I have two problems with this: 1) the clarinets need to be WAY quieter at 5:26 and A LOT more smoother coming out of it (the last slurs). 2) That cumulative chord at the end was horrible.
@PhantomDevils Point one is basic technique; point 2 is a matter of tuning and, at this level, they should know when, how, and on what pitches to make adjustments respective to their instruments...
@PhantomDevils The point is that those two things I mentioned should only take a second to fix. So when you keep saying "we practiced for only three days" doesn't matter.
And I know. I've done many Conference and District bands...
@PhantomDevils Yeah, the performance is good but those are careless, idiotic mistakes that should've been remedied. If you all are such good players (which I assume is what you're trying to say given your sarcastic remarks), why weren't these mistakes fixed? Exactly.
@girolle01 The question shouldn't be why they weren't fixed, but rather why they happened. Those two mistakes never appeared in practice, and the reasons they happened on stage are simple.
1. It was hella hot.
2. Performing in front of hundreds of people isn't exactly comfortable.
I'm sure there are other reasons, but seeing as you obviously haven't experienced something like this, I don't feel the need to. And before you say they are excuses, they aren't. They are valid reasons.
@PhantomDevils Who the hell are you to tell me I "obviously haven't experienced something like this"? I just played this piece last week and, no, mistakes didn't happen, especially careless ones like this. If they're in an advanced ensemble, playing in front of hundreds of people and environmental conditions shouldn't make a difference.
Tuning. They should know how their instruments respond in different environmental conditions. And they should have that articulation down come concert time.
@girolle01 You're proof of that is overwhelming. This isn't really an advanced ensemble. This is only districts, the best of the city. All-state is what you're hinting at. oh ya, and......y u mad brah?
Anyway, this particular piece is probably a Grade 4...it's medium advanced.
I guess I can't compare. My level 2 collegiate ensemble did a recording of this so I'm probably holding these students to the same level of capability...
The bottom line is the mistakes shouldn't have happened. I don't care how advanced they are. Every high school student should be aware of it.
@PhantomDevils Hmmm. A hypocritical attempt to cause further instigation? Or a presumptuous attempt at sarcasm. I think all are valid. Hypocritical presumptuous sarcasm is not your strong point...
You're turning to irrelevant measures because you known I'm correct. Lol If I'm wrong, I'll stand corrected, but I'm correct. Okay.
@PhantomDevils Who said I was mad? Lol Maybe if I was wrong I'd be getting angry but I'm fine...stressed with University maybe, but not mad. How are you?
@PhantomDevils Let me reiterate. I'm not angry. Why are you insisting that I am? I just want to be certain that you understand the truth behind my factual comments regarding the aforementioned video...which you seem to be having difficulties doing. I am starting to, though, because you're obviously straying from the relevant topic, while trying to instigate an argument.
@PhantomDevils Who said I was Asian? And I'm gonna do what the fuck I want... You are rude and uncouth...you act like I've lied and said untrue things...
And sorry. You can't "land an argument" when you've lost it.
:) aw.. I played this my freshman year. We weren't NEARLY as good as this band, but I still liked the song..aw! :') I miss high school sometimes.

Other than that, nice.

@girolle01 it's good to know that you can only criticize two sections of this video after we practiced for only 3 days.
