Use common sense, people. When you're stopped for a traffic violation, officer is not there to argue with you, debate the law, or present evidence. If you choose arguments or demands over cooperation, officer has no choice other than to arrest. While you're being arrested, officer is again not there to argue, debate, or present evidence. If you still don't cooperate, officer will use reasonable force to induce that. Woman in video was argumentative and uncooperative. Officer acted properly.
Not a cop and just going off the video. She chose to make demands (to see dashcam video, etc) and argue (her innocence, etc) instead of cooperating. The side of the road (especially in bad weather) is not the place for evidence or arguments. That's what the courts are for. Her ongoing lack of cooperation forced an arrest, but she refused to cooperate even with that (getting into vehicle, etc). Ultimately, she brought the entire outcome onto herself.

While I disagree wholeheartedly with the officer's decision to use escalated force in this instance, it's common knowledge (and often re-iterated when you get your DL) to stay in the car when stopped. You don't get out and challenge the cop, that's how cops get shot (people getting out and engaging). Then disobeying when the officer told her she was under arrest, not bright. The cop has tools and weapons, and if he's doing something wrong you know you can sue, but you have to SURVIVE first!

Use common sense, people. When you're stopped for a traffic violation, officer is not there to argue with you, debate the law, or present evidence. If you choose arguments or demands over cooperation, officer has no choice other than to arrest. While you're being arrested, officer is again not there to argue, debate, or present evidence. If you still don't cooperate, officer will use reasonable force to induce that. Woman in video was argumentative and uncooperative. Officer acted properly.

Not a cop and just going off the video. She chose to make demands (to see dashcam video, etc) and argue (her innocence, etc) instead of cooperating. The side of the road (especially in bad weather) is not the place for evidence or arguments. That's what the courts are for. Her ongoing lack of cooperation forced an arrest, but she refused to cooperate even with that (getting into vehicle, etc). Ultimately, she brought the entire outcome onto herself.

That's what the courts are for; save it for the court. Cops are jaded with the bad guys (in the streets) resisting and hassling them; the bad guys are usually trailer trash and don't get it... with authority issues; when we resist...we're unecessarily putting ourselves in that group. Why? Save it for court, and get an attorney if you feel so right and violated. I don't take any crap, but I'm not stupid either.

At 1:07 she confronts him, at this time he grabs for his taser.
Getting back in the car might imply some attempt at running, regardless of whether she is mother or not.
He handles the situation by using nonlethal force, by not using a physical attack or a gun.
At no point during the event did he put either of their lives in physical danger.
I honestly would not call this any less than standard protocol..

She should've listened . She was mouthing off, and out of line. But that he pulled her out of her car, and then tazed her -I'm sorry at that point it was just a battle of his ego vs hers. Cops will always win, they know it, and they act like it. This is why I have little respect for most of them. Most are condescending, smug and often disrespectful during routine traffic stops. I am always polite, but certainly not out of respect for them. I just don't want to get tazed.

She's a fool - You don't step out of the car unless the officer tells you to step out of the car. You don't argue with an officer when he says you're under arrest. You submit to the arrest and if you're in the right, you get the benefit of suing the county or state depending on the officers jurisdiction. Everything here was legit procedure.

She's at fault. Not only did she not obey the officer at all, but she was trying to resist arrest by getting back in her vehicle and by not getting on the ground.
Also, which do you think looks worse: a cop tackling a soccer mom to the pavement, or giving her a few harmless (it hurts, yes, but it DOES NO ACTUAL HARM) jolts with a taser?

While I disagree wholeheartedly with the officer's decision to use escalated force in this instance, it's common knowledge (and often re-iterated when you get your DL) to stay in the car when stopped. You don't get out and challenge the cop, that's how cops get shot (people getting out and engaging). Then disobeying when the officer told her she was under arrest, not bright. The cop has tools and weapons, and if he's doing something wrong you know you can sue, but you have to SURVIVE first!

The ticket thing you sign is NOT an admission of guilt. You will have an opportunity to contest the charge in court later. Never step out of the car (unless told to do so) or disobey the police. They are there for your protection, but do have to protect themselves too.

As an officer, anyone stepping out of a car is to be considered unsafe for both parties. When an officer tells you to get back in the car, it's for your safety. A car could run you over. It's for his safety. You may have a gun. Quit arguing your point and get in the car. I don't know his side of the story, and you don't either so don't judge him based on her narrative alone. This is a dangerous job. If you wish to see the video, go to court.

In this case, the women. Being taxed was naturally upset. She had a fleeting moment of lack of judgment by getting out. After the cop stood his ground. She complied. Could have ended there, but no. Poor cops feelings were hurt.

Everyone KNOWS when you get pulled over, DON'T get out of your car. It is considered aggressive and threatening. The officer doesn't know if you have a weapon or not. A simple ticket or possibly just a warning turned into you getting tazed. People please start thinking about your own actions. I've been pulled over many, many times and never got tazed or beaten. Arrested yes, but at the time I broke the law. It's all about behavior. Keep it good, stay safe.
