  • lol i liked that little poof after ur shaked the powered ingredients :D

  • were would u go to get sandalwood powder?

  • @WhiteWillowSage Any new age shop should carry some ... But you could also try health foods stores, too.

  • I want to know what your views are on pest control...I have mice in my house and I had to use a trap the other day because they are in my kids' rooms and when the trap snapped I felt so horrible. I buried the mice that I caught and asked their forgiveness, I understand they are only trying to find food and shelter for their offspring the same way I am but I have to worry for my kids' health...let me know if I am doing the right thing.

  • EWY! i hate spiders XD i just....eh tho there was one outside my window alll summer i called him ted :p ted the spider

  • OMG I'm totally copying your recipe it sounds amazing! Totally subscribing. Love your energy and your skill!

  • Your symbolism about spiders and the web of life are absolutely beautiful and touching. :) I wish I wasn't afraid of them haha Blessed Be )O(

  • I have made all of your Sabbat oils since Beltane, but Yule is my favorite so far! I love it so much, I want to wear it all the time! Thanks for sharing!

  • I have made all of your Sabbat oils since Beltain and so far Yule is my favorite!!! I love it so much ~ I want to wear it all the time!

  • ur soo dammm sexy

i want u in my web of life

  • You have such great ideas, Flora. :)

  • hi i was wondering what is the diffrence between tears and resin please tell me i really want to know.

  • @TheNewWitch they are the same thing. "dragon blood tears= dragon blood resin" but more specifically in little peble form, not like powdered or crushed...if u REALLY wanna know..lol

  • How do you burn your incenses? I want to make my own, but I don't think charcoal blocks are very earth friendly.

  • @RainGoesPitterPatter

Charcoal is about the best way save for 'fuming'...placing the incense on a heated plate and fuming the incense essential oils out of the mix. Charcoal, btw, is perfectly natural if you get the bricks without the nitre in them. Happy Yule!

  • Oh thank you!

    Happy Yule :)

Have you tried Flora's solstice cakes? They're delish!

  • Would vegetable oil work as a carrier oil?

  • @daintyhippie It can in some traditions, though it's not recommended as it becomes rancid easily.

  • Does whole foods sell reasonably priced oils? I have been trying to find a place around here that does. The only two whole foods I have found in mn are in Minneapolis and St Paul. I might go check one out when I am less poor. x.x; As I said, I have just been trying to find a cheap local place for oils. I want to start using them more. :)

  • thank u so much for commenting back!

  • Yes you can. Rosemary (as stated below) is one of my Favs!!! Pine needles from outside are soo yummy as well. Cinnamon is great. Don't hold back...

  • can you put a link to where you get your oils?

  • Just google Florapathics

  • thank you so much hun

  • as i like to borrow my herbs from my kitchen alot, lol, i sometimes do what i call a "sniff meathod"...i go through my herbs and sniff out the ones that remind me of certain things, in this case yule and winter and anything that is related. then i go back and research the herbs i chose to find their meanings. also, try going to a park or someplace. pine and pinecones smell great on their own!

  • lol, the above was for kitinkler!!

mr. spider...i understand the meaning and use, it still freaks me out though! it shouldn't...they are now just a mineral shell, but i guess i just don't feel like smelling burnt mr. spider...even if it isn't noticeable. i am going to keep this on note though!

  • Great video! Thank you so much for sharing your family's practice with all of us!!

  • sometimes when I need a cheeper incense I burn balsam wood covered with lavender and rosemary(I have lavender and rosemary that grows all year in my yard). This year I'm going all out because its my first Yule with my new coven(we've establish a few weeks ago) and I'm really excited!!! Blessed be!

  • i like how after u shake it there was a puff of sandalwood powder lol (sorry im easily entertained)

  • Hugs back to ya!!!

  • yay anothe vid on inscence.. i love your vids on inscence and oils.. just wish we had smell o vision!!

  • Do you burn the incense in an oil burner besides well.. oils? Or do you burn the incense in some other type of burner?

  • You can use a charcol block or just burn them.

  • I was just thinking, I know your sons practice, but what about your husband? Does he get involved in ritual or practices? I'm sure even if he doesn't he supports it fully :] I was just curious :o

    Blessed Be.

  • Thanks so nice ``

  • lovely :)

  • Ohh dear goodness... I also keep dead bugs in a bottle, most of them are spiders hahas... we hav something in common :)

  • Thank you for another great vid. I love to see how everyone makes their stuff differently and I get new ideas too! I am waiting on an order of herbs that I will be using to make my winter solstice stuffs. Can't wait. :) The spider is a really interesting idea. Luv learning from you.

  • Great! I like the symbolism behind using the dead spider, but they freak me out so much, I think all I would think about is "OMG there's a dead spider, and I'm inhaling it!" LOL

i really like the idea of finding something that symbolizes new beginnings for me and adding that in. Thanks for the idea!

  • ok like a spider......like a dead bug? could someone give me insight on what the spider is used for magically?

    happy thanksgiving you all

    <3 betty

  • A spider is a symbol of the Goddess and the circle of life. Everything is connected (like the web)

  • im soooo inspired !!!! OMG )O( x x x thank youu

  • i hav a question...do u hav a recipe that requiers less ingrediants? i can get the spider but some of the other items are going to be a lil harder. i love the video tho!

  • You could just use Pine wood or needles and Cinnamon! That smells wonderful.

  • Nice recipe for the incense; I may try this one out this Solstice. Thanks!

  • Thank you for posting this Flora!

  • Wow, how did you afford such a large bottle of Sandalwood EO? It's *very* expensive, dear! Awe...and I just learned that we don't have a Whole Foods store in Iowa--what a bummer, because I've always wanted to shop there. *sigh* BTW, those were VERY long pine needles--I'm jealous! Try infusing them in vinegar for meals. They're VERY high in Vit. C.

Also, Vervain is a herb of Lughnasadh; in Britain it is traditional to gather it with the rising of the Dog Star at the onset of August.

  • yay thank you for this! im going to try this out soon :D

wont be using the spider though - they scare me! :)

    BB

  • I love this. I've used a spider web, but not a spider. Oh I have to do this! Thank you!

  • Very good video !!!!!!!!!!!! And the fallen spider what great and powerfull item!!!!! I use sprider web on cuts it works very well!!

  • Nice! ^_^ I like the oils you make. You seem to enjoy the oils a little more than the incense, but the oils are probably closer to a perfume-like smell.

  • Thank you for the wonderful video...

    yule is my favorite holiday...

deffernently gonna make that oil this year...

    goddess bless

  • Wondeful video... i'm glad you are feeling better now hun )O( x

  • Wow the oil must smell absolutely divine! Also the idea of the fallen spider is really interesting. The incense seems to be great! Oh I have something to tell you which I'll pm you for! :D

    Blessings dear sister,

    Dimitris

  • So how do you burn the incense? Do you keep it in that jar? This is the first time I think I've ever seen someone make incense.

  • I make incense every Sabbat. go back and check out my other incense blends, I think you will enjoy them. I burn them in our bonfire, cauldron or in my glass dish with a fire proof plate underneath.

  • @CharmingPixieFlora so do you just light the ends like you would a sage smudge or is there some other way to burn incense in a jar? I know that's a dumb question, but the only incense I've ever burned is that from a stick. It's not loose like yours is, but I think doing it your way will create a better smell. I don't think I've ever burned an incense stick that I've ever liked.

  • You can use a charcol block, (light that then sprinkle the incense on that) or you can use Salt Peter.

Coconutsummer11 has a video about the blocks and Nightryane2008 has a video about the salt peter.

Let me know if this helps.

  • Don't forget: it's the special incense-charcoal blocks that are used for burning incense. They come in short rolls and are pressed discs of charcoal with an indentation or impression into which you may sprinkle your granular incense. Do not use the kind we use to cook food with outside! I've seen a lot of people make that mistake over the years. *shudders*

  • You really caught me at the mention of the spider...I was hooked! :) I love the idea of the fallen spider, it's very touching. And both the incence and oil sound like they smell wonderful!

    Blessed Be
