  • So why didn't the jackass that uploaded cal the first intro "Golion" instead? Everybody should know that calling it "Voltron" is like calling Gatchaman BATTLE OF THE PLANETS, and that takes away the true essence of the original show!

  • i seen voltron when i was a kid and goshugun lol,i was a 3years old,i liked it alot ^_^

    then i rembember i got a that robot from voltron as a birthday gift after like 4-5 years ^_^ thank god they were dubbed cause i couldn't read at 3 years old ^_^ but i was learning too :D and it also made me learn how to draw

    oh and yah i remember goshugun was macron 1

  • someone told me at a anime convention that voltron is not considered an anime. whoever told that guy to say that, they must be losing it.

    also i was watching a history of anime on youtube and transformers was on their.

    transformers is not anime. i think.

  • Toei did worked on the animation for Transformers. They later created they're own Transformers series in 1987 based on the Headmasters toylines telling a different story.

  • voltron was my favorite robot (apart from optimus prime). Man, remember having a model-toy of it and watching the cartoon show all day long. Do you guys think that voltron's (as well as other voltron versions) face resembles a buddha like face? Would be kinda cool to have a gundam like face.

  • I use to have the daugram toy when I was a kid, that was like...1982 I think? ( grr I'm showing my age! lol) I loved that robot! I also remebr ( someone correct me if I'm wrong abotu this) But I SWEAr that year there was a comic book out where there were using a robot that looked exactly like daugram but called it "robotech" right before the actual robotech came out

    anyone remeber this?

  • Technically, "Voltron" IS American-made. It's just that almost all of its footage came from an anime called "Golion," which is really what this video and its description should be referring to it as.

  • go and buy thee Voltron Black Lion box set. there is information on the subject. its a bonus feature on the last DVD on the Black Lion edition box set.

    its may come out some time in 2008. GO! GO! GOLION

  • Veru good to see the Japanese introduction to Voltron. I guess the music in the American intro. is either from a later season of Voltron, or is an American creation. But either way it waa good too.

  • Does anybody remember the Henshin Robo line of robot toys? I remember playing with a couple of them, one belonging to that Xabungle series, though since I haven't seen many of these shows I don't recall the names of the mecha.

    I'm noticing alot of little boys ride mechas but I dont see any little girls. I would like to see one with a little girl ridding a giant robot.

  • Does Magic Knight Rayearth count? For the most part, very young (under 17) female pilots don't have their own TV shows. Gunbsuter/Diebuster could count, I think.

  • GoLion is being released on dvd by Mediablasters.

    I hope they license more mech shows like Galvion and Spt Layzner. With the exception of Macross, the decent mech shows didn't arrive until around 83-84.

  • The main mecha robot in Dougram is none other than the Shadow Hawk from the old Battletech mech combat tabletop strategy game. Makes me wonder what other series they drew directly from other than Macross.

  • Battletech, used only designs from Macross and Dougram. Most likely because they were discovered and got sued and were forced to pay royalties to the two shows producers and license the designs they already took. FASA then later hired designers to make the rest of the Battlemechs for the later updates and such.

  • The LCT-1V Locust was based on one of the mechs from Crusher Joe, which I haven't seen yet. I also recall seeing an Orguss in one issue of BattleTechnology Magazine years ago. It was called "Falcon Hawk" instead.

  • Or rather, GoLion. But yeah, Voltron is the americanized name, not the classic Japanese name. The marquee even says, in katakana, "Go-Ra-I-O-N".

  • Not sure, probably the money. Or maybe the drama in the series. Getter Robo, Evangelion, Mazin series and so forth. But it be cool to play as Voltron in one of the games.

  • I have been waiting for a decade for Dairugger XV, God Mars and/or Voltron to appear in a SRW game. But none of them were chosen in any of them, so disappointing :( Maybe that's because they are not from the right animate maker and there is some copyright issue, i dunno

  • Godmars is available in SRWD. Not sure why Golion hasn't appeared other than general lack of popularity, but Dairugger and its fifteen pilots would have way too much seishen whoring to fit well in the game.
