I don't disagree with the criticism of the Fed, but that Jefferson quote has been used and reused so much that people have forgotten that Jefferson never said it. The only verified part of the famous quote comes from an 1816 letter to John Taylor:

"And I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale"

To add comment - this was a response to what was then the prevalent practice of central banks: to issue money out of thin air to governments in exchange for interest paid by taxes. The Fed's scheme is slightly different and more sophisticated than this.

@tkuliocowske Thank you for the encouragement. I spent a good many years chasing after "answers" to questions about all of these orginizations. The large majority of them are well intentioned men and women that only want to better their surroundings. The enemy is not a shadowy group of men in some hidden room, but the "truth" that we have lulled ourselves into over population, over consumption and are on the verge of famine, pestilence and war. (Not because the bible tells me so)
