I am considering scrapping my new impala because the transmission went and I had to have it towed. A mechanic says he can fix it but without a job it's just been sitting there for months. So, I don't know if I should scrap it because it's a 2005 and totally paid off, but without me having a job it's just sitting there. My husband picked this car for me, I wanted a toyota, and I picked his Lexus out (which he has not had a problem with even though it's an older version)...do impalas last?

Can any one give us the info on the rims and also what is under the hood. I am in the process of purchasing a 96 impala ss and I am preparing myself to do a complete overhaul on the engine and I need some serious advice. I also don't want to go any larger than 20 inch rims because this is a classic and I don't wantto destroy it with big rims that takes away the orginal look and overall power from the car.

if you fully rebuild the engine with ported heads..dome pistons new rockers and a cam..you can put a procharger on anything..it doesnt matter how many miles..just as long as you build the engine to withstand the extra amount of forced air you will be putting into the engine

@TANICHO1234 go for bigger injectors, upgrade higher ratio valves, upgrade camshaft, all cost you around $2000 if you find the right person, extractor upgrade important too, i can do all those upgrades by my self around 2000 or little less.

Considering the F1 McLaren came out about 9-10 years ago and could reach 240 mph w/only 627 bhp where it takes the Veyron 2 1/2 times the horsepower just to go 10-13 mph faster, the Veyron doesn't seem to be a good buy. Don't get me wrong, I like the car but I think the McLaren would kill the Veyron w/200 hp added on to it and a modded gear kit.

Originally it's a Corvette engine, that'll pretty much explain a lot. But in order to get these kinds of results, at least a stage 1 Supercharger is required, Stage 3 will have results of over 1000+ HP :)

Thanks, well , I have a 95 SS and for now I am getting a V3 Si-Trim at 8psi (can go max. 22psi) for the stock LT1 (est. approx. 350rwhp at 8psi). But do you think if a put that on a built 383 later on will yield that - meaning 700 rwhp? As long as I can run high 11s with 3.42s I'll be OK!
