  • im surprised to see viki and dorian speaking civilly to each other. they seemed to have been friends of some sort.

  • no offense to Erika Sleazak but did she EVER look young..? this was over 30 years ago which would make her 35 in this clip? sad to say she looks older. on the flip side, she still looks pretty much like this today so i guess she is aging well with the help of plastic surgery.

  • @MrChattycat

It's the hair, I think. In the early to mid 70s, ES had long hair and looked young. Then in the mid/late 70s she cut it short and that look aged her considerably; ever since then she's basically kept that look. In the mid 1980s, Paul Rauch somewhat de-aged Viki...her hair was longer and she would occasionally wearing jeans; but her matronly image has always just been the look of the character, and it seems like ES likes having her hair short.

  • @MrChattycat Gillian Spencer was awesome in the role of Viki before ES got the role. I agree her look has always been matronly.

  • I know this will bring all kinds of bad comments my way but IMO Strasser is one of the hammiest, worst 'actresses' ever to come along--no matter what role she played on any show. She doesn't act, she is silly and flighty and just plain awful! Did she ever even study anywhere? I can't stand her. She ruined OLTL for me the instsant she was hired and I welcomed all the replacements everytime Strasser left. Like Lucci, she trades on her looks and somehow got by on no talent.

  • @butchboy13 no i see what you mean. from all the dorians i have seen i like nancy pinkerton best.

  • @marcowuzmypimp I have seen them all to (except Dixie Carter who subbed for Nancy) I liked them all. When Nancy first came on she had long hair, but when they put her with Victor, they made it short and curly. It made her look older, Maybe to make the age difference not so noticable. When Claire started, people were saying she look like viki's sister. They thought she was to young, she wasn't.

  • @marcowuzmypimp I liked Nancy as well.

  • @butchboy13 i met strasser one time and she was such a diva and not at all nice...turned me off of dorian's character from that point on...

  • @MrChattycat I met both Strasser & Vicki Wyndham whom, as I'm sure you know, both played "AW's" 'Rachel' & I TOTALLY agree with your opinion of Strasser. Wyndham, on the other hand, couldn't have been nicer, sweeter, and funny as well. She was an actress---NOT a 'personality' as so many are. I was a free-lance reporter in the late 80's thru the mid-90's & met lots of soap people & they, 99% of the time, were much more 'real' than film 'stars'. Only a few of soap actors were divas.

  • @butchboy13 I actually posted a very similar comment yesterday. I felt it would be unpopular and generate negative comments. We'll see, but I was not impressed with her either. She was way too affected and DID overact. You stated it well. I commented also that I liked all the other "Dorian" actresses better than Robin Strasser; not to mention she was not very good looking IMO.

  • @butchboy13 I also felt she was a "Lucci" like actress.

  • @calalilygirl Thank you ALL for not stabbing me over that comment, I never knew so many agreed with me. I thought I was the only person in the world who felt that way!!!

  • Boy this was great back then!

  • one thing about this partiuclar storyline did Niki Smith actually come back or did Marco somehow find out and impersonated her and if the latter how did Marco ind out about her

  • Any clips of Marco and karen on the run from Ted Clayton and his thugs???

  • Marco took his brother's identity, Dr. Mario Dane when he died. So later, he was working at LLanview Hospital w/ a bogus doctor's licence. Then one of OLTL's best storylines was hatched: Switching Cat Carr's baby. That story was just excellent.

  • I think Claire Mallis was the type of actress they used in the mid to early seventies. Very upright, comprised and old school. If you watch Robin Strasser in the Tom and Erica's wedding clips on All My Children her acting is much more like Claire Mallis. You can definitely see the Robin Strasser spark, but NOTHING like 80's Dorian. They started going for MUCH more lively and interesting characterizations in the late 70's when they started aiming for a younger audience.

  • Is it just me, or did the nurse in this clip remind you of Elaine Pritze (spelling?..sorry) that played Dorian at one time?

  • Viki comes off as VERY "school-marm"-ish here.

  • Wow Viki tells the guy she needs money and he didn't even ask what she needs it for! That is trust! :)

  • who is this handsome young Greg, perhaps a bf of Tina's? Too bad they don't have a cast list with this. Had to have been a great cast at the time....and not one single guy with his shirt off! hooray! THAT gets old!

  • Greg Huddleston, son of Karen's "john" Talbot Huddleston. He was played by the late Paul Joynt, who sadly died at a young age of an AIDS-related illness.

  • Caire Malis

  • I think this Dorian is Claire Malis. It's great to see one of the other Dorians. LOL

  • Yes, but I don't like this one very much. Of course, I'm judging by the 20 seconds we saw her in this video.

  • Yeah, I would like to see more of this Dorian to check her style out, esp. when she's being "bad" Dorrie.

  • I do have to say, and I've said it before, Llanfair looks so much better here than it does today. It has an "old money" look....

  • yeah you're right about that. I *hate*today's Llanfair...and most of the Lord's.

  • She doesn't have to be a raving lunatic every second to make her Dorian a good one. She wasn't on very long so who knows what she was like(this was before I was born)

  • She was dreadfull .. lacking any sort of vim and vigor associated with the role now ...Worst of all there was little or no chemistry with Viki . Erika Sleazak Stole every scene they were in together. It was like no one else was in Scene Not so when RS took over the role .. she gave Dorian life. RS playes Dorian like someone who enjoys being nouveau riche . I can' imagine what CM was trying convey ..perhaps a nervous widow - after all she just killed Victor or so she thought

  • @JWns33 this was 2 years after victor lord died. CM was not the greatest which is why they recast her with robin

  • @delidude1999

You have no idea what you're talking about. Claire Malis gave notice to the show that she was quitting, that's why she was replaced by Strasser.

  • @adozencorners regardles--she still wasn't the greatest

  • @delidude1999

Quit acting like you know. Beyond this tiny clip, I doubt you ever saw her as Dorian.

  • @adozencorners doubt all you want and dont take an attitude with me. i am allowed to comment what I want and what I feel.

  • @delidude1999

Sure, and I'm allowed to point out when you're clearly talking out of your behind. You have no idea what Claire Malis was like as Dorian. Aside from her blink-and-you-miss-it scene here in this clip, you never saw her on OLTL. "She wasn't the greatest" was just you commenting for the sake of seeing your text on the screen.

  • @adozencorners I have been watching since i was 10; Iam 42. i have seen claire malis. DIDNT LIKE HER. she was about as good as karen witter and krista tesreau were for andrea evans

  • @adozencorners delidude why do you always comment just to be hateful. He can like Claire Malis if he likes. Some ppl were just better at being Dorian than her. It had nothing to do with Robin Strasser or the other Dorian's. She just simply didn't work. And I liked Karen WItter as Tina. If you knew anything about why Andrea Evans left, it was because she was stalked by a fan.
