Never heard of care2 until just few minutes ago.

I received an e-mail from care2 warning about a security breach.

Where did they get my e-mail? Why are they sending me messages? Am I somehow a member without being aware of the fact?

Is this phissing?

Nowadays (August, 18-2011) Care2 has more than 16 million members through all the world and the petitions (everyone can make a petition) has more than 73 million petition signatures between all the petitions.

So you see Care2 is "big" and you see how fast is growing (more than 8 million members in 2008, more than 16 million members in 2011)

The sad thing is that Care2 is becoming polluted with trolls.Good people who are contributing valuable,relevant information to discussions are being baited by trolls who try to 'bully' people with opposing views.The trolls try to agitate people by attempting to belittle and insult them.When people defend themselves, the 'trolls' flag and report people for no good reason and are getting people unjustly suspended and banned.Care2 needs to stop censuring and unjustly suspending the wrong people.

And no, 90% does not go to overhead. For example, the Nature Conservancy is one of the charities Care2 donates to, and according to the BBB, 81% of their money goes directly to protect land, 8% to fundraising, and 11% to administration. Sounds reasonable to me.

Your hatred and pure fabrication of facts sounds to me like the denial of someone who doesn't want to admit that other people are doing good while you aren't. At the very least, admit you are apathetic and leave people alone who aren't.

And those contributions came from the companies, but they wouldn't have been made if it wasn't for me. So wherever the money came from, what matters to me is that it went to the charities. It's the result that counts.

Because lots of individual people give them small amounts of money every day. So I'm not just whining about the world and doing nothing- I am donating money and doing Care2 in addition to what I do in real life. Do you realize how much charities have accomplished with donated money? Not everything can be done individually- some projects require large organizations.

I don't believe they are conspiring against me. I believe their servers are overloaded, and unfortunately, they don't have the staff to deal with it. Not easy running a free service you know...

care2 CLAIMS to have more than 12 million members. most of those accounts are not active. either they are dormant from people who signed up once and never used the site or they are members that have requested to have their acct deleted as i know of MANY that can't get care2 to delete their accounts. they're claiming 12 million on there, but it's just numbers for them. there are a group of people that use the site every day - most however, don't use it at all.

care2 seemed like a good thing when i joined. and within days i had a few of my stories go to their front page, but very quickly the tight clique that exists on that site had my profile, front page stories and all my content deleted for no reason. i tried to get answers from the care2 support, but no replies.
