howdy, now i'm trying to do my own dot matrix and i was wondering if i can get the code it will be useful for me.

that very nice.

there is one problem, the same was for me.

there is a trace after each line.

the solution was to shift the column enable it and then disable it and shift, enable, disable... and the trace was gone.

There are so many way of doing these things, which way is the best, easy, fun, cheap, etc... depend on your skills and that is usually the best part of DIY project, because they are specially built by you with your own skill?
