That is a very unintelligent usage of the word "epic". An "epic" is a long poetic compilation generally centered around someone or something heroic, and this show is neither poetic or about something or someone heroic....but his scenes with Penny are definitely entertaining :D

While it may seem strange - Sheldon writing in the air it sometimes happens in PR China as a foreigner. If you don't understand what is being said to you it will sometimes be assumed that you just don't know that dialect and as the writing is the same for all dialects the person might start writing the Chinese characters in the air assumiing that you'll understand.

Actually, Sheldon is incorrect. Their behaviour is indeed typical when considered against the correct frame of reference. In this case, they are pursuing an attractive woman, doing things for her in the (vain) hope that she will reward them with her attention. Insofar as they exhibit this behaviour in all similar such situations, it is indeed typical.
