Ok so this is coming from a HUGE Spring Awakening fan and just the way they sing "Mama" kinda bugs me. And I know different people sing it differently but when I sang it for a audition, I worked with a voice coach before auditions and I showed her this video and she told me to NEVER to say mama like that while singing this song....

I checked out some of Lea's performances of this song, and i hated one thing about them - although she has an angelic voice, she doesn't put enough emotions into it. she just stands and sings, and i get bored after a minute of listening to it. and i could watch what annie does in this little piece all the time. you see how she acts, how emotional she is about that song, it actually moves my heart. and she has very interesting, beautiful voice too

The whole point of Spring Awakening is the fact that the kids have no way to truly release their emotions because nobody's taught them what their emotions mean. While they may be expressing them to an extent, they still have no idea what's going on and therefore can't express them fully.

Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik pretty much tailored the role to Lea Michele when she was cast, and she performed as Wendla for eight years. Next to Lea, this girl is a joke.

The songs are their inner thoughts, totally separate from the show itself. There's something beautiful about a simply delivered performance, and that's part of what this show is about.

Spring Awakening is a musical that is VERY inappropriate for high school, however awesome it may be. I love 90210 and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Spring Awakening, but isn't it a little unrealistic for a high school to be doing Spring Awakening? They'd have to fade to black during "I Believe", they'd probably have to find a substitute word for "Totally Fucked"(and if anyone has seen "Totally Stuck" they know this is disaster XD), they'd have to completely cut Hanschen's Desdemona monologue, there's a masturbation game during the reformatory scene, etc. It just wouldn't be the same with all the censorship.
