workin 1601 fix.. Put iphone/ipod on DFU PWNd with iReb, open up itunes and shift restore your firmware. After the extracting then it will restore, after that you will hear the USB connection sound (the sound wen u plug in a usb device) wen u hear that, kill Itunes.exe with task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) keep ireb runing, re open itunes again and shift restore again, this time ur iphone/ipod DFU will light up :).. once again kill itunes after usb sound. then run itunes again n repeat, FIXED! !

I know as much about iphones as anyone I know, but when I pushed a 3GS on 4.3.5 up to bb 6.15.00, it locked up hard trying to get it back to 4.3.3. i have an ipod touch 2g, i had it restored to original settings from jailbeak setting. then i found my itouch stuck on apple logo. then i tried DFU mode to restore it using itunes version 9.0 on windows 7. but and error 1601 keep on popping. i tried using windows xp still has error 1601. i downloaded itunes 10 and tried it again. walah!

it worked. im not sure though but i think the problem is software compatibility

This is how you fix a 1600 error. 1. Get your custom restore file. 2. Go the the folder:

'Itunes\Device Support' there should be a file in there called x12200_5_Recovery or something like that. 3. Rename your custom restore file to that same name

4. Delete that file in Device Support 5. Put the custom restore file (with the new name) in the Device Support folder 6. Put iphone in DFU mode. 7. Open itunes and click restore (Don't shift click. Just click restore and restore)

dude, i think i just hit a break through. use redsnow to jailbreak, and at the point where redsnow is asking you to enter dfu mode, enter it with the program, but at the moment your phone screen turns white press cancel on redsnow. while your phone is still white, open itunes and shift restore it.

@Soulessbody your ipod is stuck in DFU. the method in this video teaches how to fix it however I can't be 100% sure that it will work for you. If it doesn't just upgrade your device to the latest firmware via itunes.
