Thanks for sharing this! Wish the whole piece was here. Wonderful to see the late, great John Glascock and the wonderful John Evan and Barriemore Barlow. My favorite Tull lineup. John Evan had such a wonderful stage presence -- a cross between Puck and Harpo Marx ... delightful.
I have loved all the Tull keyboard players since John Evan and think they all do the musical part of the job at least as well, (though I generally ain't keen on sequencers and other modern affections)but please lets not act like bits such as Ian tossing his hat to Evans at the end is replacable, its not, I love that shit.
I synced it with a higher quality recording. This footage actually had sound to it but it's just a little bit out of sync. Much lower quality but still cool. I recently re-captured this film and fixed the picture a bit. It looks better now.
thanks for the devotion to the old material guys. i guess ian's sort of left it behind but we remember how remarkable the band truly was then -- thanks for the effort
Wow, doesn't that bring back loads of vivid memories? It sure does! I was fortunate enough to see Tull in concert twice during the "Heavy Horses" tour. What a wonderful excerpt, thanks so much for sharing it.
I would definitely make a substantial bid on it. But I have some questions to ask first. I think the film canister is only 7-inches in diameter if I remember. That could mean that the film is only about 8 minutes long, meaning it may just be the song Minstrel in the Gallery again. However, if the film is longer... say 20 or more minutes... then it would be worth bidding on. I need to know how long that film is. See if you can find out.
Ah Yes 1978 .... Great Find TT And Thanks.

John Glascock R.I.P. A truly great bassist, taken far too young.

Glascock is in this footage, so was this before or after his surgery in '78?

This was before, during the european tour. When Tull came to the states it was with Tony Williams.

It's in a London auction house in a film canaster labled "Chrysalis" "Minstrel". Now obtaining that looks like it will be harder to do but

Is it up for auction at that London house now?

If I win the bid. I'd let you do all the production on it... whatever is needed to make it presentable. It would be a TullTapes production.

wow, barry is really shining here! Check out that speed. He is the best drummer there ever was in my ears.
