Spirit had like 1 "love" song on their first 4 lps, the wonderful "Darlin' If". I think if they had more of what the companies wanted to sell, they would have been better known to the public. But they were without a doubt one of great bands of the '60s, '70's, 80's and 90's.
These guys took the 1984 warning serious like others at the time, but no one listened, instead they played right into it. This music was right. It just came into full effect later.
@StevenCharlesJazz jan.16 2012 Me too!, One of the best shows ever in my 60s-70s concert going days was, SPIRIT, and the Moody BLues together at the L.A. Forum, around the time U mentioned (1970) or so. Excellent show! The drummer is now in his 80's, wow.
saw these guys several times around '69-70, in san diego, always so f'n cool, they were what every young rocker wanted to look like and play like! Randy kind of tripped out after that and things changed, but JoJoGunne w/Jay Ferguson were damn good also '71-'73. Jay used to work those tamborines like no other since.
Man this sounds just like Stairway to heaven Too !

It was not Musikladen, it was Beat Club which ran from 1966 to 1972. Musikladen was the replacement show which ran from 1972 to 1984.
