And sorry to say you are a part of the population just like I could be some day that something happens and we actually pay it back and it's expensive. The incentive is to be extremely poor and fat and let everyone else pay for your housing/school/food/medical expenses while having multiple children to qualify for all sorts of aid. I make the same $ as a bunch of people at work w/multiple kids and bankruptcies who pay no rent, free food and healthcare-I have no kids thus get nothing. rant done.
I think that Hospitals will charge insurance companies for things that were not performed , because who looks at their bill when the insurance company is picking up most of the bill. What about the drug company that put your wife in the hospital in the first place do they have any responsability? or the doctor who perscribed the meds.? hope all is well take care :)
Yeah it is kind of ironic that what caused the issue was her doctor prescribing the medication that made her sick. I think many meds are over prescribed. There is a drug problem that extends well beyond the pusher standing on the corner. The real 'Drug Cartels' are the drug companies. They push their newer drugs because those are the ones they still maintain patents on and can chrarge more for... Look at all the drug ads for syndromes you never heard of before.
man that sucks. the NHS in england has alot of down sides. i have private health care here but i still pay tax that goes to the NHS and there can be huge waiting list for operation in the UK. There is still stuff we have to pay for like some drugs and treatments so it not all free. but 48000 is fucking to much, but i am sure it is still worth much more.
I am not an expert on the various health care systems so I cannot say what the solution should be but the one the US currently has needs to change. I am fortunate to have insurance (that I and my employer pay quite a bit for). Even though my out of pocket will be a few thousand bucks, i can't image what we would have done without insurance and if I were not employed.
watch Sicko that will open everyone's eyes. shows just how screwed american healthcare is and how much nhs and canadian health care is so much better.
Regardless of your stance on the issues, Sicko is not a documentary, its propaganda filled with some half-truths and other lies. Michael Moore isn't altruistic like he paints himself to be, and is more like a televangelist, which may be greatly entertaining for part of the flock but isn't exactly factual or impartial.
I find Moore's films to be entertaining but you are correct, he has his own agenda... Namely to stir things up, get famous, and make money for himself.
I tend to lean towards the middle myself. I still tilt a little left on some issues (sometimes a little right) but mostly I remain moderate... 'Moderation in all things" is very good advice and tends to work most of the time. ;^)
Amen to that! *thumbup* On the one hand its good that the far left and the far right are motivated and vocal, as they are good at pointing out each others foibles, but it makes it hard to get the straight facts when sources like Michael Moore and his counterpart Rush Limbaugh only tell you one side of the story w/ huge omissions. =/
The one thing everyone can agree on though is COST. Costs are way too high. DC docs average malpractice insurance premium alone costs them $140,532. O_O
Firstly, If people fall out with you for speaking your mind they're not your real friends. :)
The guy who was best man at my wedding? Me and him don't agree on a lot of things, but he's still my "best" friend.
Also, with respect, watch your video again. Do you taste the arrogant American anywhere?
Statements such as "America is number one, America is number one" I'm not picking on you specifically, I'm used to it from my yank friends....Then they ask me why the rest of the world hate them..:)
I'm born with this affliction that I must say what I see. I don't mean to offend, I've rewritten this 100 times trying not to sound like an asshole, I guess I can't do that. But I genuinely try not to sound that way.
You watch my videos, you know "how i am" text can be horribly devoid of emotion.
Sven, I certainly did not intend to appear arrogant or imply that the US is number one. Quite the contrary, I hear that statement a lot from my fellow countrymen and in most cases, as in health care, it simply is not true. I am as patriotic to my country as the next guy but I am not blinded by it. :^)
I was simply trying to point out that we American's as a group do tend to think they are #1 but it just simply is not true. How can we be when we are number thirty-something on health care?
Offtopic, but arrogance is universal and human, and the US has no monopoly there.
Animosity IMO stems from the fact that 5% of the world population consumes 25% of its resources, and exerts a lot of influence economically, environmentally, politically, and militarily on the rest of the world.
Like Lindemann said, "We're All Living in America, its Wunderbar. Music comes from the White House, and in front of Paris stands Mickey Mouse." Hell, he sings the song in English, and he's German! =p
Sven notes that text can be 'devoid of emotion' (and misinterpreted). Unfortunately, a monologue in a video can also fail to pass on the true intent of the speaker. Looking at the video i can honestly see where it could be interpreted that I was saying I think the US is number 1. I do not actually think that myself. We are leaders in many things, some good, some bad. I certainly am not of the opinion we are better than anyone else and it disturbs me my comments were taken as such.
America has everything right apart from its healthcare IMO am happy England has the NHS am going for my last x-ray tomorrow after my bike crash it's all free. Nice video no wind noise unlike mine.
I'm not too certain we have everything else right but we certainly need to work on health care or our citizens.
Sorry to hear you were in a crash, hope your getting better. If you lived here you would be looking at "payment" options to pay off the bills your insurance doesn't cover. :^)
Ouch... 25 years ago I crashed my 550 Yamaha Enduro. I have a 5" long steel plate and 7 screws in my ankle from that. Funny thing, I never set off the metal detectors in the airport. LOL
I'm so grateful to live in Canada again and have free healthcare.
When I was in the States, I always wondered why they were taking money off my paycheck for my healthcare insurance. Any visit I ever made to the hospital was followed by a massive bill. One of those bulls near bankrupted me.
I still am at a loss to this day what I was paying my insurance company for?
I don't know why so many in this country believe that nationalized / government run health care would be so bad. I think some people worry (or are being convinced by mis-information) that they may lose what they already have.
The goverment needs to do like most NDN tribes do and give it free thats just me. P.S. I am Absentee Shawnee and I get free health care BUT It suck it's like going to the health department LOL. Ride Safe!
@Stridersng1 Good to know thanks. You gotta wonder how much padding goes into those bills.

I certainly don't believe anyone deserves a free ride. I do think the current US health-care system needs to be improved.

There has been so much mis-information spread around here that I doubt we will ever get any decent reforms passed.

We do need serious reform though.

Nothing to serious I only had to have a metal plate on my collar bone (broken). I just have to avoid airport metal detectors and big magnets.

I was joking the metal they use is non magnetic and does not set off metal detectors well the ones at air ports anyway ^_~
