Depends on the Pentium .. 2.5 GHz+ should be fine, really its about your graphics card a lot, but a $60 card should play this fine on medium+ settings. But really if you cant play SC2 on low settings on your PC then you probably should think about upgrading :)

@SuperTomri The reason is, its a RTS or "Real time strategy". You have to be very smart to compete against other players EX: Do I want to attack this base or that one, or do I want my army to be a mix or only Infantry etc. You have to be very strategic to win. You can't just storm a base or something. Also most people that compete in those tournaments are really good at strategy and RTS style games, Its harder than it looks.

My buddy is into it and has recommended it to me; but I never played the first one. The closest thing I can compare this to (as far as games that I've actually played myself) is Age of Empires II. I would suggest to go torrent the original starcraft and get to know the races and their individual specialties.  The game is legionary and should be played by all, I hope my advice can help you out to make a decision to buy the game.
