I was born in St.pete and lived here ever since. It is the most bueatiful place to like. Like many others live in the downtown area and I love it. I would not want to like in any other city that St.pete. I am a member at the vinoy and it is a very nice club. It has ben there forever and it is a great place. I go to the saturday morning market anytime I can and I love it St.pete florida is the best place to live and grow up. I am only 13 but i know a good place to live. I loved growing up here.
Living downtown was great, only a 30 min drive down Central Ave to St. Pete or Madeira beaches. Sales tax comparable to NYC but it is offset by no state income tax. Downtown SP has affordable apts, shop well 'cause weirdos will wreak havoc with your life if you're not careful, like any larger city I guess. It's true what they say about the southside, very ghetto, gang warfare and dangerous. Some naieve guys had their bookstore there-robbed 4x in 3 mos and shut down after less than a year open.
You better have marketable, highly desireable job skills or don't even think of moving there. Tampa Bay is not the kind of place you want to live a troubled life in. Many people come to Florida to escape a troublesome past, thinking they won't carry their problems with them but they always do. You don't want to be going around keeping one hand on your wallet, the other on your gun and an open phone line to your lawyer on retainer.
It's beautiful in the spots that you folks are showing but unfortunately there is a seedier side to St. Pete as well. I am from there, grew up there from the time I was 5 years old and couldn't wait to leave when I was 18. Went to Northeast Senior High but had to be bussed to Lakewood for one year. The southside over in the Coquina Key area was always dangerous and very ghetto. We kids used to call it SALT PETERSBURG...too many old people!
I love Tampa Bay because it is hard to brand for the big marketing companies. There are many large companies that showcase the features about our bay, but they failt to bright light to the best benefit of our Tampa Bay, and that is the people that live here. We have myriad communities living together in one area and we are definitely not your typical neighborhoods, don't you think?! - Margarita
I lived in St. Petersburg in the 70's. It was the best place I ever lived. Also lived aboard a Houseboat in the downtown Marina. Best experience of my life. I wish I could do it again. Have been there in the past year and it still is was as nice still. The people here with the negative comments are into the bars, nightlife and unsavory aspects of that lifestyle,so, that's what they get.
i have lived in St. Pete my whole life. it's nice and all but i hate the heat. it is over 90 degrees F for over 300 days of the year. it almost never gets below 60. if you can't take heat like that then this is not the place for you. many downtown buissnesses are going out as the economy deteriorates. southside st. pete is disgusting and full of crime ie. 3 police officer shootings. there is also a great deal of crime in north st. pete. the homeless are everywhere and the greater percentage of
lol i totally agree wit southrnwitch man i finally moved da fuck outta st pete, they dont show the ghetto ass parts of da shit where i grew up niether
To hell with St Pete! I hate it here. They didn't take close up pics to show st Pete's true colors. The city cleans up the north neighborhoods and neglects the south side. Its horrible and no should live here unless they want to see a bunch of homeless people begging you for a cigarette, unmerciful traffic and overpriced stores in downtown. I grew up in Pinellas Park and I am still a resident of north st pete and I cant wait to move
There is a new auction site coming out soon that is like Red Box only for online auction. It's called EZREDBIDScom. List cost are never more than $.99 and no matter how big the item is, no commission on sales. Just 99 cents to list say a car and 3% seller pays to paypal when it sells! Beats Ebay!
This will launch mid-September and will be published all over the web!
I LIVED HERE ALL MY LIFE IM 30 YARS OLD NOW I MOVED FROM ST PETE ABOUT 8YEARS AGO I COME BACK IN VISIT BUT THINKING OF MOVEIN BACK I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA NOW
You can go to the Salvador Dali museum,, some his best work is there. Also go to the Vinoy Hotel ( to stay) or for brunch it's a beautiful restored hotel. The pier has great little shops, and great restaurant ,called The Columbia, nice, upscale and has great view of the water. And they are all about 3-5 mins away from each other.. Matter of fact, I was at the Pier today !!
I love St. Pete! There are a lot of people here, and downtown nightlife is great. You can go out any night of the week and find something to do.
There's literally something for everyone here. My favorite place is probably old NorthEast. It's historic with original brick streets, and there's a lot of flora everywhere. So many different varieties of trees!
Plus, there's lots of different beaches, parks, bars, and clubs to go to, and we even have tropicana field, which I live 2 blocks away from!
I was informed that If I wanted to visit the bay area in Fl and get more of a city feel that I should explore St. Pete as opposed to Tampa.
by city feel I mean? clubs, nite life, a lot of diverse ppl, restaurants, active streets, trendy shops, I don't wanna go or be where the streets are always empty. And i'm only 34 so I don't want to stay in a retirement town. Your thoughts.
St. Pete is definitely the place to go for night life. However, Pinellas county stops selling alcohol at midnight, unless on the weekend, then it's 2am.
Central, and 1st Ave N. are the best strips for activities. It's so centralized. Everything within walking distance.
The best time is the first friday night of any month. More people out than any other night.
Hey Kevin im moving to Florida in April and its been a tough decision on moving to Tampa or St. Pete. Watching all thease videos and peoples comments, im leaning towards St Pete. Im in my mid 30's and would really like to move by a nice beach and nightlife! Can you please give me advice on moving to what part of St Pete I would find a great area of the beach and nightlife?
Well, St. Pete beach is about a 5 minute drive from downtown if you take I-275 South. It will divide into two beaches: Pass-a-grille. Which is a strip of beach with key west style housing (small houses), and lots of bars and hotels with some basic retail shops sprinkled in (CVS, Dollar General, etc.)
The other side is Treasure Island. More beach stores, resorts and bars. It's more caterred to a younger generation.
Central St. Pete will give you access to everything you're looking for.
st pete is great. and its home to one of the best high schools with the oldest ib program in florida. what beats that? really for any youth its great :DDD the city i mean.
Not so much the heat, but the humidity. On any given summer day you can go outside for no less than 5 minutes and be drenched in sweat. Florida is a penninsula afterall...
The winters are not so cold either. Only when there is a strong wind do you really feel cool.
The southside is pretty hairy. I lived on 3rd Ave S. for a year and there was a homicide two blocks away. I would hear sirens all hours of the night, everynight living in that area, too.
People I talk to from Tampa tell me that I'm crazy to live in St. Pete... but I've read a lot about Tampa that would make me believe that place is a whole lot crazier.
Well-done video of St. Pete...love the restaurants on Central Avenue - best pizza since I moved to Florida is Fortunato's - there's so much to see and enjoy in St. Pete!
Yeah, you can grab a slice of pizza the size of your face for $2.50. it's sooo good, too and they have a separate bar, too... the bar tender there is a cute nerd type girl.
We love St Pete so much we are starting a web site dedicated to covering everything that makes it great. Your video does a nice job of capturing the feel of our great city.
I'd go there to accompany my cousin whom has had cancer since she was 13 and now she's 23. She would go to the All children's hospital & I really thought it was a lovely place even though I never really explored around it much. But I'd take walks with my cousin & we both thought it was very nice there.
St Pete, FL has a lot to offer for a fairly smaller city. Beaches, Art, Museums, Night Life, Home of the 20007 AL Champion Tampa Bay Rays, Fantastic food, A large downtown shopping district and much, much more. There is always something new to do everyday. There are music events, cultural events, festivals, carnivals and parades pratically every day. Its close to Tampa, Clearwater, and Orlando. Business is booming even during the economic slide. There is no better place to live in my opinion.
Wow. I've never been to St. Pete, but my parents have and my grandpa moved there. My family is thinking about moving there so I'm trying to learn as much as I can for my possible new home.
I go there almost every summer for the pass 3 years. Im not a hot weather person but there is one thing I love down there and that is the beach theater Joseph Bulson N.Y.
u are such a loser for sayin that because the homes past 54 south look 10 times better thaan the south side. i live on the southside 66 n past by the water, the houses are bigger with more land. and that where all the famous baseball players and footaball players had their homes. u knw nothing u prob stayed ina trailer on the north side lol. talk what u knw. hope u wasnt sayin that because thats where all the blacks stay. ass
St Pete is a nice place except for the southside, from Central south to 54th SS - this area should be bombed out and started over! If you want to move here then stay clear of this area!
That looks like a very beautiful place to live or visit but you don't hear about there as much as Miami or places like San Diego where the scenery and weather rock. I wonder why?
