birdman always get dunked on by european players, LOL, i really love watching birdman getting dunked on, Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol, Andrea Bargani, Shannon Brown even dunked on him, so as Odom and Kobe, there are a lot of players
The sound when he dunked was HUUUUU, that was awesome! Take that bitch! LOL The dudes getting off the bench to celebrate it just added more triumph to that dunk.
Also Turkoglu didn't play, I'm sure he would've helped...not sure what the organization's thinking signing Pops again. Wright and Weems coming off the bench are respectable, but the rest of the bench is pretty bad. Waiting to see what Reggie Evans does
I meant to say they're about 7 deep (Bosh, Bargnani, Turkoglu, Calderon, Jack, Belinelli, Derozan), I actually like Belinelli and Wright...Weems is aight coming off the bench, not a huge fan of Amir Johnson but he does work hard, Nesterovic is just taking up space...I think they'll be alright, just gotta work on that "D"
Of course i watch it. if i didnt i wouldnt know rasho. rasho was paid 8 million per year before in the raptors. now he is getting paid 2 million. hes not the greatest center... or even backup center.. but he is good enough. he makes solid decisions .. i barely see rasho make a selfish stupid mistake. so yes.. 2 million is little for rasho... ur dumb
he didn't consider retiring, wtf are you talking about? I bet you regret making that comment after tonight's win over Indiana, the guy does a lot of good things in limited minutes.
That's funny b/c I'm pretty sure he told Slovenian media earlier this year he would consider returning to Europe (he has a greek passport)...the only good thing he will do this year is lead the team in DNP's
that's not retiring. I'm pretty sure we were planning on signing Rasho even before this off season and he had made it no secret that he wanted to be back with us. It's a one year deal...why's it such a big deal to people? The 1.99 mil isn't coming out of your pockets so I don't understand the fuss. And it's not like he's killing us when Triano decides to use him. We needed a big man, he knew our players and staff and our system and he'd be relatively cheap for a big man (the LLE).
It would be retiring from the NBA, which is my point. I could name a hundred players that can do exactly what Rasho can do, and wouldn't cost as much. I have nothing against Rasho, and no the money isn't coming from my pockets, but your initial point was that 2 mil is LOW for him, and I'm clearly stating you could pay someone league minimum to ride the pine and do what he does. Give me league minimum and I would gladly fill his shoes.
There have been many players that have gone to Europe and back to the NBA so your point is false. We're not paying him to ride the pine...we're paying a professional that keeps himself prepared should we seek his service...and he has shown that he can give us some production when we give him minutes...and a mentor that will help develop our young bigs during practices. He also gives us size for certain matchups (Howard, Shaq, Yao, etc...), name me another player with that size that was available
Ilgauskas was still under contract with Cleveland and he's making 11+ mil (horrible but expiring)...Ben Wallace was actually contemplating on retiring but since he had connections and success with Detroit he decided to sign with them, he wouldn't have signed with us.
I believe Cleveland could've dumped Ilgauskas but nobody was willing to take on his contract and I don't blame them. Milicic was also available but he's a psycho, and overpaid. Shortage of quality bigs out there
you said you could name a hundred players that can do exactly what Rasho can do but wouldn't cost as much...you have yet to name 1...Ilgauskas makes nearly 10 times as much, Ben Wallace was unlikely to sign with us.
You admit that there's a shortage of bigs yet you say you can name 100 players that would offer the same thing as Rasho but on a lesser contract yet you have trouble naming one....contradiction much?
lol wow...now you're basically dodging my question. You said Rasho was going to Europe to "retire" from the NBA...now you're going to name me a bunch of players that would come out of "retirement" to play for the Raptors? I'd like to hear some of those names...and please don't name me any players that haven't seen a minute in the NBA...the last thing the Raptors needed was another European having to adjust to the NBA game
Who said anything about coming out of retirement? There are a lot of guys who are in Europe that are younger than Rasho making a pretty good living out in Europe. So I guess Bargnani came out of retirement to play for the Raptors? no, because he's not 33 years old. You can pick players up in the draft, or thru free agency. Daniel Santiago, Jared Reiner, Nikola Pekovic, Kosta Perovic, Bourousis, Fucka, Andre Brown,
Those players are making more in Europe than they would in the NBA and don't have any NBA experience. Why would we want to develop another player? We are in win now mode because we want to keep Bosh so getting a player that would take a while to adjust to the NBA game would be stupid.
If we were to get a player from Europe that has NBA experience, by your definition, that player would have already "retired" from the NBA (like your example of Rasho). I'm just pointing out your contradiction.
dude, I don't think you know how to read. I said name me a player with legitimate NBA experience. How long did it take Bargnani to adjust to the NBA....freaking 3 years, we don't need another one of those. We needed a veteran that knows the NBA game. Plus those guys you mentioned would probably demand more money than Rasho...all we had left to spend was the LLE during the offseason because we already spent the ful MLE on Jack. I could start naming names as well but you have to be realistic.
Several of those players opted to stay in Europe rather than go to the NBA, so you're right that SOME of those guys would demand more money, but not all of them. Brown and Reiner are had successful collegiate careers, as well as stints in the NBA, and are quality bigs in Europe. Santiage has had legitimate experience in the NBA as well, and is a proven player in Europe. Those are 3 players that have similar if not better characteristics than Rasho. The only thing Rasho brings to the table is
...his familiarity w/ Toronto. He also kept his home in Toronto, so this deal was in the works long b4 last season was over. In the league it's all about who you know, and Rasho knows Colangelo.
his familiarity w/Toronto AND his familiarity with success in the league. You're overlooking another valuable asset he brings to the table...veteran leadership and experience. He has never missed the playoffs his entire career until last season with the Indiana Pacers. His impact on the floor may be easily replaced but his experience and knowledge that he has accumulated from being on several playoff teams I'm sure proves to be an asset off the court.
Plus we've gone to the playoffs 2 straight years with him being the main Center of those 2 teams (Bargnani was still inconsistent). So it's not isolated to Colangelo's familiarity to Rasho but the team's success in connection to Rasho being a part of it.
he's solid, doesn't demand a lot of minutes and is always ready. He's a valuable mentor for our young bigs and when he's on the court he knows what to do off the ball and with the ball, he's actually more skilled than the average center.
