This guy did a great job with this obvious mechanical problem. In aviation terms he did a ground loop. He did this before the car had a chance to build up a lot of speed and get into an area with a lot of people. Fast thinking
Do all yourselves a favor and read the write-up above (if you can read). It's clearly explained that the throttle got in a bind, which caused the accident. DUH!!!!!!!

im not just saying this im being serious this accident unless something happened to the engine to quickly excel this lack of expierience i know no driver (well ive seen a few) but ive never seen this big of a screw up on a burnout backup
He didnt screw up the throttle hung and he did what he had to do to stop the car and not hurt anyone...being a racer myself I think he did a remarkable job...tore up the car a little but nobody got hurt....you dumbass
i think the sound at the end is another car starting up ,not the crashed one unless it is self starting as no starter was but on it .good reactions by the driver to attempt to avoid people/cars around start line and try to turn it up the strip, result caused the least amount of damage, well done.
one of the clutch discs hung up...there supposed to be slipping at the point they totally engaged. you can try to shove the clutch pedal in to no avail thats why he had to start it back up just to be towed
I saw something just like this happen in Redding, CA a couple years ago. It was a funny car making some test runs so he could get a liscense. After the burnout he backed up and kept gaining speed. he hit the rail by the tree, then ran backwards through the fence and hit the end of the stands. The chainlink wrapped in the wheels finally killed it. Luckily noone was hurt. I thought I'd never see anything like that again!
I agree Jimmylayers, very quick thinking to prevent a worse situation with a hung throttle in reverse

I saw something like that that back in the 70's at Atco in NJ... the car didn't fall over, but it did spin, and wipe out the tree...

Great job on doing what you had to do, cool head on that driver. Minimal damage I hope.

The engine note didn;t change as it suddenly gained speed, looks like maybe the clutch was grabbing and not disengaging properly.

Wow that is one of the more bizarre racing accidents I've seen! Very lucky it was not more serious.
