no....its one of many accidents that happened during the rise of Canada's military (industrial complex) in the early 1900's This one just happened to be devastating.
If you go to Halifax, when you reach the area, all the trees that survived the blast were bent collectively in the same direction. All the tops of the old trees are flat and pointing out from the city. That is huge and unreal.
ya i am really disappointed in what is taught in schools these days....they teach us world history, which yes is important but we must first learn about our own history
@mcstalker12 A little late on the response but what about the Tunguska event? It wasn't caused by tnt (as far as we know) the exact cause is unknown but the best guess would be an air burst from a meteroid or a comet, but the explosion was estimated at about 10-15 megatons. This occurred in 1908
"Halifx Explosion " brought to you by linkin park.
IMO Heritage Canada should re air those old ads.

As a Nova Scotian and am only 16 years old, I'd still like to say thanks to all the countries far and wide for helping us on this devastating event.

Actually, the largest man made explosion was the Tsar Bomba. Halifax was the largest accidentaly man made explosion.
KaTzaNdSTuFf 11 months ago 2
@KaTzaNdSTuFf ummm no...the Hfx explosion is the largest, man-made NON-ATOMIC explosion in the world. Tsar Bomba was a hydrogen bomb.
MrComatost 8 months ago
@MrComatost Ah. Non atomic.
