the same par as white people (from the Western perspective) but that this difference was artificial. I can also tell by your vocabulary that you have a great deal of intellect, but why refer to yourself as a nigger. our black youth are struggling enough with faith in God what will they have are you going to loan them money when they are desparate and looking to rob maybe your Loved one's because they feel there know God, so there will be know consequences.
mrpeterkin1 3 years ago
There is no such thing as saved christians, half of my family and the majority of my friends are christian. I didn't call myself a nigger, though I have no problem with the word. Your comment is a little convoluded at the end, but a lack of belief in God does not mean a lack of ethics or legal consequences. If someone is desperate they should try to do something about it, not pray. It's God's plan to put blacks in the ghetto at a higher risk of being poor and being robbed; if you believe in him.
daswann14 3 years ago
There is saved people that means that we accept that Jesus is the son of god and he died for our sins and rose from the dead and accended into heaven. Think about this Let's say there is no God and you Live a life of disblief after you die what will you be remembered for. Although on the other hand what if there is a God what will you have to say the moment you realize you have to face his judgement. Living a life as a believer is a benefit to humanity, not the religious BS but a honest believer
mrpeterkin1 3 years ago
You think you're saved, but since there is no Jesus/God by definition you're wrong. 'What will you be remebered for?' That's the stupidest question I've ever heard. Everyone is remembered the same, by their associates and their works. What does that have to do with anything. I can't stop laughing. There is no God, and there is nothing to face. Being a believer has nothing benificial for humanity, and it makes people stupid.

Slacktoo 3 years ago

So though your premises are false, even if they were true, its still not the grounds on which you reject something.

the line of reasoning is so fallacious, on so many points.(and i'd be glad to share) i really hope that if people are going to invest their trust in the notion that God doesn't exist, that they have better reasons to reject Him, than this.
veritaslogos 3 years ago

Some have twisted Christianity and, specifically the Bible, to further their own evil causes, doesn't make the religion wrong, it makes the person who misused it wrong
xtrashed 3 years ago
The religion doesn't need any twisting to be immoral.

JDante123 3 years ago
but back to the topic at hand

JDante123 3 years ago

JDante123 3 years ago

JDante123 3 years ago
They imposed their culture, their beliefs, their 'religion' and their lifestyle unto the Israelites (Hebrews) and forced them to accept alotta bullshit which they simply werent supposed to accept. Its called Hellenization, look it up.
Jesus (Yahshua) was diametrically opposed to such things, in a sense he was a 'spiritual revolutionary' who stood up to the powerful Greco-Roman forces of naked statues and all that shit, tellin his people to get back on track wit the proper wayof worship(Life)
