Im looking for the song that the prostitute Titine was singing to her..and when did she sing the song 'Hymn to love'? I love that song so much it almost makes me cry...=]
She first sang this song at the caberet Versailles in New York on September 14, 1949. It was written to her lover and love of her life, the French boxer Marcel Cerdan. One month later Cerdan was killed in a plane crash on his way from Paris to New York to come see her. She recorded the song on 2 May 1950.
The lyrics of Hymne à l'amour were written by Piaf and the music by Marguerite Monnot.
Titine (played by Emmanuelle Seigner) was singing Il m'a Vue Nue (English: He saw me nude). French actress and singer Mistinguett recorded it first in 1926.
i've always had trouble learning french but when i saw this movie, i fell in love with edith, and my french is actually getting better --because i love to sing piaf's songs!
yeah, her songs helped me learn A LOT of french, like colloquial words too which is very important, i love her and Marion deserved that oscar, she WAS Edith.
love this scene so much! thank you for posting!

Good lord, they really know how to compose emotional music back then. Nothing now has the kind of emotion that Heaven Have Mercy has.
