Wow, excellent work. You used eagle to do the schematic, I fugure? How do you get your time signal? I am going for a 1 Hz signal generator which is hooked up to a set of 4017 counters. I'd love to get some input from you on this.
They last a very long time. The problem is that they sputter metal over time, and this can lead to blackening of the tubes. If you keep the voltage down a bit, they last longer. My tubes also plug in, so I rotate them periodically, so they all get used equally.
Oh, it's indeed an "old school" design, but that was a big part of the fun. I plan on making a PIC microprocessor controlled version at some point (maybe next winter)
Is that all TTL?

did you use eagle to draw the board???
By seeing your sheet, it looks like eagle...

Nice job impressive looking circuit. What anode current you using there?

How long do the tubes actually last before they burn out?

How did you get the plugs?
trig1dentity 2 years ago
The plugs are readily available in circuit board form. I don't remember exactly who I got them from, but it was on eBay.

Cool clock! I like the music it generates too!

Thanks... It would be nicer if I got around to building a case for it. Maybe this winter. It keeps perfect time.

Great job, wish I had your wiring diagram and parts list. Peace and Goodwill, Br. Joseph

This device is to nixie clocks what EDVAC was to computers. Thats a whole LOT of hardware... But cool.
