@fencingperson you are correct, visor masks are now banned in international foil tournaments after one was punctured at junior world championships last year. but the olympics occurred before that particular incident occurred

Wow. The first point by Ota was pretty sharp. He broke the distance and he didn't even need to counter time. I was wondering why Souza didn't hit him in preparation, but Ota is simply too precise! Spectacular timing!

unfortunately that is not likely to happen for quite some time. epee is wired differently than sabre and foil: in these two the circuit is incomplete so hitting target completes the circuit or when you compress the tip in foil and you are not hitting target it indicates that the tip is compressed but the circuit is still incomplete. in epee the circuit is complete already so when you compress the tip the circuit breaks which causes the light. b/c of this the strip must be connected with wires

@CyrusofChaos Wasn't it... The other way around? In Epee the circuit is open and when you touche the circuit is closed and in foil and saber the circuit is closed and scoring a touche opens the circuit, and if it is a touche the circuit is closed through the lame. I think.... All I know for sure is that epee has an open circuit. Foil and saber have a closed circuit.
