Hey everyone in 15 years old and i have kidney disease and i havent been on dialysist yet but i was wondering what it feels like for all that blood to be going in and outa your body i dont mind needles or anything like that i get LP procedures alot please get back to me
I don't understand why you're using lidocaine. It burns, that pain is worse than placing the needle without lidocaine. I ever did it myself, even when I was a 16 year old boy, and never used local anaestesia.
I'm writing to let you all know that I was once on dialysis and I know what you are going through, it's tough at times. I didn't get those 2 shots, never did, don't
know why that's happening in the video.
I just want to let everyone here know, it's ok, you will get through it,
and I do agree, it's a bitch sometimes to go through, but my only
suggestion is pray, and ask God to help you.
I had a chest acess and then a fistula, hang in there, it's going to be fine!
Any and all dialysis patients reading this: I'm a fellow patient, now 2 years on the machine. Like most patients, I go 3 days a week (Tues., Thurs., and Sat.), 3&1/2 hrs. per session. I just want you all to know that I totally empathize with you, and my heart and my prayers are with you. - Ken, in Waco, TX. :-)
to all that go through this treatment either peritoneal or hemo-dialysis my heart goes to you. since i was born i have being batteling this condition but i am not given up. If God has given me this journey is because he saw something in me that he knew that with his grace and mercy i was going to be okay. So please, do not give up and if you belief and have hope you are going to be okay.
It really makes me so sad to have to watch anyone go through this. I'm a young adult that is preparing to go into this field. I've been watching videos and studying the procedure but nothing is compared to what I will have to face with real patients in my care. My heart goes out to you and all who suffers with this. I only wish I could make the lives of the people going through this easier...but I can only lend a helping hand, open ears to listen, and a heartfelt conversation.
@YanPanChan you have such a kind heart! Wonderful you are going into the medical field. I am sure that your listening ear and conversation will be more help then you know!
@marvonn2008 kidney failure kills. dialysis isn't given to people for fun, it's given to people who are going to die without it and for whom the side risks are worth the alternative (death). a healthy diet isn't enough to cure many human diseases.
@DitDi, u sound like scratch record from the fifties do you know the REAL cause of kidney failure and its not high B/P or diabetes like the public has program to believe and go educate yourself they are people who have stop dialysis and their still alive dialysis is westernize practice the cure for all illness are in the herbs and the food that grows naturally grown from the earth people have been using them thousand of yrs ago before the pharmaceutical came into existence
@DitDitDah its clear to me you DONT know what your talking about dialysis is given for profit medicare is the health industry welfare program 98% of people who are on dialysis make there own urine after being on dialysis for yrs it destroy the patients nephron nerves causing them lose full ability to urine and causing cancer to kidneys once their remove that is when you will die if you dont take dialysis than patient is on the waiting list for kidney transplant which will last between 8-12yrs
This was really interesting. Thank you for sharing. I am a recent kidney donor (to a stranger) and I have a blog about my experience. I'm hoping to raise awareness about kidney donation...either living donation lke I did or at least get more people to sign their donor cards. I may post this video to my blog to help educate people on kidney disease. Thanks again!
@BestLaurenator thanks for your generous and compassionate act! I don't think I could ever accept an organ from anyone other then a stranger or the deceased. It would just be too weird for me at this point... You are soo brave and should know how wonderful it is for people like myself to know that people like yourself are out there! Thank you for all of your kindness.
dialysis KILLS it destroy your internal organs too many side effects to list and sadest thing the doctors arent telling the patients are family the TRUE damage it cause your best bet is to stay off the man made toxic medicine eat healthy and put more natural food in your body that your kidney reconize our body heals it self if you eat right and stay those poison meds ..good luck it is so rough for these patients and wish all dailysis patient the best in health
@marvonn2008 thanks Marvonn. Your support is appreciated and your advice is right on. Only problem is I have never ever heard of even a single case of ESRD repairing itself... Yet. I plan on being the first!
@HappilyDayzed yes your body and its organs does heals it self base on what u eat and being active its a known scientific FACT the human body repairs it self but not from blunt trauma or piercing to the vital organs but being on dialysis that would be impossible for the body to heal it self since dialysis strip the human blood from it minerals and disturbing the eletrolytes in the blood that is main reason their so many cardiac arrest, stroke and sudden death etc with dialysis patients
Respond to this video... yes your body was design to heal it self its a known scientific FACT eating the rite green food ,nuts and fruits are superfood rich with natural health benifets and being more active BUT doing dialysis it would be impossible since dialysis strip the human blood from its natural minerals disturbing and damaging the cardiovascular system and its electroytes causing stoke, cardic arrest, sudden death etc
@HappilyDayzed no problem my friend i believe everyone has the rite to know the truth its only rite that they know instead of living in fear one thing i can say ive never meet a former healthcare worker on dialysis im referring to healthworker who worked in dialysis clinic because they what it does after being on the job 5-7yrs
@marvonn2008 Actually, you're wrong. Dialysis is not toxic or harmful in anyway (unless of course you're sensitive to the dialysate). The problem with dialysis is that it doesn't REPLACE kidney function. It's not destroying your organs, but just supporting them. The only problem you would suspect is the kidneys, even though getting a good substantial support, is that they are still failing within you.
@Krazed4Tech actually you misread my post the medicine pills is what im saying are the toxins along with the solution that they use to flush patients blood in which turn into metals in blood stream but your kidney struggle to get rid of toxins but thee human body dosent recognize unnatural substance and after taking pills for multiple yrs it stagnate in human blood fluids causing you to get edema etc and developing other medical issue
@Krazed4Tech you sound like program FOOL eating green veggie and drinking water gets rid of toxins naturally that is FACT ive withness with my own eyes for 23yr in the health field what dialysis does to patients you have some nerve to type your misleading stone age opinion im typing FACTS you need step outside the box and wake up we live in a captalist society and mass who are on dialysis are poor people so nobody cares cause if truth ever comes out there would be no JOBS for dialysis tech
@marvonn09 You're an idiotic prick to be telling me I have no clue about how Dialysis works. I'm on dialysis. I'm 15 years old and I have to go through this horrid procedure. Eating green veggies is good for everyone, but it doesn't filter your blood. Drinking water is BAD when on Dialysis. Why do you think you get weighed before getting on and after getting off? They're measuring how much fluid they were able to remove. Don't be such a prick next time. I know just as much as the nurses do. I ?.
@Krazed4Tech im sorry if, i offended you i wasnt trying to be prick, drinking water is bad for dialysis patients its because once the body reconize the the toxin in your blood in sends out water thru-out your body just like when anyone who is stung by a bee the kidney sends water to localize the toxin that is you get edema or boyl or sollwen area we are suppose to drink water man body contains 65% woman70% why would it be wrong for your kidney it needs water the body relies on water
@marvonn09 You're half correct. It's red blood cells that are sent to the sight of toxins and wounds. The reason water is bad for dialysis patients is because we are unable to properly filter it out. Think of gaining 20 pounds by drinking 10 water bottles. It makes your heart pump harder and effects your overall health. Edema's just like swelling, fluid abundance in one area.
@Krazed4Tech can ask you a question how long have you been on dialysis? and how old are you are you a male are a female? water is never bad are you taking medication? edema is cause by your kidney sending water into your bloodstream due to a overload of foreign substance in the blood
@marvonn09 I'm 15 years old. I've been on Dialysis going on a year this month. I'm a male. Water is bad in the case of dialysis because the machine is clearing your blood of wastes and excess fluid. Edema has NOTHING to do with the kidneys. Edema is when there is excess fluid in your body, so when you press into your skin, a bump stays for a minute.
Eventually it just doesn't work.
@marvonn2008 Yes it does kill my father was on this for 50 days and on a ventilator doctors told us he's getting better than he had a heart attack and he was brain dead for like 7 days till the 2nd heart attack took him from us it was the hardest thing for me to see I suffered so much seeing him there like that calling him and he didn't hear me or know anything it really kills me to see people on this
@ADKIc3mAnX36O for the last 23yrs in the health field im convince dialysis WILL slowly kill you and cause further complication the human body especially if the patient is nonambulatory (patient cant walk) the toxins are the medicine its a FACT you have to understand osmosis and diffusion which take place inside the human body
dialysis KILLS it destroy your internal organs too side effects to list and sadest thing the doctors arent telling the patients are family the TRUE damage it cause your best bet is to stay off the man made toxic medicine eat healthy and put more natural food in your body that your kidney reconize your body heals it self if you eat right ..good luck it is so rough for these patients and wish all dailysis patient the best in health
I just found out my boyfriends blood type we match! I hope more good news comes with that! I want him off this so bad! Get my baby healthy! But I knew it going in to the relationship and love him more now than ever before! I wish I could help!!!!!! I will though, rather him or someone =) Bet that! That's why God put me here! xoxo
@Krazed4Tech too young!! I am sorry you have to go through this crap. Feel free to contact me anytime you may start getting overwhelmed. I am a good listener! <3
@Krazed4Tech yes I think 14 is too young. Any youth spent on a dialysis machine is a tragedy no matter how young. Dialysis shouldn't even be necessary but with the drugs we are given the food choices we make and a million other contributing factors it is a reality. I have compassion and empathy for all no matter the age.
@HappilyDayzed I agree with you. People have no sense of reality when they look at me. I keep telling them how lucky they are to not be me, and yet they continue to harass me and make fun of my life threatening disease. I probably have more of an outlook on life then anyone at my school BECAUSE I know I won't live as long as anyone else.
I am new to this procedure having only done it for the last 2 months, because of my lack of care of my diabetes I have been placed on the very bottom of the list for a transplant (VA hospital) so it looks like I have this to look forward for the rest of my life.. but I am wondering, was that graft something that the DRs suggested or the patient, it looks very uncomfy, but they have a little trouble finding a good spot to dig in on me, thanks for posting this. I have more respect for this now
@Kazahmish a fistula or graft is the only long term methods I know of for hemodialysis. A catheter is usually placed temporarily to provide access while the fistula matures.
Hey man I don't agree with you when you said, you shouldn't say you will be doing it for the rest of your life. You have to speak positive. When i was on dialysis I prayed continuously through my days, I constantly called the hospital to see whats going on....5 years i got a transplant. God bless you
@jahfreyjuvon chin up eh? You are right of course. Sometimes it is hard to see the forest through the trees and I lose my perspective. What you didn't know was I was made a medical marijuana patient by my nephrologist (I am 5'10" and I was down to 118lbs). Unfortunately, now the medical facilities around here will not give me a transplant. Everyone I went to and was honest with denied me on my marijuana use even though it was doctor recommended. So until they are printing kidneys.... Welll...
@shelbino23 that is about the same age as I was when I started and I am going on 40 now. Take care of yourself and you can last a long time on dialysis. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Good luck!
@HappilyDayzed...I've been on dialysis for 4 years and i have never heard of people using marijuana for kidney problems but I dont know everything but also having the screen name "happilydayzed" doesnt help me believe thats why your using but anyway you are in a catch 22. There is a transplant rule that if you use marijuana, you are automatically dismissed from the list so you may want to find another way to kope...
@bigtimermac1971 I am going on 14 years of dialysis now and it is only in the last 4 years now that I started using marijuana for weight loss and appetite. I had gone from 175 lbs 5'10" to 118 lbs. I am now stable at 145 lbs and it is totally from the ability to eat and not puke. Shortly after being recommended marijuana by my doctor I started a YouTube account here and chose that name because it was fitting at the time. I hope things go better for you then me.
@happilyDayzed..I'm sorry they not giving you a transplant but it has nothing to do with the Government. Marijuana is a stimulant and if you get a transplant you dont want to stimulate the immune system cause it will reject the new kidney or any other transplanted organ. you would go through all that and then lose the kidney
@bigtimermac1971 So that means I can't be on a donor waiting list? If I got a kidney I wouldn't need the marijuana ... Your logic is baffling. Thank you for your concern.
OMG, I am about to start my Dialysis and I am Not looking forward to this. I was wishing to avoid it by just going through the Kidney transplant, but now they want to do both.
i didnt make it 2 hav my fistula flu cause my kidneys 2 fail rapidly and hav a line going in my vein in my chest 2 weeks in hospital getting dialysis wasnt met 2 start til march but just cud not wait i was dieing
@MrsRandomCrapola thank you dear! Thirteen years and still 'enduring'. I could get a transplant if the hospitals were allowed (federal government still stands in opposition to science and popular dissent) to accept medical marijuana patients. I am being denied because of this.
We Filter the blood with Clycosorb, removing the antibodys that rejects the organ, and with NO dialysis we can transplant from anyone to anyone, our incompatible transplants with Clycosorb are showing better success rate then our former transplatns with compatible doners.
@tomaskling a few cases in Mass have been successful. I talked with one of the clinics Nephrologist last week about this subject and the warning was that, "Without an immune system you get sick a lot..." or something close to that.
This video is a great learning tool. Thank you for posting it. I'm a student in the Health Information Technology program at my school and I'm having to do a project on Dialysis. Kidney patients are very close to my heart because I have kidney trouble and chronic kidney stones. My goal is to one day be a nurse and specialize in Dialysis care. I wish you the best of luck :)
I have been reading some of these posts - Man why some miserable! I started dialysis when I was 13 and I am 42 so I am sure you can figure out how long that is! There are so many other things that can go wrong with your body that are FAR worse than having to go on dialysis! I was in hospital when i first got sick with an 11 year old who had a heart attack at school and died and I have seen lots of kids die from cancers. I just think myself lucky that I got renal failure and not something else.
Antoxidants potentially can reverse kidney failure- Resveratrol, CoQ10, Pine Bark Extract, Vitamin E, coupled with hypertension controlling drugs of course.
antioxidants are present in fruits & vegetables, and our body but in small amounts. without vitamins we'll die very quickly. also organs have the ability to recover quickly in presence of these nutrients with a proper diet.
A local renal specialist recommends Vitamin A & E plus Fish Oil for treatment/delay of the disease- probably in the USA they have no interest in helping patients ease suffering.
@sk30l your original statement is misleading. You stated 'kidney failure' not as you now state 'kidney disease'. There is a huge difference. From all the research I have seen there is no recovering from kidney failure ie. > 2% function. Recovering from kidney disease is a different story of course because there has not been the irreparable damage to the organs that complete failure is associated with. Thanks for sharing the info on reversing kidney disease!
@adanacro Thanks for asking adanacro. None of those things are imminent, but may well be down the road at at some point.. I was recently diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease and was wanting to know how all this stuff worked should that ever come to pass.... Glad to hear it's not all that bad. Thanks! :-)
@wojOVcov87 that swelling is natural. as you fistula our grapht matures it gets lumpy like that. also when the technicians cannulate you sometimes they miss or over-stick and causes psudeoanurisms.
Is it true that the dialysis place dont usually no your blood type? I'm trying to find out a friends who is on this but he says he dont know.. I wanna try to help but get no answers
Hi there I have 20 years in dialysis but still I am asking about that ball in our arm what did told you was made in? I put the neddle myself because I see and feel more secure than a nurse...
One question... If one patient was told they needed to be in dialysis... it is up to the patient to choose which one hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis he or she would like? Or the doctor choose it for that patient?
@pesater thanks for the question! It is left up to the patient to decide which treatment they prefer here in Washington State. I tried the peritoneal treatments and it did not get me 'clean' enough. Hemodialysis was best for me!
@pesater I work in a dialysis center and the form of dialysis depends on many factors. Peritoneal depends on if patient has had abdominal surgeries that have scarred the peritoneal area, how well the patient can maintain a sterile enviroment, etc.
where is this? and I wonder? do we really need to have the arterial tube filled also with heparin? because I saw in the video (but Im not really sure) that the arterial tube also has a syringe on it..
@spicyjampong This is in a public Washington State treatment center. It is not filled with heparin. It just saline to flush the site. The heparin syringe is connect to the machine physically by a mechanism that allows automated dosage of the heparin during treatment. The heparin is necessary to keep the machines filter from clogging.
@BratzBoy101 no that heparin is derived from pork. beef heparin is no longer produced in the US. if you don't use heparin they usually infuse 100cc of saline every 30mins to an hour to prevent clotting
When i was 11, my moms kidneys failed and luckly she was on dialysis then got a kidney transplant from her sister, today the doctors told her her they are pretty sure her kidney is dead and she needs to go back on dialysis... i feel bad, its killing me... its such a depressing way of life.... i wish none of these people have to suffer so much, its not fair.
almost all of my transport patients are on dialysis, and i have to say its a very depressing environment every time we set foot on the treatment floor. many of the people are amputees, most of them are passed out with barely any strength, they are either emaciated or obese, and most are bedridden. i tell you this is not a fate i would wish on anyone.
@DarthTwilight My mums got polycistic kidneys and was on dialy for 7 years then she got her transplant and i got it from her but my brother got away with it so i stopped going for hospital check ups because i carnt wait to die and get reborn again this time when normal kidneys i carnt wait for that day
The guitar music is beautiful. Who is it? My dad is going on dialysis next week and I am glad I watched this. Makes me appreciate what he is getting ready to endure.
I go three days a week for four hours. The needles feel just like getting a shot. It stings for 1 second. Then its ok. And I still bodybuild. Doing a show in july
Dialysis, you gotta be strong.I was 23 when first started.I'm 24 now and it's life which you get exposed to suffering 3 times a week not for the weak.I have heard of people die instead of going through dialysis. Some people rather die but as for me i like to stick around longer.I don't feel any pain when the needle go in because God helps me a lot.i don't make any faces when the needle is inserted cause i don't wanna cause any wrinkles lol.Thank You God.
@nycrtst33 u r brave, My brother in law is suffering from kidney disease, Dr. told to change the kidney but before that we'll have to dialysis of My brother in law. please tell me is there's pain of dialysis? and how much chance He have to cure for that disease. Changing a kidney is harmful or risky? or not... thanks,
I just found out today that my uncle has kidney failure and he's doing this now... it makes me really sad that I can't be there for him (kinda stuck in a different country) at this time since he's also going through a divorce :[ He's such a nice guy too. My grandfather died when he was forty-five from diabetes and stuff... went through nearly the same things, apparently. Gosh. Let's all stay healthy!! :D
Thanks so much for uploading this! I've got an intense test in nursing and this helps a lot. But more importantly, I'm praying for you and your family.
Is this because youre type one diabetic? Ive been T1D for 7 years, found out today my kidneys are in trouble. Im so scared, youre so strong and brave! keep it up! One day we will no longer suffer :) So do not fear for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand, isaiah 40:10
hi everyone my stepdad starts dialysis on tuesday april 27. his kidney is funtionin at 8 percent his other kidney he lost it in 2001 durin his aneursym surgery please pray for him thanks
@HappilyDayzed I'm sorry I thought they might numb it or soemthign so you wouldn't feel it at all. I'm facing issues with my kidney's right now. I'm horrified. I have a video up on youtube about it if you would like to check it out.
@horseylover123 They can and do numb the area at your request. That hurts as well. Numbing the area does not stop the pain. The needles really start to hurt about the third hour of treatment. Removing them can also cause quite a bit of pain. The alternative isn't very pretty so I grin and bear it.
I am interested in knowing if the speel given at the time of dialysis is the same as mine. {You have gained 3000so wi will take off 3500 and geve you the 500 back } which is not correct they only give back 300, check your in VS your out weight. I have just started this crusade to change this as it cumlative and drives a person down in fluid weight and causes cramps and vomiting. This is not necessary.
@christine146977 this does not happen in my unit. We weigh ourselves and unput the UF Goal ourselves as well. When not able to do this yourself the nurse will ask you what your weight was and what you would like to remove. It sounds like my unit allows a lot more patient interaction and control of the treatments. Sorry you are going through this! I know how it is when they pull too much and I can't imagine having to endure it on a regular basis needlessly! Stay strong!
I screamed like a baby when I saw it said 14 guage needle! I get stuck with 15 guages! I didn;t know they came bigger than a fifteen! Wow. I wish I could get the lidocane shots though. I have to bew bothered with the emla cream. LOL.
You could be right I wouldn't know. I never did learn any of the model numbers. Congratulations on your transplant! I hope it gives you many trouble free years to come!
I have sat here on and off all day and cried because my best friend and love of my life just found out he has to undergo diaysis because his kidney function is at 11%. I have been doing so much research to help ease his and my own heartache thank you for posting this video it was very educational.
Be sure to keep your friend ACTIVE. A bike ride is great therapy. Let them know they can live a long and happy life on dialysis. It is just going to be frequently interrupted by these treatments... Hang in there!
im a dialysis nurse in the hospital i work in we give the pts lucnocaine cream they put it 30 minutes before they come to the hospital it have the same effect but it takes longer time and we dont use such a big needles , i mean we use 16 g needle and it do the work .
i found that the lucnocaine hirt worse then the big needles so i stopped using after three weeks an went cold turkey i now put my own needles in but i also heard tha they are tryin to get rid of the licnocaine coz it damagesd the fistula
I'm a dialysis patient of over four years and im only 25. I saw this but is kinda confused me. WHY get extra needle sticks if you don't have 2? I mean the Kunming stuff hurts just as bad as the big needles going in so why on earth get it when u can just go through the pain of the two needles rather than four??
Each person is unique my friend. For me the large needle with no numbing shot hurt longer 'after' the treatment. I was sore for hours sometimes into the next day. For some reason when the lidocaine is used first that is not the case.
Good job with the video, cause i needed to learn about the procedures about hemodialysis..........thats a good way to teach students across the nation.....thanks
Hey everyone in 15 years old and i have kidney disease and i havent been on dialysist yet but i was wondering what it feels like for all that blood to be going in and outa your body i dont mind needles or anything like that i get LP procedures alot please get back to me

@MegaBanana34 I just read your response in a kidney dialsysis area. I'm so sorry about your
mother.
I know how your feel, sad and terrible. I used to be on dialysis myself, and as for your mom,
she's most likely saddened by this, but I assure you that she will get used to it, and so will
you, it's going to be ok. I know it may still be painful for you and I'm so sorry for that,
but take it from someone who's been there, it's hard, but pray that she gets a kidney. Hang in there.

@marvonn2008 thanks Marvonn. Your support is appreciated and your advice is right on. Only problem is I have never ever heard of even a single case of ESRD repairing itself... Yet. I plan on being the first!
HappilyDayzed 7 months ago
@HappilyDayzed yes your body and its organs does heals it self base on what u eat and being active its a known scientific FACT the human body repairs it self but not from blunt trauma or piercing to the vital organs but being on dialysis that would be impossible for the body to heal it self since dialysis strip the human blood from it minerals and disturbing the eletrolytes in the blood that is main reason their so many cardiac arrest, stroke and sudden death etc with dialysis patients

@marvonn09 encouraging words help us all meet our goals. Thanks Marvonn once more for giving me a smile and reason to keep fighting!

Respond to this video... yes your body was design to heal it self its a known scientific FACT eating the rite green food ,nuts and fruits are superfood rich with natural health benifets and being more active BUT doing dialysis it would be impossible since dialysis strip the human blood from its natural minerals disturbing and damaging the cardiovascular system and its electroytes causing stoke, cardic arrest, sudden death etc
marvonn09 5 months ago
@HappilyDayzed no problem my friend i believe everyone has the rite to know the truth its only rite that they know instead of living in fear one thing i can say ive never meet a former healthcare worker on dialysis im referring to healthworker who worked in dialysis clinic because they what it does after being on the job 5-7yrs
marvonn09 5 months ago
@marvonn2008 Actually, you're wrong. Dialysis is not toxic or harmful in anyway (unless of course you're sensitive to the dialysate). The problem with dialysis is that it doesn't REPLACE kidney function. It's not destroying your organs, but just supporting them. The only problem you would suspect is the kidneys, even though getting a good substantial support, is that they are still failing within you.
Krazed4Tech 7 months ago
@Krazed4Tech actually you misread my post the medicine pills is what im saying are the toxins along with the solution that they use to flush patients blood in which turn into metals in blood stream but your kidney struggle to get rid of toxins but thee human body dosent recognize unnatural substance and after taking pills for multiple yrs it stagnate in human blood fluids causing you to get edema etc and developing other medical issue
marvonn09 5 months ago
@Krazed4Tech you sound like program FOOL eating green veggie and drinking water gets rid of toxins naturally that is FACT ive withness with my own eyes for 23yr in the health field what dialysis does to patients you have some nerve to type your misleading stone age opinion im typing FACTS you need step outside the box and wake up we live in a captalist society and mass who are on dialysis are poor people so nobody cares cause if truth ever comes out there would be no JOBS for dialysis tech
marvonn09 5 months ago
@marvonn09 You're an idiotic prick to be telling me I have no clue about how Dialysis works. I'm on dialysis. I'm 15 years old and I have to go through this horrid procedure. Eating green veggies is good for everyone, but it doesn't filter your blood. Drinking water is BAD when on Dialysis. Why do you think you get weighed before getting on and after getting off? They're measuring how much fluid they were able to remove. Don't be such a prick next time. I know just as much as the nurses do. I ?.
Krazed4Tech 5 months ago
@Krazed4Tech im sorry if, i offended you i wasnt trying to be prick, drinking water is bad for dialysis patients its because once the body reconize the the toxin in your blood in sends out water thru-out your body just like when anyone who is stung by a bee the kidney sends water to localize the toxin that is you get edema or boyl or sollwen area we are suppose to drink water man body contains 65% woman70% why would it be wrong for your kidney it needs water the body relies on water
marvonn09 4 months ago
@marvonn09 You're half correct. It's red blood cells that are sent to the sight of toxins and wounds. The reason water is bad for dialysis patients is because we are unable to properly filter it out. Think of gaining 20 pounds by drinking 10 water bottles. It makes your heart pump harder and effects your overall health. Edema's just like swelling, fluid abundance in one area.
Krazed4Tech 4 months ago
@Krazed4Tech can ask you a question how long have you been on dialysis? and how old are you are you a male are a female? water is never bad are you taking medication? edema is cause by your kidney sending water into your bloodstream due to a overload of foreign substance in the blood
marvonn09 4 months ago
@marvonn09 I'm 15 years old. I've been on Dialysis going on a year this month. I'm a male. Water is bad in the case of dialysis because the machine is clearing your blood of wastes and excess fluid. Edema has NOTHING to do with the kidneys. Edema is when there is excess fluid in your body, so when you press into your skin, a bump stays for a minute.
Krazed4Tech 4 months ago
@marvonn2008 Actually, you're wrong. Dialysis is not toxic or harmful in anyway (unless of course you're sensitive to the dialysate). ADKIc3mAnX36O 7 months ago

@Krazed4Tech yes I think 14 is too young. Any youth spent on a dialysis machine is a tragedy no matter how young. I have compassion and empathy for all no matter the age.

I have more respect for this now
Kazahmish 9 months ago
@Kazahmish a fistula or graft is the only long term methods I know of for hemodialysis. A catheter is usually placed temporarily to provide access while the fistula matures.
HappilyDayzed 9 months ago
Hey man I don't agree with you when you said, you shouldn't say you will be doing it for the rest of your life. You have to speak positive. When i was on dialysis I prayed continuously through my days, I constantly called the hospital to see whats going on....5 years i got a transplant. God bless you
jahfreyjuvon 9 months ago 2
@jahfreyjuvon chin up eh? You are right of course. Sometimes it is hard to see the forest through the trees and I lose my perspective. What you didn't know was I was made a medical marijuana patient by my nephrologist (I am 5'10" and I was down to 118lbs). Unfortunately, now the medical facilities around here will not give me a transplant. Everyone I went to and was honest with denied me on my marijuana use even though it was doctor recommended. So until they are printing kidneys.... Welll...

@HappilyDayzed...I've been on dialysis for 4 years and i have never heard of people using marijuana for kidney problems but I dont know everything but also having the screen name "happilydayzed" doesnt help me believe thats why your using but anyway you are in a catch 22. There is a transplant rule that if you use marijuana, you are automatically dismissed from the list so you may want to find another way to kope...
bigtimermac1971 9 months ago
@bigtimermac1971 I am going on 14 years of dialysis now and it is only in the last 4 years now that I started using marijuana for weight loss and appetite. I had gone from 175 lbs 5'10" to 118 lbs. I am now stable at 145 lbs and it is totally from the ability to eat and not puke. Shortly after being recommended marijuana by my doctor I started a YouTube account here and chose that name because it was fitting at the time. I hope things go better for you then me.
HappilyDayzed 9 months ago
@happilyDayzed..I'm sorry they not giving you a transplant but it has nothing to do with the Government. Marijuana is a stimulant and if you get a transplant you dont want to stimulate the immune system cause it will reject the new kidney or any other transplanted organ. you would go through all that and then lose the kidney
bigtimermac1971 9 months ago
@bigtimermac1971 So that means I can't be on a donor waiting list? If I got a kidney I wouldn't need the marijuana ... Your logic is baffling. Thank you for your concern.

Why don´t you do as we do in Europe?
We Filter the blood with Clycosorb, removing the antibodys that rejects the organ, and with NO dialysis we can transplant from anyone to anyone, our incompatible transplants with Clycosorb are showing better success rate then our former transplatns with compatible doners.
Dont understadn why Amerika isnt using this.

Antoxidants potentially can reverse kidney failure- Resveratrol, CoQ10, Pine Bark Extract, Vitamin E, coupled with hypertension controlling drugs of course.
sk30l 1 year ago
@sk30l those are powerful statements. Any proof of what you say is true? References to your statements would be nice.
HappilyDayzed 1 year ago
@HappilyDayzed
antioxidants are present in fruits & vegetables, and our body but in small amounts. without vitamins we'll die very quickly. also organs have the ability to recover quickly in presence of these nutrients with a proper diet.
A local renal specialist recommends Vitamin A & E plus Fish Oil for treatment/delay of the disease- probably in the USA they have no interest in helping patients ease suffering.
sk30l 1 year ago
@sk30l your original statement is misleading. You stated 'kidney failure' not as you now state 'kidney disease'. There is a huge difference. From all the research I have seen there is no recovering from kidney failure ie. > 2% function. Recovering from kidney disease is a different story of course because there has not been the irreparable damage to the organs that complete failure is associated with. Thanks for sharing the info on reversing kidney disease!

PaulMexUsa 1 year ago
One question... If one patient was told they needed to be in dialysis... it is up to the patient to choose which one hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis he or she would like? Or the doctor choose it for that patient?
pesater 1 year ago
@pesater thanks for the question! It is left up to the patient to decide which treatment they prefer here in Washington State. I tried the peritoneal treatments and it did not get me 'clean' enough. Hemodialysis was best for me!
HappilyDayzed 1 year ago
@pesater I work in a dialysis center and the form of dialysis depends on many factors. Peritoneal depends on if patient has had abdominal surgeries that have scarred the peritoneal area, how well the patient can maintain a sterile enviroment, etc.

spicyjampong 1 year ago
@spicyjampong This is in a public Washington State treatment center. It is not filled with heparin. It just saline to flush the site. The heparin syringe is connect to the machine physically by a mechanism that allows automated dosage of the heparin during treatment. The heparin is necessary to keep the machines filter from clogging.
HappilyDayzed 1 year ago
@spicyjampong Heparin is a blood thinner. It's a requirement so that the catheter does not clot.
BratzBoy101 1 year ago
@BratzBoy101 no that heparin is derived from pork. beef heparin is no longer produced in the US. if you don't use heparin they usually infuse 100cc of saline every 30mins to an hour to prevent clotting

This is not necessary.
christine146977 1 year ago
@christine146977 this does not happen in my unit. We weigh ourselves and unput the UF Goal ourselves as well. When not able to do this yourself the nurse will ask you what your weight was and what you would like to remove. It sounds like my unit allows a lot more patient interaction and control of the treatments. Sorry you are going through this! I know how it is when they pull too much and I can't imagine having to endure it on a regular basis needlessly! Stay strong!

At the beginning that was the Fresenius 2008H and the 2008K right? I was on both of those til I had my transplant in 2007 :)

You could be right I wouldn't know. I never did learn any of the model numbers. Congratulations on your transplant! I hope it gives you many trouble free years to come!

@angieskidney Yes, the second machine is definitely a Fresenius, because we have that exact one in our center.
