That beam of light showing the location of the ship parts...it very much reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus, how you used your sword to locate Colossi. Actually, this game seems to have quite a bit in common with Shadow. Only it's in 2D. I approve of this! Nifflas is the guy who also made...Iji, right? And Hero: Core?
I was going to wait for your next hiatus to start watching this LP but changed my mind.
Playing Knytt Stories, I was surprised by how diabolical elements of Nifflas' levels could be at times compared to Knytt. Also, adding powerups made Knytt Stories' levels less open and nonlinear, traits I really liked about Knytt. Though, as you said, both are good.
I promes i know the guy who made knytt ! and whitin a deep forest . i know where he live. he live about 3miles from me! 5km . in sweden in umeå in renmarkstorget ! i live 3miles away on axlavägen/backenvägen
I don't have any real idea why, but when I present this game to someone and let them play it theres always some creature they take a liking to and take about a minute watching and following it. For me, it was the stickly-legged green thing on the bridge. That's one great thing about this game: active environments. There's always something moving about!
I just love the concept of Knytt (and Knytt Stories, for that matter). Just going around, listening to good music and seeing beutiful scenarios... I think that there should be more games like that.

No, sadly, no. Play it with Parallels or install Windows 7 in Bootcamp like I did. in fact, i installed Windows only to play all of Nifflas's games, from Within a Deep Forest to Knytt Stories and everything in between. :)
Ah, I see. Good for you, I doubt many people can say that they have accomplished that. If you don't mind me asking, what is your favorite video that you made?
Wrong. Blind-run commentary is usually pretty bland, and blind-run gameplay is usually ridden with death and failure. Pre-playing a level is almost essential for LPs that don't hinge on shock or surprise, like Don't Eat The Mushroom.
I dislike that fact, though, because it somewhat ruins LPs of horror games, because you don't get to see the LPer freak out during the scares, because they already played it and know where to go and what the puzzles are.
Only on the internet where you'll find a nice casual exploration game. Nifflas does sound like a cool type.
The story you told about him sounds like he let people mallide his designing style to please the audience. I believe he made the right choice to breakaway from that, and continue to be himself and do what he enjoys. There's nothing to gain from the world so I'm proud.
Watching this, immediately after watching you play Hell Temple in La-Mulana, is just... creepy. Hearing you going from yelling/screaming/crying to just.. going with the flow, is eerie.

I always thought the exploration of both Knytt and Knytt Stories were extremely nice and ambient, but I prefer Stories because the power ups add to the exploration you can go off and do. Which is why stuff like Gaia works so well.
The "clicking" sound during some jumps, the relative size of the character to the rest of the game, the wall jumping all makes the character remind me a lot of the main character of I Wanna Be the Guy.
Yeah, it looks kind of like I Wanna Be The Guy, except made by someone who wants to avoid harming you, rather than by someone who tries to ensure you die as often as possible.
My fave part of this game, personally, is once you get all the ship parts and then trek all the way back to the beginning through all the nice, ambient, natural areas of the game you went through before. This game is just really, really nice and relaxing.
Actually, Nifflas stopped working on Knytt Experiment because he was doing everything people suggested just so he could please the crowd. He didn't like that, he just wanted to express himself. Good luck, Deceased Crab. Look forward to my own LP after I finish Soul Blazer. It has a surprise for you that doesn't involve soundboards.
Man, DCrab, you're right, this game is just loaded with atmosphere. Every so often it's nice to play or watch a game like this-it's true that its simplicity and ambience is reward enough.
LMFAO I thought that was a buffalo, then you said it was a bird and I thought "There's no way that thing can fly." Then sure thing it starts flying. This game gets a 10 out of 10 for having a flying buffalo.
So is this game a free download? If so, does it take a decent computer to use?

Well. This was unexpected.
Those 3 weeks went faster than I expected. Though, I'm glad you came back to Video LPs at this point, as many others seem to have been...laggin behind a bit lately due to the current times. Hah.
Good luck, Deceased Crab. Look forward to my own LP after I finish Soul Blazer. It has a surprise for you that doesn't involve soundboards.

At 4:04-4:13, is that Mario and Luigi on that platform?
Fhrgaderga 4 years ago
It does kind of look like them due to the video fuzziness, but in the game you can easily tell that it's not them.

Audio's pretty quiet in this one. And I suppose the letterbox format is because Knytt doesn't run full-screen or something?
captainblue50 4 years ago
It "CAN" run on full screen :P it just not the same quality.
