As a christian and a social worker specializing in mental health I believe the question is the same as asking "Should I take my insulin or Should I take my heart medication"? It is the same thing... most christians would not think twice about taking antibiotics! So why so uptight about antidepressants?
Take it from a Christian, this is not a faith issue. I would look at all the research and I would look at both the negatives and the positives. I use to take antidepressants, but not anymore. I had all the negative affects, and the bad outweighed the good. For some antidepressants make depression worst and actually cause suicidal thinking, and they can be very hard to come off of as well.
@spkthtrth Ecclesiasticus 38:4 of the Aprocrypha says The Lord hath created medicines out of the earth; and he that is wise will not abhor them.
In these last days medicines seeek out to kill us. WE need to return to the natural remedies of old that were left off in the 17th century when plants and medicine departed into the scientific field. Brother research herbal remedies. For depression, St. Johns Wort is said to be the best remedy thus far but their are others. Our meds are the WEEDS.
I personally believe before we can say taking man-made drugs are wrong or to agree, as though it is ok, medication should be studied from the scripts. The book of Revelations 9:21 and18:23 "they repented not of their sorceries" in this case means drug use. " Sorceries" mean enchantment, magic, witch-craft and pharmakeia in greek means medication and pharmacy. Drugs..Prozac, cymbolta, paxil, aspirin and the like are crafted by witchcraft. Which by default makes taking antidepressant wrong.
