i have downloaded the app and played some demos to give it a try. I am signing up for the playpass as we speak. Whoever said this is netflix for gamers is absolutely correct. That is probably the best way to describe it. All I can say is
MIND = BLOWN.
I would not waste money on the gaming box though. Just connect an old pc to your hdtv and get a wireless 360 controller for pc.
I have this console and it's pretty sweet! It's like netflix for gamers. You pay $9.99 a month to play anything you want on their service. The only downside is that it's 1080i/p (which sucks for those with older TVs) ONLY and it is corded internet only, no wi-fi :(! And some times the video can get a bit choppy when there is a lot of internet traffic. But otherwise it's a great little system that you can almost fit in your pocket just for $60 dollars (when they are having a sale)!! Get it!!
The average UK net connection won't be able to cope very well with this. When every user can actually receive at least 20mbps this might just take off. Until that point I see this being a flop.
1) You really don't own the games if you are purchasing a full playpass, UNLESS you are guarenteed that you can privately mod the game for your own use and have access to the game, even if onlive goes out of business.
2) Not everyone has access to the server, as some people don't have broadband internet access.
3) You can't create your own games.
4) I'm not convinced about protection, because there's always a bad hacker lurking and can ruin the fun.
Whoa, whoa, whoa wait.. So this IS, INDEED the next gen console? So now we are finally gonna be able to see some competetion from Sony and Microsoft with PS4 and Xbox "720" soon?
call me old fashioned but i would rather have actual copies of my games... Screw you onlive stop trying to murder the console market with ur gimicky pile of shit...I REALLY HOPE THIS FAILS
@ronoj2 yeah but onlive you dont have to download the games it is put on thier servers so you dont have to download and it automatically put on your account so there for wont be downloading or loading times
i dont understand will i need a better connection than the normal required connection for psn and will this thing have wifi because my computer is a dinosaur and i dont expect it to play any thing
OnLive uses cload technology so even on the oldest computer it can play Crysis on the highest graphics... its awesome that way ll im not entirely sure how it does that but... it does that.... all you need is an internet connection such as... 512kbps or higher... and thats it connect it to your pc and internet connection and your done.... as for wifi.... you might need a wireless adapter to connect to the console and then sync it from your TV to the computer and thats it =] hope i helped
first off it cant play crysis on the Highest settings that been comfimred it plays Crysis on medium with SOME high settings and no very settings, Second it cant do 1080P and you will see some lag here and there
pretty cool (:p) damn they failed without the motion controller though, but oh well, its better than nothing (^_^) what will be the ranging price my dude? do you know?
lol nah it aint like live.... all u have to do is buy the console and then u get the connection 2 the net for free.... all you have to do is make an account online and u buy the games through te console and it saves them to your profile so that u wont have to download them or have disks everywhere
only thing i dont know about this is if its going to have a gamerscore system like xbox :P
If it works it'd be great, the only concern is how well it'll stream games in countries with not so great internet connections, like England, where we get around 50-60mbps on average. The concept of watching other people play games live and playing, for example, the 1 vs 100 game live with other players sounds lagg-inevitable. But if it works out, this would be AMAZING :D
true... but they said a high net speed connection is a needed thing... so basically a minimum internet connection is ADSL2 which is 24mbps and according to them that makes it hardly lag

Well, neat idea, except a few problems:
1) You really don't own the games if you are purchasing a full playpass, UNLESS you are guarenteed that you can privately mod the game for your own use and have access to the game, even if onlive goes out of business.
2) Not everyone has access to the server, as some people don't have broadband internet access.

Pay the full price for a game, then lose access to said games if you quit paying to monthly fee?
HELL NO. I'd rather buy something I really OWN, and something I will not lose access to when I don't pay for a stupid monthly fee.

@Doppelgangergang long as you have the internet i think you can still play your games in single player the online fee is for multiplayer i think
