  • Rep Ed Markey is a rare thing: a politician who understands and can articulate the facts of Climate Change.

  • California had an initiative to put a small tax on its offshore drilling that would be used for developing alternative energy, and the oil companies spent a huge amount of money defeating it. Good on them for trying, I hope they try again and win.

Check out theorionproject for a private iniative in the US.

  • $3 trillion dollars, the amount we've spent on Iraq so far, would have paid for stand-alone solar and/or wind energy systems and a plug-in electric vehicle for every family in America. This would have TOTALLY eliminated fuel and utility payments for each and every family in the US. Want to talk about freedom? THAT IS FREEDOM! Why isn't anyone in Congress talking about this issue from that angle?

  • Well said .. Germany has a solar program and it has stimulated the economy, provided jobs and is decreasing there reliance on Foreign Oil. Norway has produced and is exporting an affordable electric car.

Ford Motor company manufactured thousands of SUV F 150 pickups. That it can't sell. Melt it all down and start over.

  • Lol. I agree, but I also think that will make some CEOs really flipping mad. Hey, did you know, INDIA has been heavily subsidizing clean energy AND produced a car that not only is small, gets 60 mpg, it is only $2500 and still consider it an enviormental disaster! Damn, it looks like India is going to be cleaner than us! Still, I have hope. It is going to suck for us, but if places like Japan can make industrial era factories 80 percent clean, the world still have a chance.
