Phil Napoleon's band was one of Jackie Gleason's favorites. He hired Phil and the guys to be in his orchestra for the Honeymooners TV show. This recording was re-released on a 10" LP with about 9 other numbers in the mid 50's with a cartoon on the jacket by Arnold Roth of Mad Magazine fame.
@emwright100 Oh wow, that's very cool to know. I also collect 10" Lp's, so I will certainly be looking for that one. Do you recall the name of the album, and was it released under Napoleon or Gleason's name?
There's nothing quite like that Dixieland sound... this is so much fun. Betty Ann Grove? Never heard of her, but she's FINE!! There are just no singers like this any more. Know what I mean. I often search vids (here) of the 40s just to hear this kind of singer. And when I'm offline I play my 78s LOL Great upload Lloyd.
@75capriceconvertible Yes indeed. It's a shame there aren't more singers like this anymore. I know there's still some, but finding them is the hard part. We're all supposed to be listening to Gaga, Bieber, and Fergie. ha ha
@althazarr not on your life! hahaha! I listen to what I like... it's got to really move me, know what I mean. Most of the crap today I can't be bothered with. Do you know the song Lulu did, The Boat That I Row? The line "I don't dig what's in, so I guess I'm out". That pretty much describes me, LOL
@VictrolaJazz Lol. I just don't think he had it in him. I didn't notice it before, but you're right. It does sort of bob in time with the music. ha ha

Imagine if he'd attacked! The very slight warpage makes the tone arm bob in time to the music! I think being a tone arm would be fun!
