Wow! Windows 7 has Device Stage where you can control all your multimedia and their content! Yeah, Apple had nothing like that ever before...wait, it's called iTunes!
Vista is not a failure, it just wasn't as Microsoft said "Finished" and I agree, Microsoft is trying to fix this in Windows 7 by manufacturing the product differently, normally they would just work on the features and parts of an OS all at once, and hope it turns out ok, but with Windows 7 Microsoft are allocating specific tasks to different groups of people and then making sure that what they have been given is 100% finished before giving them another feature or part of the OS to work on.
I agree, normally updates are minor with requirements, this was not the case on Windows Vista because it was a very large leap from the small simple OS to a much larger OS with many new computer intensive features, like aero and Windows Vista Sidebar.
Microsoft is doing the right thing by making a new OS, what do you think the sales would be if Microsoft announced another Vista, normal people would still hold off, Windows 7 is a new start for Microsoft to make a good impression. And Microsoft are also introducing a new manufacturing process, that is only things that are 100% done get put into the product, that is why the pre-release was better than a normal pre-release would be. Comment is continued...

sooo... instead of making a finished, working program/os, MS just makes another os.
Yea that makes a lot of sense... NOT.
Sorta reminds me of how our government works, expensive, wasteful and full of patches.
;)

Microsoft should just stick with Vista, fix it.
Stop making more OS!!!
If you miss a mac update, its not as big a deal.

Not. Every time Apple comes out with a new OS you need to get a new mac, ridiculous!
Microsoft is totally out of touch, building this BS for a 1st world consumption model that is coming to an end as I type this comment.

Continued... Microsoft would normally just make things all at once and hope things go well. Microsoft is doing a good job so far.

if Microsoft thinks that making more stuff is a "fresh start", then they have never heard of the Dreamcast.
