  • ive tried making this but for some reason the flaps where u connect rnt sturdy or anything and i cnt figure out y it wont stay together any suggestions

  • by 30 units did u mean u cut 15 squares to make 30? ik im pretty stupid

  • its like a variation of the bascetta star. So if you made the bascetta, you can also make this :-)

  • i put a little bit of tapes a the points because it don't hold hard

  • finally!!!!!! i made it!!!!!!

  • thanks to you, because this one gave me some experience of making origami models, even i didn't make it but i completed the 30 modules,i can't interlock them to make the model.thanks also because my mom impressed to me when i'm attempting to build them.....;)

  • you don't told us how to interlock it. so i can't make it right now

  • can you make bigger with more units?

  • Finished it finally! It got a little complicated, but at the end it turned out awesome!

  • Making it right now!!

  • wow! i'll try to make this tommorow!! it really looks like a bascetta star, so i can do it. At first i thought its kinda hard so i stop making it but then when i realize i already know how, it motivated me to finish it....

  • for the rectangle paper can i just use half a regular origami square

  • it looks really cool.

    but i have a question.

i made all 30 units. 10 units yellow, 10 units red, 10 units blue.

but i dnot have clue how to assemble it.

can you make another video of how to assemble it or can someone who read it send me a video were you can see how to assemble it?

  • what does it mean when it says 2:1

  • @origamiangeltime It's the proportion of the rectangle. Half of a square

  • @jonakashima pero en centímetros cuanto mide el rectángulo ?

  • good idea!!!

  • @jonakashima can you post a full tutorial on how to put it together I'm having trouble with putting it together.

  • it looks hard when its completely together but it's not hard when its not XD

  • But a lot of paper

  • Easy

  • Thanks for your reply Jo. I will try that.

  • Hi, I did the first grouping of 3 units together to make the first point. But I'm having trouble understanding how to make a group of 5. Please help. Thank you.

  • @creativebeam1 After making the first point, you'll have 3 unused flaps. Chose one and connect two more units to it, making a new point. Continue making new points this way, but you'll notice that eventually you'll have to connect the unused flaps of two existing points. That will happen when you have 4 adjacent points, then you'll join two unused flaps + new unit to make the 5th adjacent point

  • @jonakashima when u want to do it with groups of 6 to get more points for the star, how many "ship"-units do u need then?

  • It looks a bit like the star of Bascetta

  • where do you buy origami paper?

  • Nice model

  • I am using bigger pieces and they are falling apart :( now i have no christmas ornament :(

  • Do you know Jo Nakashima. This is one my favourite origami thing. I love you so much. Thanks a lot

e-mail me for your each of your new upload at (humayun.shahzeb@gmail.com)

  • I love your instructions!!!!!! I've improved making a bunch of Origami thanks to you, could you also have a skills tutorial like how to do some of the hard folds please?

    Thank you :)

    -Shades

  • Finally made this it looks awesome thanks man

  • This seems almost too simple lol

  • is this possible to make out of 12 mmodules?

if it is please make a tutorial.

  • I made it but i have big holes where the 5 points meet! And it's not strudy like my bascetta star. I used 10x5 cm paper, maybe it is to big for this model? Or I just need to fold to pratice more lol. Anway it's nice, thanks for this Christmas appropriate tutorial :)

  • I gave up at 2:21

  • It's really cool. ^_^

  • How many points are there?

  • First one to comment!!

  • Like the bascetta star!

  • I still can't do it, and I've spent 5 hours on it -.-

  • Just beautiful. Did I mentioned that you're a genius....my favourite so far.

  • @jonakashima can you create another tutorial on how to connect the groups of 5???

  • I don't know why but I love the sound of paper :P

  • so much view in a day

  • Thank you, sir. It inspires. ^ ^

  • I have a request!

Can you make some kind of christmas origami for us? Or if you already have one up its fine. But i really want to get my best friend something homemade for christmas. And i was hoping for a origami gift.

  • @AshleyAndElisaFanTv I know you aren't asking me, but he have some christmas origami tutorials, like a xmas tree and some stars to decorate it, most of them are in the reproduction list or simple design, or something like that, those are the easiest to do (according to his lists)

  • @AshleyAndElisaFanTv go to my channel, there is a playlist with origami for Christmas on the right side

  • @jonakashima can you please make an origami pheonix?

  • @jonakashima i wanna ask it,, but you already answer,, haha8

  • Can you make a tutorial for the "New Kawasaki Rose"?

  • Yay! A nice modular :D

  • I love this one and the Slinnky but i don't have so much pieces :(

Can you do the Origami Nazgul? the diagram is in the Tanteidan Magazine #129, pleasee! or at least the hard steps!

  • o_o lol im still working on the slinky one XD

  • @jonaskashima Fantastic work as always! Will give this one a go over the Christmas holidays. I'm curious how study this is or not? It looks fairly strong. I made a spiky Rhombicuboctahedron which uses square and triangle pyramids made from the "Bascetta Star" module but when I tried to make a pentagonal pyramid the units fell apart :( Would this unit be more suitable for making pentagonal pyramids? Look forward to hearing from you. Edward :)

  • @edwardholmes91 Thank you! This model is very stable and it should work well with heavy paper to make a sturdy star.

I've made one with pentagonal pyramids (arranged like a dodecahedron) and it works, but it's not as sturdy as triangular pyramids

  • @jonakashima would you recommend color on one side and white on the other?

  • @unnessasarylongname yes, if you like the white tips

If you want it all colored you can start with a square and fold it in half to get a rectangle colored in both sides

  • @jonakashima Ah thanks, the "Bascetta Star" module worked okay for square but seemed a little too flimsy for pentagons because of the angles. Will give it a try with this one. I was thinking with 30 units you can make the "Great Stellated Dodecahedron" as you have shown or "Small Stellated Dodecahedron".

I have ideas for trying it with things like spiky "Icosidodecahedron" and also the "Rhomicosidodecahedron" Will post a picture of the results if it works okay. Thanks for the speedy reply. Ed

  • Muy muy bonita.Me encanta!!!! :)

  • Very nice tutorial! :) I hope both you and many other people have and will enjoy it.

Btw, the diagram in the corner is a really neat touch. :D

  • @Msaorigami Thank you Martin! I'm sure everybody will love your star!

  • @jonakashima We all do- this is an AMAZING design!

  • I used to be a great origamist like you... until I took an arrow to the knee.

  • so basically an elongated Bascetta... still nice though

  • thumbs up if u watched this video dec 2011 11

  • Nice video, Jo. Thanks for uploading! This model is perfect for the holidays! :D

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what type of camera do you use to record your videos?

  • @EzOrigami thanks ;)

My camera is a Sony Alpha NEX-5

  • @jonakashima Great, thanks so much for the quick reply! I was just curious because you seem to be one of the only people to record their instructional origami videos in 1080p, and I think your videos in particular look really great! I recently purchased an HD camcorder for my videos too, and I am really looking forward to trying it out! Keep up the good work! :)

  • @EzOrigami heyy i know youu lol ur tuts are so freaking awesome .. keep up the good work

  • You can make a sims logo by only using three segments!

  • 17th

  • how or with what program do the diagrams?

  • @AlienGbByte I use Inkscape. You can find some Inkscape tutorials on my channel (there is a playlist with some videos)

  • @jonakashima Tanks

  • It kibda looks like the bascetta star

  • @StarStruckPshyc0 its the same only the paper size is different

  • @Magicsw0rd it works exactly the same as Bascetta's, but the units are different

  • привет из России))

  • @vladeck9000 Olá do Brasil :)

  • wooo

  • nice

  • 88th !

  • That would look cool on the top of a christmas tree or an ornament!

  • i want to hide it in my hands :)

  • Cool

  • fourth !! Really cool man

  • I am planing to do the ancient dragon. Do you think I should do the fiery dragon first?

  • @LordCuby By personal experience im advicing you to do more simple than the feiry dragon if you even ask that question.

Try Tadashi's snake dragon first and see how it goes - its much easier than both, still quite awesome.

  • @PhrozenTiger I allready have done that!

  • yeah 13va reproduccion

  • Looks really cool :)
