  • Absolutely no protection from being hit by a car. They are Only effective from a standing fall. Just ask the manufacturers. It has been shown that drivers pass closer to helmeted riders, increasing the likelihood of being hit. Why not encourage pedestrians to wear them? It would make more sense.

  • Great video. Easy to understand. I was nearly knocked off my cycle this morning, made me think of getting a helmet (which i have ordered today)

  • @henrytheeigthiam: I don't believe you are walking with 30 km per hour :D

  • Statistically, mile for mile and hour for hour, there are just as many head injuries sustained by pedestrians. So, either walking is a dangerous activity, or cycling is a safe activity.

    Promoting cycle helmets persuades people that cycling is an inherently dangerous activity, which it isn't.

    If cyclists should wear helmets, then so should pedestrians. After all, each activity is as dangerous as the other.

    Where is the you tube video promoting walking helmets for pedestrians?

  • When you cycle you are going faster and cannot strafe out the way. Putting stuff around your head is going to protect you. End of.

  • @henrytheeigthiam You mixing the things: cycling is healthy, but the traffic is dangerous. Therefore, for cycling you must to take the precautions, prevention. For your comment, seems you've never rode a bike, or you've never had an accident on it and you think it never will happen.

  • a friend of mine almost died not wearing

    a helmet while biking a car hit his bike and he flew 6 feet in the air and landed on his head he skided on on his face down the whole block. The people who hit him were drunk they didnt help him.

    one decent person came out and let us

    use her cell phone we called his parents

    and 911 . he had amnisia for 5 hours. He is very lucky to be alive.

  • First thing about cycle helmets Louise, why is is only 0.6% of dutch cyclists wear a helmet yet they have far fewer cycle deaths and injuries?

    There are good reasons not to wear a helmet. Including less chance of DAI - the most dangerous type of head trauma.

    So I'd like the choice thanks.

    ingramjones- maybe a with and without demonstration;

  • just a thought, hope no one will give me any thumbs down on this because this is a serious issue... but i thought she was somehow going to use that brick wall behind her to demonstrate how safe her helmet is.

  • this is a very good ad about cycling helmets they should make law for kids
