  • If I wanna creat a Hackintosh of my current PC, should I format it or back-up my files?? will it be gone?? :(

  • Man, I really want a Mountain Dew

  • Hey cpukid00--did you ever get a Lion kernel panic to this effect: Refusing new kext com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily, vX.X.X: already have loaded vY.Y.Y? I am having an issue with that here, and haven't found any definite solution on the TonyMacX86 site. You can see my full configuration in my sig file there, in the Lion Support form. Thanks!

  • @tcbetka Got it working, finally. I simply had to boot in single-user mode, then "exit" at the root prompt. Then the OS booted, and I could finally run MultiBeast. I've only run the very basic options though, as I'll need to review MB much more before applying all the tweaks.

  • your great! i think i gonna build a hackintosh, but without windows7 ;D

  • If i upgrade my ram, will it just recognize it or will i have to do something softwareor kext wise?

    thanks in advance

  • @jkmart456 Memory will be instantly recognized.

  • Hey cpukid00, would you help me understand how Screenflow exports?

Your screen captured videos are pretty good quality, so I ask... My videos look pretty good when i play them on my computer, but when i upload them onto YouTube, it gets really dull and blurry when played at 360p. Your videos are pretty sharp and clear even at that resolution.

I let Screenflow capture my screen at Smooth & Adaptive, and then export to Full-Res Best quality H.264 (multi-pass) - No Frame Reordering.

    Can you guide?

  • @mrlennybruce I've messaged you with my settings.

  • You sir are awesome! Thanks for the cool tutorials :)

  • There was a program I used aswell I believe it was called like VMware workstation or VMware Fusion... I forgot exactly what it was called but it was a nice virtual machine for hackintosh as well :)

    Good vid thumbs up.

  • I had Installed win7 in my 1TB HDD an then I installed Mac osx on my 250Gb and now windows says that bootmsgr or something like that is missing... What should i do?

  • Parallels 7 is awesome!!! I used to use VMWare Fusion 4 but the thing that I like about Parallels 7 is you can use a physical install as a VM so you can use the virual machine when you need to just transfer files bu when you want to game you can actually physically boot into Windows 7. I thought that was pretty cool.

  • one question. what do you do to get ur dock like that?

  • I'm using 3 virtual mahines on virtualbox! I gave them 1GB each! I've got 10GB!

  • A good alternative to Parallels is VMWare which I use and it works just great. And Lion does have weird issues when working with dual displays, I've noticed. I can't imagine 3 screens! I have the same video card as you do so I'm pretty sure it'd be tough. I work in the IT field in Brooklyn and the hackintosh does sys admin work just fine (although, there is no reason why it shouldn't, just saying that it's rewarding doing work FAST on this thing!)

  • hi Cpukid great videos man great help, just a quick question i got a hacknitosh and i have no more money, is it safe to partition my 1tb Hardrive in half from osx and install windows 7 on the other

  • How do you install you Windows programs after installing Parallels 7? I also assume I have to install Windows after I install Parallels 7 correct?

  • @ABC1MCE2 Yes, you need a copy of Windows 7 to install to Parallels. Once you have Windows installed, you install software just as you would on a PC. Simply double click a .exe file, or insert a CD/DVD, making sure to connect your DVD drive as shown in the video.

  • omg you have the black light !!!

  • Awesome video and teksocial looks like a cool blog :). I personally Dual Boot as I play games in Windows that arent available for OSX. OSX is for everything else :) Video Editing and general web browsing etc.

  • @djdavedoc I agree. The only thing I use Windows for is to play the occasional game. Other than that, I don't touch it.

  • i really like the background

  • Hello, I been watch this Series for a couple time and I think it's pretty awesome,I have a question: what program do you use to show the temperature and the CPU process on the top bar ? Thanks

  • @iTechVn1018 Its called istat google it :)

  • @iTechVn1018 That program is called iStat menus. I highly recommend it. If you use it on a hackintosh, be sure to install the FakeSMC.kext from MultiBeast.

  • @cpukid00 Thanks, I just bought that program and it so awesome....:D

  • @cpukid00 I more question, I did install FakeSMC.kext but iStat doesn't show my CPU and GPU temp, any suggestion ? Thanks

  • @iTechVn1018 This could depend on your hardware, but did you install the FakeSMC plugins as well? They have motherboard plugins, AMD Radeon plugins, and NVidia plugins.

  • @cpukid00 I did install Radeon plugins and it said something about unsupport device

  • slap windows in the face... love that!

  • I prefer use parallels, its much easier. how much does parallels cost?

  • @iTekkidHD I believe it's $70. If you do a Google search for "Parallels Desktop" you'll find their website. They do have a trial version, if you're interested.

  • nice!

  • @cpukid00 another great vid, shame the next one is the last until something pops up.

  • @halamonsta Dual booting from separate hdd stability will be fine, although dual booting from the same hdd, can cause instabilities and I know this personally from years ago, when dual booting windows and linux, as if anything went wrong you could loose both partitions.

  • @henrymgray You can but I personally take care with my drive i.e fully shut down the OS im using (where I can) and havent had problems losing data.

  • Hello. I have a question.

I have a upgrade version of Windows 7, so I need to install Windows XP (Also upgrade, I need to show my Windows 98 disk when installing XP) first. Is it possible to install Mac OS first on a fresh SSD and then install XP and after that Windows 7? Or does installing Windows twice screw it up?

    Thank you.

  • @minituff from what I have read it seems like that Mac OSX doesn't like any partitions bigger that 1tb. If you were using a 2tb hdd then you would have to split it into 2x 1tb.

  • Still pronouncing Chimera badly :/

  • I have two questions:

can i do both, for instance, say i bought a 2tb HD, can i put parallels on 1tb of that. Then i bought a separate 1tb, can i dual boot with that?

Also, i heard that MAC OS X, can only boot off of a 1tb or smaller drive, is that correct?

    Thanks

  • @minituff You can partition that drive however you want and dual boot with it. The 50/50 approach you described would work great. I can't confirm whether or not OS X can boot off of a 2.0 TB drive, as I don't have a drive that big. I'm sure you could find that answer on the TonyMac Forums, though.

  • how is the stability of dual booting? great video btw.

  • @halamonsta I can answer this as I Dual Boot all the time. I have no problems rebooting into whichever OS I want to use. No problems at all. Provided in Windows you install the correct Drivers and the same for OSX you install compatible KEXTS for your Hardware I cant see you having too many issues.

  • Great Video! It's kind of ironic how tonymac released their video on dual booting windows just a day before yours. Its worth running a virtual machine if you have the power, and it is very versatile with things like file transfer.
