  • I'm a male and love it so women should too. It's 2012, and I think the commercials have gotten worst than ever before!

  • Comment removed

  • EVERY FEMALE SHOULD WATCH THIS..POWERFUL MESSAGE...AND SOME GIRLS FIGHT TO GET INTO MODELING WHEN THEY DON'T GIVE A DAMM ABOUT THEM,YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT THEY SAY AND IF NOT,UR DONE,SMH,WE ALL MEN/WOMAN NEED 2 WAKE UP

  • Everybody should watch this. And they should watch this at the age of 12.

  • Wow when i clicked on this I didn't know it was gonna be about 25 min long.... I still watched the entire thing. She's right I'm a 14 year old girl concerned about my weight, I know I shouldn't be but girls will always NEED/WANT to be WANTED.... Unfortunately :(

  • And she says men are not afraid to be beaten... But forget to tell you that's because it's not allowed to be scared as a man. But it's more likely to be beaten as a man.. from both genders.

They didn't mention the way ads works which is communication with our deeper urges. The thrive for fitting our environment to have comfort and reproduce. That we have senses that gives attention to stuff that seem to be a potential want towards these goals.

  • In this video they say to stop thinking the ads really describes the real world, and then believes the message, which is reversed, that men don't care about their looks, but women do. She didn't mention anabolic steroids once, yet it's very common that men in ads take it, for their looks and to be more their gender.

And what's up with laughing at a man's unsatisfied equipment and not women's? 10:20 11:38 She have missed a lot of ads on the internet then.

  • @gr0gg0 and when have you seen an OPEN advertisement about steroids??

this is afteral about advertisements that attack our self worth.

  • what an ignorant and slanted argument, to all the feminists here take a step back and listen to the absolute nonsense that comes out of your mouths. Then ask yourselves why does sexism still exist

  • After reading the comments on this video I have to wonder just how many watched it all the way through. I did and the only thing I saw this women do was point out what kind of ads some advertisers have used. She wasn't attacking anyONE she was targeting certain advertising!! Some seemed to take it personal. Why? She clearly states more than once that she doesn't want to see it happen to men either. So what if it's mostly based on her opinion. She has a right to it.

  • Hypodermic-needle theory, feminist garbage. Valid points were made, but too much over-exaggerated sensationalism was used.

  • @crimsonsamurai14 Wow, I thought she was exaggerating about how men would view this. Your comment just convinced me that everything she said is true.

  • @jujubeeh67 Right; because I disagree with some of her points it's clearly due to my gender. It's nice to see that feminists have a "clear" understanding of gender roles. The irony here is that I have more confidence that women can critically access these ads and understand the blatant lies. Whereas you and Killbourne are convinced that women are stupid and completely internalize all stimuli. You do the modern women's intellect poorly.

  • @crimsonsamurai14 Some women are able to absolutely look through these adds. But now a days not only women but teenagers in general are bombarded with shows, movies, advertisements that subconsciously leads them to another kind of thought and lowers the chances of them having any kind of critical thinking skills to be able to look through those advertisements. why do you think they are successful (the advertisements) women are not stupid(well some are) they are just brainwashed just like men.

  • @lalisloca and I acknowledge your points. The one thing that you should consider, however, is that it is a two-step process. Being that, it isn't necessarily the advertisment itself, but rather peers that are more influential in tramsmitting meaning.

  • @crimsonsamurai14 That's how I felt, too.

  • Even paganisim in he 90's was more into sexuality or women to be promiscuous: Polyamory, swinging, abandoning their loves and husbands, sometimes their children too, abandoning their men when trauma hits the home via the men (such as in my case loosing both legs) suffer and find themselves loosing more than limbs when they thought the woman could keep her oath of love!! Don't blame men for what women do to us too!!

  • I haven't seen any of these ads.

  • The Jews are responsible for this.

  • lol bitches

  • @MrLemoman i love you, no homo

  • @MrLemoman

lol, so immature. Still think your in kindergarten where girls had the cooties.

  • Wow. This reminds me of all my classes where we had to use a single data set to prove and disprove something using statistics and that data set. what she says has a toe in reality, the rest is simple fancy tap dancing to get us emotionally involved. Nice argumentative dictation, but your as one sided as Hitler was when he convinced a nation to follow a single ideal. Good choice in images that support your thesis. I agree with your overall message, You just spread it on a little thick.

  • @charlope She's right though, and she has to get people emotionally involved cause that's the only way people are going to care, and that's what she's after. Sure, she went way off sometimes and said "this means that, and that means this" and so on, while it may only have been a coincidence that wasn't intended to be, nor really is sexist at all, but still.

  • @charlope Cut and paste much?

  • @MrMastison Actually she is just telling how things were on a older context. My only real problem with this is that she seems to put too much emphasis on advertising when said objectification came from family memes. They still exist even today, albeit not in such uniformity as it were twenty years ago.

  • @MrMastison

Study sociology. The media has a subconscious affect on us everyday. We are exposed to it willingly and unwillingly, in adverts, billboards and the movies we choose to watch. Media culture is just a reflection of societal norms. It shows us what is expected of us in society and what we are expected to accept. How does knowing this make some one "nutz"?

  • @L0UDOPINI0N101 Because you are challenging the status quo and those who benefit from its maintenance are going to try to label you as a whack-job to try to discredit you.

  • Comment removed

  • Your comment is exactly right! It is also EXACTLY what Jean Kilborne is saying in this presentation! Very nice job proving her point!

  • @L0UDOPINI0N101 Learning to mindlessly repeat what "Sociology" tells you does not make you "knowing" shit! The way you explain things one would conclude sociology is a religion where you worship your belief people should worship your belief individual choice doesnt matter. Of course assuming I MUST do this since I cant individually choose to believe in something else more than people watching ads can choose not to buy the shit in them?! The problem is I actually DO CHOOSE NOT TO! Proving I can!
