  • READ THE DESCRIPTION!!!!

  • WTF that easy? I remember playing this game when i was like 12. I was confused as F -.- Now i see that all i had to do was move a few levers? LOL

  • @damnlogin Yeah, but if you aren't given any spoilers, you would have to go to all the ages (as well as reading the books that tell you how to get there) and collect the pages so Sirrus or Achenar can tell you what to do. I think a true speedrun would have to include going through all the ages and collecting the pages :\

  • uh? thats all?

  • To think this was the pinnacle of games some twenty-odd years ago, and today flash games very similar to it litter NewGrounds by the hundreds.

  • This game is pretty paradoxical. Frustrates adults, intrigues children. Many bought it, few beat it or even came close. Great graphics for it's time, but it's just a souped up slideshow. Stumps people for weeks, months, even years, speed runs go under 2 minutes. A great gaming relic of the past, grab on Steam for pocket change.

  • A lot of the game was myst .

  • Its so funny how the built so many worlds, but you can beat the game in 2 min.

  • You know what, I spent hours on this game only to see you slaughter it in a way that way

  • recorded with tetris?

  • Omfg, i don't remebert this beeing thaty easy, also, i never tough that that was the end... :PReally stupid ending Imo...

  • so you completed the whole game in just over a minute and a half?

  • Slide-show.

  • So. Very. Boring....

  • Why is the actor at the desk so fucking shit? Is it because he did not read the description?

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, this is a pretty ghetto recording.

  • How supremely fucking boring. You can get a more cinematic experience out of fallout 3 these days....

  • i used to play this on my old g3 powerpc mac

  • nice slide show

  • Sounds to me that you are bitter that someone else did it faster, so you blame it on your slower processor. Prove that you can do it faster with a better processor.

  • I can't believe this game was released in 1993 (before I was even born). It looks like something from 1996.

  • wow that's the first video I've seen with more comments than ratings.

    Sorry for this spam.

  • we had this on our old mac. i never really understood it.

  • Your mouse sounds like a cricket :D:D

  • anyway to skip some quick time videos and get a much faster time?

  • It would be even faster if you delete your apple/quicktime player, cuz than the "movie" at 0:39 wouldn't be played.

  • @wildste be careful it has compatability issues. And yea I know I spelled that wrong. :P

  • You know, I think I will order this on Steam. It has been years since I've played the Myst series and it was freaking awesome

  • im currently on thr 3rd island almost the 4th

  • because of a faster computer processor ? ROFL

  • reminds me a demo of a game i always wanted to play... i think its called "amber" or somethin... any clue where to download it?

  • Update: It has recently come to my attention that someone named Samuel "Arkarian" Groves has broken my record with a time of 1:16, all because of a faster computer processor.

This game was played on a Power Mac G3

    anyone else see the problem?

  • @Timster480 Its that three letter word.

  • @TheAwesomeTyphoon CORRECT!

  • are u gonna make a part 2 cause how do we know what to do next

  • can i ask cause i almost got as far as this vid shows but i got stuck on the square puzzle and i spent weeks looking for clues but he code that it is how did u find it out, did u guess or what clue was there to this?

  • I played it as a kid I LOVED it. The puzzles were awesome to try to figure out - never finished it though :)

  • Ive seen flash games longer than this xD

  • I played this game as a kid. I never understood it and it bored the crap out of me... :p

  • When I was around 15 or so I played this game for months. When I finally beat it, I was so disappointed at the ending.

  • @nexus1g

But the wrong endings gave insight to human nature and deception.

  • could make a TAS auto-clicker and finish it in about 13 seconds on a supercomputer, plus scenes

  • Zzzzap.

  • Is this an example of second person gaming?

  • It took me 5 months to solve Myst with no help from anyone, years and years ago on an Apple computer.I think I was stuck in the swamp with the trees for about 2 of those months. Then I was so prud when I solved the fireplace, and then that lunatic slammed me in the book and my husband said "Is that it?After all this work?"

  • They should build Myst Island somewhere...

  • wow. its crazy to think a game like Myst, -one that enthralled so many gamers back then for so much time, could be beaten so quickly.

  • I wouldn't even call this a speed run. You are simply using the Exploit version of the game. An unintentional mistake by the Producers of this game.

Anyone can do the shit your doing there. It takes like 15 minuites of practice.

This Video blows. And you are kind of pathetic calling yourself a speedrunner after this poor example.

  • Oh My God. I'm so glad I NEVER bought this game... It would have been a waste of time to even download it for free if it was possible. LOL

  • @sfludd Myst is a great game. You are an idiot.

  • Oh wow you clicked everything really quickly. Good job.

  • whaat? you can really complete this game in one minute? what the fuckkkk?

  • @brooklynbees He has it memorized.....Obviously he has TOO much time on his hands.

But this IS impressive....So Kudos to the Poster

  • What programme are u using to record Myst with sound? Plz tell me :) greetz.

  • @Esgarot: Your answer is in the description.

  • wouldn't you beat the game faster if you didn't give him the page?

  • @Vegna24 That would lead to a bad ending, you get yelled at by Atrus and you're stuck for eternity in K'veer.

you cannot end a speedrun with a "Game over"! :)

  • Adventure games died becuz peeple are stoopid!!!!11 lolololololol

  • So all you do is hit a bunch of switches, pick up a piece of paper, and watch a video of some guy with laryngitis?

  • @FastbackJon It's SO Much more. He just blitzed it because he knew exactly what to do and what to input. The actual game has (I think) 5 Different worlds to explore and find clues explaining everything

  • this is so LOL XD how to skip all myst puzzles *-* doing this, you don't appreciate all the amazing world of myst, but i know you did this just for fun ^.^ and you were good! :D

  • since this is a pc game, why not use fraps?

  • @TheRoflRage: You missed reading the video description— Your answers are there.

  • @Guptill89 ooops. sry mate. no but really. I hate when people do that at my videos.

  • @Guptill89 can i have audio of this please?

  • ... na, das Spiel hast Du nicht verstanden!

  • No zip mode ? =)

  • @snipedog: It IS on. You forgot to read the video description.

  • @Guptill89 D'oh ! you're right .

  • Ah, Myst, the over-glorified HyperCard stack! :) All kidding aside, this game ruled. :)

  • I never understood the fascination od MYST and I am a huge Adventurefan.

  • I had this game too when i was young but i didnt get it at all there were no hints or i couldnt find em... I'm gonna sue those programmers for the hours I spend on that (and for these seconds im commenting)

  • @MasterMike44 There were plenty of hints, but you had to find them (most of them came from books in library). Some of them were pretty arbitrary though--all of the hints from the tower were just puzzle solutions, usually numbers or a code you had to put in. Riven, the second game did a MUCH better job--every puzzle and hint is seamlessly integrated into the world, and very few of the puzzles are arbitrary number/code solutions. You really felt like you were there.

  • @Telinome I played a lot of point and click adventures (and hope they would make more of those) but thank you for your comment I'll try Riven one day

  • I played again this christmas, after about 30 years! Took me about 3 evenings to go through. Couldn't remember the details of everything so was quite good fun. There is much much more to the game than this video shows. Now I'm currently playing Myst IV Revelation. Just awesome worlds, music and sounds, and infuriating puzzles. The imagination of these guys who develop it. Exactly my kind of games, and just why I love them so much. Not mindless shooting, or levels, or other pathetic crap. Brill.

  • I never knew how to play this lol

  • What a wonderful insult to this game! So many hours pulling my hair out! AHAHAHA!!! Taka that, you evil puzzle game!

  • i remember spending hours on end when i was 6-10 playing this game with my dad! quite possibly the best memories! I adore this game! So much fun!

  • good job just skipping to the last puzzle

  • seriously? that was it? I remember clicking away at this when I was like 6 years old and couldn't understand a fuck of it, imagining what kind of world I was going to explore with that zeppelin.. and THIS IS IT? SERIOUSLY? :P

  • Good memories. I love this game.

  • seriously whoever invented myst is a total asshole. fuck this game. i hate you myst.

  • This game makes me wanna kill myself, the utter boredom.

  • lol yeah i remember well, the page, do you have the page? and the son : you're wasting my time and yours lool

  • loooool speedrun and not using zip mode? could have saved you seconds, you know shortcuts to places you already have visited with a lightning shaped cursor

  • Respond to this video... This game looks pretty boring... Colorful but I thought it would be more immersive for a first person title.

  • Wow.. It took me 3 months to complete Myst and an entire Year to complete Riven

  • This game looks so amazing, who knew clicking was so fun!

  • this game was always confusing as fuck

  • *click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click**click*v

  • @zerowasp back in '93 there'd be a *Whirr whirr whirr whirr whirr whirr whirr* between each of those clicks

  • dude i'm stoked i found this again!!!!

  • haarsh is the world of myst

  • I remember trying to play this game as a kid and all there was to it was turning a few few levers and punching in a code in the elevator? jeeze

  • Oh man... I spent so much time with this game and saw every ending. The endings where you freed the brothers were actually more entertaining than the "good" ending shown here. After I beat it, it wasn't as much fun because I could do this every time.

Great game though and great video!!

  • when you play real myst theres an extended ending and an extra puzzle. its pretty fun. I was excited when I slowly was solving all the puzzles to the game one after another

  • Crysis looks better :p

  • @XpaXorZ Crysis Is stupid, myst is better

  • @AlienX99999 Just because his smiley was one of a person sticking his tongue out does not mean that his statement could not have been tongue-in-cheek.

  • I love myst1 (and 4 since they where the to games I completed)... Never owned 23 and 5 :(

  • I always found it funny that this game took me months to figure out on my own, but could be beaten in less than 2 minutes once you had beaten it the first time.

  • wtf i remember myst being the hardest crap ever or was it that myst 2 i cant remember but it took forever

  • @halopwner179 It was probably Riven that drove you up the wall. I still think it's one of the most difficult games ever... spending hours walking around without any progress can get frustrating.

  • @259 oh yeah riven aaaaaaawwwwwwwwwww

  • @259 ...but i still think riven is the funnest

  • @Technoman155 Never played Riven... Or Myst 3 for that matter.

  • This was an awesome game. I love and miss the Myst series...

  • looool you made me sad now, it took me like 2 months for me and my dad to beat this game! This game is actually really awesome! brings back memories!

  • @ostabilast me too

  • wow how do remember that combination in the elvator

  • This looks like it would be more annoying than entertaining

  • Psh, this is nothing. I can take way longer and probably never finish it.

  • tgs sent me?

  • wait, those were the only puzzles in the game? for real? XD

  • Heh, I remember trying to figure out all the puzzles. There was one puzzle, I believe it was a piano, that I could never figure out, and I never finished the game. I don't think any of my computers will install it. They're too new, so....thank you for the video.

  • @DeadManWalking89 buy it for PS1, its cheap and no one buys it

  • I haven't completed (or ever played) the game and I watched this so hard.

  • how many times you finished the game ?0_o

  • On speeddemosarchive the run is much better.

  • realmyst is so much better

  • Wow. nice to see this place shiny, and sunny again. Spoilers: if you mess up on Myst 5: end of ages, you are banished here and it is very rainy and there is no hope of escape. basicaly you walk around and thats is it.

  • pshhh, thats what i did in my first play through......i totally didnt wander around wondering what the fuck to do messing with power lines or somethings. Thats for chumps

  • That was amazing.

  • Why can't my friends be more like this guy? The hours I wasted wondering around games like this seem endless and he did it in 2 fucking mins!!!

  • What was the point of doing... whatever you just did then the books are gone?

  • where can i download this and play it?

  • @kageninja3 you must buy the game on ebay, its not downloadable.

  • @kageninja3 I got it from gog . com for 2.99$(promo) but it costs 5.99 now.

  • 2:38 - At this point i felt that he ditched me in this book since he took forever to come back and thought I should have listened.

  • this was one of the worse games i ever played, then again i played it as a kid so i have no idea wtf was going on

  • @MannyKunV lol me too, i remember when i was young I was just wandering arround for a hour. clicking on random stuff. than i quited because i didnt got a clue wut was going on hehe

  • What time does it have to be

  • How many times did you play this game? :/

  • I use to this way back in 1994 just not as fast. I just thought it was cool that I found out how to beat the game so fast.

  • 50 dollars well spent. About 0.48 cents for every second of gameplay.

  • @pizza87760

I see you did the math ;-D Great comment ^.^

  • i remember this game... i got it with my first PC

  • realMYST is totally awesome! I wish i could play more on my WINDOWS XP But RiVen is not compatible with my system. Somehow I pictured this game to be one of the best non-violent game/puzzle/mystery. But I have a question. Does your version also screw you in the end if you help the either the two brothers? Mine keeps closing the game whenever I get the last Red or Blue Page....So how many endings does it have or there is only 2 Endings?

The Ending where you are now stuck with him and the Good 1.

  • THAT is the whole game??? How long does it usually take to complete? Ten minutes??

  • @indendunklenschatten Actually, it can last ten/fifteen hours depending on how you play it. He has played this game already, so he doesn't need to go through the various Eras in order to find what he has to do to complete the game. What he is doing are the very last actions you need to do, the rest of the game is about finding out what these actions are.

  • @Kuroryu00Setnara

Oh, I see - thanks for letting me know that ^.^

  • Myst brings back lots of memories. I think it still looks OK, although the puzzles are a bit easy by today's standards. For games in a similar vein, try Darkfall: The Journal, Darkfall: Lights Out and Barrow Hill. All really good games which owe a lot to Myst.

  • HARSH IS THE WORLD OF MYST.

  • looks like a terrible game

  • @skateman22 are you kidding? it's one of the best games of it's generathion! sure the graphics are shit on myst, but the graphics are even worse on every over game from 1995! im guesing you don't appreciate myst because you don't get to kill anything, but back in thouse days ai was simple, so we didn't have players or bots running around to shoot at or even a fully 3d enviroment. after seeing what games like MW2 and CS do to people, maybe things were better that way.

  • @Chayraz2 to used to the games around me, to me it looks just boring. I also don't get the concept...

  • @skateman22 It looks like one...but this game was epic!

    ( and still is)

  • @skateman22 It only looks like a terrible game because most people these days think of games more like Halo, GTA, MW, ect... Myst was/is/will always be an incredible game series, as there are five of them.

  • @DeathsHood All of those games require very little thinking, too. Its sad that people judge something on a first glance, This game is far deeper than the graphics are.

  • @101Volts Which really says something about the game, because Myst I came out in what... 95? I think? And for that generation of game, the graphics are really good.

Although this guy cheated, when he said speed-run, I thought he was talking about doing each age, but no... Selenitic alone would take more than 1:45. Although I must give Kudos for him doing the pattern in the fireplace so fast, I hated that part.

  • @DeathsHood not rly, this game sucked ballssssssss

  • @RebirthWoWGuild probably because you didn't know how to beat it.

  • @RebirthWoWGuild That's only because you couldn't appreciate it. I have a love for puzzles, Myst pulled off the puzzles phenomenally.

  • Dude , use FRAPS. or Camstudio...

  • This game is mostly clicking around in rendered scenes, right?

  • @iHateToRegister Sums it up pretty good yeah.

  • I never played Myst, but it looked like a joke to me when I was a child. Looked a like picture game, but I remember also hearing people say it was a great game, which really boggled my mind... Can't see why people like this.

  • This game traumatized me. I'm not kidding.

  • I hope that once people invent virtual reality so that its like uber real they remake this game so that you can actually walk through these worlds and play this game. And I hope this happens before I die XD which it probably wont but yeah this would be the coolest game ever to play in real life. considering you cant die. and if getting stuck in a book wasnt an option

  • i used to watch my dad play this and i couldnt figure out what to do when i was a kid playing this. oh the memories

  • @DecimatorKillz haha dude same here ;D I remember my dad playing this and a didn't know how to play it lol

  • @IgorPcar so damn complicated. just how i remember it lol

  • im confused. wasnt the game a lot bigger than this?

  • Oh my god. That game. I was always watching my dad playing it. It was so... curious o-o

  • Bring me the blue pa..... The blu... The blue pages. Haaaa... Haaaaa Kckkkckkfff the blue pages... Lol. Seriously Myst was a part of my life. I love it. I have all the myst games including uru and uru's add-on (path of the shell).

  • Seems like you could beat this a lot faster if you didn't care about making Atrus happy at the end. =)

  • maaaan, my last go at myst, i was 1 blue page and 2 red pages away. ide figured out how to get in and out of all the ages there, but damnit some of those pages are HARD to find

  • WTF!

this game was soooooo impossible for me!!!!!!!!!

this ruined my whole childhood and all i had to do was that.

    .

lol jk, i only played it for a day and then never played it again :P

  • Check out my keyboard rendition of Myst!

  • I'm almost 13 and the quietness still scares me

  • Yeah, it takes me back when you had to deal with the two brothers. My favorite was the blue one. I didn't like the red one so much. He really had serious issues.

  • @Agent1W Wow....really?....the red one(sirius) had issue? Ok..he's greedy, very ambitious, a liar, and an overall Ass......sounds like half the people I know....

The blue one(Achenar) on the other hand liked to use gruesome torture devises and sounds like he belongs in a mental institute. I think the choice is obvious which one was more messed up.

  • @Johnrl21 I forgot the alignment of Law and Chaos. You can easily outsmart Achenar but Sirius would be more cunning. I suppose I made my judgment on whom I can have my back turned on...definitely NOT Sirius.

  • so... you didn't have to go through all the worlds. i was a kid when i played this, so i went through all the worlds and collected both red and blue pages to see what the brothers had to say. and before giving them each their pages, i saved so that i could see all three endings. i had no idea that the other worlds were completely unnecessary!

  • It took me a little longer than you.....

  • lord think your clickin the mouse fast enough lol

  • wow,it took me longer than this to open the first door in Myst IV (NOTE:I never played a Myst game before IV:Revelations) Nice work BTW
