Johnny whilst watching this video I was alerted to a few points that raised a few concerns.
Whilst you may well be the 'hopeless optimist', you also distinctly failed to succesfully 'manage' our college sixth form. The problems you preach that are your top prioitys are nothing more than what's included on the third page of the metro everyday...At no point have you presented any original points.I sincerely hope, and for the good of British Politics that you end this 'political rampage' now
Labour sucks! As for Iran? We seem to have the same problem. Were both been governed by unelected dictators. Respect to the Iran at least there protesting. We want an election!
That was a really good entry Johnny. You really know what your talking about. I think it would be great if you were on question time because you can concisely put forward your ideas with empathy, intellect and understanding. Good luck!
Johnny has been the best candidate I have seen out of all the videos submitted. I think he will represent the views of young people really well. He seems like he knows what he is on about. Good luck!
Thanks for the pm Johnny...Yeah, I like your message and sorry to hear about your friend.
It's a good trait to stick to your values something most politicians have trouble with if they ever had any values. The government are totally corrupt and are not serving the peoples agenda. To get an idea of who they are serving you may want to check out David Icke, I would recommend his Brixton talk although it's quite long. A lot of the bad things we see transpiring now are so by design. Peace
Your right! You could also say that all those anti social people out there are also anti poitics, wasted votes. Politicians have alienated the youth of this country. There's also becoming a broken social scene. As for human rights time and time again it benefits the offender not the victim
In the last 11 years New Labour have imposed 178 new taxes, got the children saddled with huge debts when they leave university before they've got their first job, the banks again benefit here, and raided our pension funds whilst improving theirs by 33% and being told it was prudent!
I'm batting for the truth and the people take your assumptions else where and get on with some fact.
I've spent a year arranging meetings and forcing Dr. Lynn Jones our New Labour MP to answer some very searching questions in front of invited audiences.
Jonnyeth, I know what you mean. It sucks when people stereotype you as antisocial and don't sit next to you on the bus, give you dirty looks if you squint or get closer to the machines to hide their PIN when all you want to do is use the cash point. It's really offencive when all people under 30 are stereotyped just cos the minority of idiots can't behave rationally
Deffnately. It's so bad, people have chosen to stand rather than sit next to me on the bus =[ Young people are getting too negative a view. You're terrific my friend :)
I agree to a degree but it's reasonably generic political jibba jabba these days. Most of what he said was the opinion held by pretty much anyone that isnt Labour.
your body language coupled with your vocal patterns are over the top. it looks like your giving the impression of someone who is too confident to be trusted.
What is being more open minded to the young generation going to do? Clearly measures will never succeed in changing young culture...the fact is politics is something which young people take little care in- so politics should take little care for them.
Just because young people take little care in politics, you thinks politics should take little care in them....tell that to the parents of children in education, tell that to the parents of children in NHS hospitals. You got any kids yourself? I thought not!
dude hes saying it should be the other way round i think. that politicians should think more about how actions today influence young peoples more than their own.
Politicians actions are consistently based on future generations...just look at the issue of sustainability...whether they want it or not voter pressure means they do, irrelevant to the motive. What don't they do for us?
Sadly your arguement fails on the fact i am a teenage- im at "the forefront" of british culture...no i dont have kids although those masses of teenagers that do certainly do not deserve the support of the NHS/education system/benefits/political representation particularly as the cause more problem to the political landscape of britain today
You know exactly what we, the younger generation, want. I hate being grouped together with all the louts that hang out on street corners wielding knives and other weapons. It seems that we need to make some big changes and bring in people who are willing to take us into account. I would very much like to see you win this competition. Good luck to you sir!
You seem to know what your talking about but you use too many hand guestures if you reduce that you have a better chance. I know that hand guestures are a key in communication but that is a bit too much. (Studing A levl Business communications)
As a young person seeming to want to enter the relms of politics & issues, at the worst time in history in politics, I'd suggest you save or, at least ration your time, in this area. You'll look back and probably see you made no difference. A tiny cog in the workings of a gigantic controled & manipulated old time-piece.
Your pitch for the BBC (British Brainwashing Corporation) is very good and I wish you get what you desire.
I'm glad you sent me this actually because after the first 12 or so I pretty much lost the will to live. The majority were more like CVs than showing that they had issues which were important to them.
And I also completely share your anti-BNP sentiments. Do you know that the man who won a seat in Yorks&Humber used to bea *very* active member of the National Front? >:(
I think this is a good video, you know what your talking about without boring people with a long unessecary speech. I am entering too, however I am having trouble fliping my video because I am facing the wrong way, any ideas??
Hi - pretty good video, certainly one of the better ones. Getting young people, as well as the wider public, involved in politics seems to be the thrust of what you are saying? I'm just wondering how you think progess on this issue can be made?
i think debt is necessary in this case to stimulate the economy. I also think that our debt is and will end up as lower than many industrialised country and that the value of debt generally erodes with time. but save it for the show (though i cant back you as i have a friend also in the competition)
i certainly agree with you, debt is necessary in an economy such as ours. however, the point i made is that the people should of been consulted and a case made as to why we needed to perform a stimulus.
this leads to a bigger question as to why we keep around 90% of the youth uneducated in basic economics and politics....
we wouldn't be having the problems we face today. Having an uniformed electorate casting their vote driven by emotion...
boberz1 - it would't let me reply to you so iv had to put it here.
the best thing to do is to come out of the recession with our eggs in different baskets.
a concern I have is with every country worried about their own balance sheet and IMF credit rating, all making the same investments into the same new industries. The a skills market that hasnt developed quickly enough. So we may start to see a new form protectionism rear its ugly face.
very hard to answer in 400 characters.. put simply, cannot generalize on every export. the car industry for example, obviously consumption based recovery.
we have deflated our currency and assets a great deal compared to mainland europe, put broadly short term its probs best to go for an internal consumption lead recovery.
however this is a small issue a much wider one off balancing and spending or to look an economic model for stable growth.
Good answer in few words, broadly I agree, but we must be clear that exports cannot be exclusive to a few things we hold natural monopolies over e.g. Whisky
Our currency had to devalue anyway, and large currencies always over equilibrate so it was no suprise to see the run on the pound.
Stable growth again something everyone thinks they have achieved until everything goes tits up. We need to come out of this recession attempting to abolish boom and bust but recognising we probably won't.
But do you think we are giving more of our constitutional power to Europe?
All it does is rearrange the current powers in the EU giving more to the democratic bodies and less to Brussels as a commision.
The last referendum was not on a free trade area, in fact we left a free trade area to join the EEC (a decision upheld by the referendum). It is no longer a constitution it is just a treaty, yes the content is the same but it is the process rather than the content that requires a referendum.
you deliver this well, putting across your passion for the subject hand at matter without seeming force full in your opinions. you certainly know your subject far better than i do.
I've watched all the candidates entries and you are definitely the best. From reading your answers, you seem to know a lot about politics and you sound like you care about the issues. Good luck.
It's good, certainly. You clearly have a good, natural persona which I think would fit the programme well. I think you are perhaps slightly vague about your ideals, discussing more the general state of young people in Britain today more than specific solutions and your opinions et al to these, but of course that is merely me attempting to find anything to be critical about. It's a solid video to my eyes, and I would like to hear more about your opinions on other matters.
hey frailea. i made the video for people that don't really follow politics as much as you and i. Going into issues in 60 seconds & keeping it as broad and open as possible is rather hard! what subjects would you like to know my opinion on?
Let's not bother going into the expenses rot, I think every sensible person's opinion has been established on that. I'd be quite interested to know more about these pragmatic values you speak of, and to what extent these might perhaps set you apart from the popular trend of opinion. Would you, for example, be prepared to partially sacrifice pragmatism for a bit of practicality?
I was hoping to get some questions on current affairs!
but I will answer. Im no sociologist nor do i consider myself to be a massive intellectual.
I value every idea and opinion, that is to say, not the context of that idea but the principle of consideration. To make a decision using practicality would suggest that the decision could be predetermined thus canceling out the pragmatism.
Parliament should be able to legislate on certain issues & hold the executive to account.
The commission shouldnt be called the commission & consist of representatives elected directly by the people and should be partisan, giving the people more say over the direction of Europe.
The Council of Europe should still represent the interest of member states.
you can give to much sovereignty away. like these silly little rules we have because it effects some far fetched domestic issue out in eastern Europe.
Europe has done some great things though like court off human rights & social charter. However I wish elected representatives did it instead of bureaucrats.
I will vote for whoever is closest on these issues.
The only thing separating us from Europe is 26 letters, water & a bit of salt.
I agree. You seem so completely secure about what you're saying and you give a sense that you're really enthusiastic about these sort of issues. I think it's safe to say you deserve a place on the panel!
You certainly sound passionate about what you'd like to acheive, young people need more role models like yourself in order for them to be able to express themselves fully, they need someone who can potentially understand what they are going through and most importantly someone who they can trust. I believe that the people of UK and fans of question time should support you for your qualities such as you strong personality
