@Talawli Only until the Canon 1ds mk4 is released. besides her best work is done with medium and large format cameras.. eg: the pregnant demi moore shot.. ;-)
@V70ROB all her 35mm cameras prior to the 1Ds mk1 release were nikon........ look she started with a Pentax Spotmatic. then went to a Nikon F when she worked for rolling stone........ she's been a long time nikon user long before canon even came into professional consideration by photographers. nikon has been the choice since 1959, canon only recently became an option, not the first choice
its easy to be a great photographer when you have everyone doing stuff for you as ....checking f stop ...adjusting your camera ...doing everything for you and all you need is push the shutter ...but ...she started at the bottom ...and she knows what shes doing ...great vid ...i love it
@paullesoudeur It's easy to be a great photographer when you ARE a great photographer. The idea was hers, she's telling everyone exactly what to do, etc. The fact that she has assistants helping doesn't mean that's what makes her great. She's earned that privilege by already being great so that people want to work for her and help her. It simply makes the process go faster so she can focus on taking the photos and not keep her clients waiting around forever.
@sdflksdfkfh i had a feeling because i worked for a limo comp.from 1999 till 2009 and i used to talk to Annie alot in the earlier days. She used to call and reserve transportation for Susan to take her to the hospital for treament in maybe 2002-2003.Annie called herself never a assistant and she sounded so concerned and yet scared my heart went out to her.I used to speak to Susan as well.they were both very nice women.rip Susan.
The 8-a blows me away -- the sound between the click of the mirror and the recycle beep are virtually _simultaneous_. That's just...amazing. I'm not sure it's $10 - $11K worth of amazing, but it's about as close to a dream come true with flash packs as I've ever witnessed.
Yup its all you. It doesn't matter if you use a Canon 1Dm4 or a 5Dm2 or a Nikon D700 or a Nikon D3X.
Sonys aren't bad either. I think in a few years they will be competitive. Nikon CMOS are actually made by Sony. Obviously this is at the time being, I can't say this post will be current in a year or a few months.
You guys are ridiculous. "Oh looks she's using a D3. It's Nikon, I use Nikon D3 too. Makes me feel special." LOL.
This video is about the new Profoto Pro8 and Anne Leibovitz. So what if she used a Nikon D700? Would that make her photos less great? Ghay.
I don't care if she used an old Olympus, the pictures would have turned out great cuz they're light metered and lit correctly. Relying on brand name and camera technology is like saying u can only do design with a Mac.
You are right man, Ive seen people use D3's and take horrible pictures. I wish it would be that easy, buy a nikon and you instantly become a pro photographer.
i bet you shoot nikon... am i right? I'm happy to say that I've shot with just about everything. I've shot with a D700, a Hasselblad, and yes Canon, Sony as well.
Currently using Profoto, no real desire to switch brands there.
@xxmortimerxx yes i do shoot nikon. i'm not a real fanboy of one system over another though. happy to use whatever it takes to get the job done well.
i went mental and splashed out and bought the d3x a couple of months ago and have a d200 which i was going to sell but i decided to just hold on to it instead. i'm loving the d3x. a beautiful camera that takes beautiful images. have never tried leaf cameras...
D3x is awesome! You weren't mental in buying one, you could stick with that camera for 10 years. My current FF is the 5D Mark II, its not quite as good but its 1/3rd the price and it shoots HD Video.
A lot of people give this camera flack but its been nothing but awesome for me.
MF is definitely the way to go for pixel count and clarity though. Maybe I'll pick up a used Mamiya some day. I loved using Hasselblad but even used its still $20k for body only.
She started with Minolta in the 1970's and switched to Nikon when working for Rolling Stone Mag. Has used Hasselblad, Leica and Canon too. Don't think she cares. She's got engineers taking care of her equipment. Annie is al about the art.
does anyone know what video she was in where it showed she shot with a D40?

Correction I should say Nikon not D700 since I'm listing brands not specific models. Wouldn't want to get knocked for that.

Yea that's pretty much what I was getting at in my post. I'll shoot with whatever. At the moment I sold my Sony Alpha and I've got 2 canon bodies.
From time to time I go out for a shoot with my buddy and use his D700 which I love. I think the D700 is a better choice than the D3.
D700 is more than enough to take on most any job.
