  • Wow, why is the mic so loud, the music sounds like a record being played at 10 times the speed

Culture eh? Good thing i dont have to pay for it

  • 0:06 ?

  • This ancient Pyrrhic war dance or Serra is one of the best I've seen & I've watched A LOT. It's as if the lead dancer is not dancing to the music but it's dancing to him. I love how the man in costume in the audience puts his hand over his face as if to say "O Theos Mou!" Only thing is I wish it were a little longer video. Can you imagine how intimidating it would be to see hundreds or thousands of such men dancing this outside your fortress before they attacked?

  • One more comment here, the Lead dancer should be BRONZED and WORSHIPED That is TRUE DANCING

  • This is when the Man were Man not Fat lazy Pigs like today. These dancers were true Pontie. Study this over and over and you will feel their true energy.

  • @MrNorthernloon I agree 100%

  • omg

  • Emorfa 5*****

To ''karadeniz'' na eleipe mono,mh dinoume labes stous tourkalades

  • pontians rule this WORLD ole ole ole

  • iyi iyi

  • pure greek dances,,

they fill greek and they look greek

  • @saltadoros08

it doesnt look greek too me and I am from Karadeniz (Trabzon). Trabzon-Laz-Oflu-=Turkish!

  • @Cengolinho Sorry, but the Spartan is right. Greeks were in Pontus for about 1000 before the Turks. There is also much archaeological and anthropological history to support this. This is a Greek Pontian dance and these are REAL Greek men...

  • @saltadoros08 There is more proof that they are 100% Greek. In painted ancient vases from 500 B.C. they depict dancers holding hands exactly as they do today, and the bending of the shoulders also identical . Homer wrote that the Greek warriors danced the Pyrihios war dance outside the city of Troy before they went to battle, and other ancient Greek historians who went to Pontos wrote that they were dancing the Pyrihios war dance . The anti Greek idiots should shut it.

  • laz people came from georgia south caucasus but they are not georgians. we have also nothing in common with greeks! Our language is a completly different as greek. we´re related to Mengrelen and have almost the same language.

  • this is serra....ancient pontiak greek dance....for everyone who say that pontiaks are colxians or turks or georgians or whatever i don't know...go to your country with no sivilization and keep the words for yourself...pontiaks are were and will be GREEKS... so,if you want to change our history go to the 1800 and ask your turk, mongolian grand parent who were the pontiaks..... NA ZISEI O PONTOS....

  • what?? Greeks just arrived at that place... so called Karadeniz is majority laz and some Greeks who came there and took some Lazian or kolxetian culture, just like Argonauts went to Kolxis. Lazs are one of the Oldes Georgians they are related to Georgia and neighbour it not Greece

  • Just arrived???? Does almost 2800 years count as 'just arrived' ? The Laz start from Rize and eastwards ... How were they ever the majority of the "Karadeniz coast"? Frpm west of Sinope to Of ... the Greeks 'Pontians' were once the majority...

  • my friend, the georgians (laz) were in the inner region of pontos. the greeks populated the region and made cities that still have the hellenic names..trapezunta, sinope, kerasunta etc. the places the greeks founded their cities had no, absolutely no other foreign polulations..take care..the peace of Jesus be with you..

  • u r an ignorant man, read history

  • Georgian is a 100% greek name

Laz language is an ancient greek language(National Geografic)

    Trapzund was built by Militians

Xenofon found Greeks in the region 450 BC.But why people fight over what is my culture or yours.Just enjoy the damn thing and all people shut up and dance....

  • to all the karadeniz (pontos) turks in turkey...you are muslims and you speak turkish but dont forget your heritage..your language and culture..you have much more in comment with the pontos greeks than the inner anatolian turks..

  • I'm half Kurdish Turk and half Bulgarian Turk and I agree with you :-)

My father is from Sanliurfa (known as Odessa when it was occupied by the Greeks back in the day) - I won't be surprised if somewhere down my father's side I got greek blood - Who knows right? It's amazing when I think about it.

  • not odessa, but Edessa :)

  • As it comes to this video,it's from a Greek movie n u can even see the Greek flags in the background (00:28) and Greek actor Kostas Voutsas (00:44)... Be serious...

  • Also true

  • Lets look in real history.Pontians were Greeks that build their first cities in Pontos around 800 B.C.Pontos=sea=greek word.Horon=horos=greek word.Pirrihios, was an ancient Greek armor dance danced before even the word "Turk" existed."Turk" appears around 600 A.D.

  • True

  • so you are saying all of this ppls are greek cause of their dancing style? eh? hahahahahahahahahahahahah,, thats the funniest thing i have ever heard! you idiot

  • ur ppl is palying very slow

if u want see a real horon, come giresun and learn how is playing horon?

    ;)

  • AKRIVOPOULOS isn't that the lyra player who could play the lyra behind his back?

Can any Pontian lyra lover please give me more information about ALEX AKRIVOPOULOS?

  • This is George Akrivopoulos (not 100% on his first name) it is the brother of Alex Akrivopoulos. Alex has now past away (over 2 years in December). George made some albums with Vladimiros Haralambidis (who took his songs).

  • I want to know who plays the Lyra. Can someone send me a personal message about it?

The style sounds very much of Biçoglu Osman.

  • this is turkish folkloric dancing comes from the central asia. this is not any greek dance. some greeks that lived in turkey have brought this dancing to greece. thats all!!

  • so show me the same dance from central asia then i believe you otherwise you're a liar.

  • also tell me how money people look central asian in turkey

  • about 50% in the east

  • lyra is the oldest instrument in the known world it is over 4000 years old man from the lyra comes the lyric the ancient greek plays on it when they tell stories from war.

  • I find it hardly to believe the Lyra is the oldest instrument in the world. Drums and primitive bas instruments came way before snare instruments came.

The bagpipe came even before the lyra came.

    So your statement is false.

  • Sounds good to me....especially the Drums!

  • I love u guys sooo much everytime I see u dance I get 2 be so BROUD of YOU....PEACE 2 everyone that likes music nd dances...love from me 2 you GREECE.

  • What are you barking about Smurne? Your Turkish 'variation' is a joke. The choreographed versions of Pontian dances so favoured now by the Turks (eg Anatolian Fire) lack the subtle beauty of these dances still retained by the Greeks. As danced by the Turks the steps are far too big and obvious ... and far too WHACKY. They belong to the northeast shore of Anatolia and have nothing to do with the Turks ... They are Greek and Laz ...

  • You are kidding right? This dance was used to be played in full armor 4000 years ago with spears, so obviously the dance figures differ...

  • The culture thieves. This the Turk Game!!The TURK culture!

  • BOMBA!!!!!!

  • look the pontian ppl are a Greek or Hellenis race that was in Asia minor Black sea.. the dances u see are ancient war dances from like 2000 years ago Byzantine era... this is Ancient Greek dance.. Turks , laz and the rest took this style and made their own version of it .. it happens with lots of things and vice versa.. we all mixed but this is definately a Greek style Dance,, very old .. we are all brothers at the end ... Yasou Pontos

  • True, but what you see here on the video cannot be the same authentic ancient dance you speak of, as the Ancient dance was not played with the lyra according to my sources, but with a flute instrument.

  • yasou Pontos... Zyto i Ellada mas ke i Koultoura pou mas ekaneh gamoto.... Ellinas stin kardia ke psihi...

  • wow that was good!

  • go to the site ocena info and look

  • i learned from my grandma that our family was converted long long time ago as many families in eastern black sea coast, and now we are a big family and population.we are now turkish but i will never forget what my grandma told me and will keep those secrets and how they suffer till i die.

  • Bosphorate, original turks were of mongolic appearence, you can still find some in Turkmestan. Do they look like you? Do they look like your neighbours? Mongols have slashed eyes and mongol men have no hair on the chest. What do you think 95% of modern Turks come from? At least a 20% especially in coasts come from Greeks who for money or for fear changed religion. The deep hatred between Greeks and Turks had been for that reason... some changed some remained...

  • One Day all of us will be judged by God and we can all put our Passports in our asses, Remember Human is Human or continue in Hell. Nice Music for nice people that´s all

  • hey brother i am 100 % Turk and i like what u say. God bless all the good people it does not matther if they are Greek or Turk

  • we Turks know best Horans!

  • You are using a Greek words (horos) to claim that this is a Turkish dance. Not so smart...

  • lovely dance,100%pontian. the pontian dialect is the next closest thing to ancient greek, infact its more similar to ancient greek than modern greek itself! so its safe to say that pontians are pure descendants of the ancient greeks. also, its very reasonable for turks and georgians to claim the pontian culture as their own coz they were coexisting with the pontians for nearly 800 years up to 1921 and the violent exile of 1.5million pontians from their homes on asia minor.

  • amin even the word pontos means ocean o sea in ancient greek so do half the other places in turky but w.e

brilliont video it gives me chils

  • perfect!!

  • i am turk and i teach dance like 17 years all my family dance this ))) and i am turk

  • ilahi09 do you or anyone in your family speak rum

  • So you are dancing a Greek cance, or maybe your ancestors are Greek. This dance is more than 2000 years old.

  • I'd prefer to call it a Pontian dance instead of Greek, as Greek gives me association with Athens, whereas Pontian gives me association with Trabzon. And that's the origin of this dance, Trabzon.

  • LaZZaNoVa, I agree, even though it is believed to be a dance decedent from the ancient Spartan Victory "WAR" Dance the Pyrrhic, no one in Greece dances it today - (the Creten have their own variation)!!

  • Did anybody here say that its origin is in Athens?? You are 100% right, it comes from Trapezounda, which was a Greek city. Does it matter that you call it Trabzon and is part of nowdays Turkey??

  • LaZZaNoVa .., Greek is a suitable enough term that can encompass a whole range of different styles experienced historically by the Greeks ... including Pontian. Cretan, for example, differs vividly from Epirotan and both from Cappadocian and all from Pontian ... yet all have featured in the lives of Greeks in different regions of the Greek world ...

  • Well, I am Greek, one of my grandfathers was from Trabezunda the other from Kars. The left Turkey 1921. We still dance this dances... It is greek dance, our language is greek dilect... nobody can discredit this from us... Turks say this dance xoros, georgian says xorumi, and xoros means in greek dance :).

  • zhto tis manas sou to mouni kolomehmet pou to gamaei o gaidaros mou

  • Actually...the Lazuri dances are quite different. I'm sick of Greeks and Turks unable to admit that anyone did anything but themselves. In Anatolia Christians and Muslims speaking both languages lived together, went to each other's weddings. Politics screwed it for everyone.

  • well said my friend, Greeks and Turks would be fine if it wasnt for all the politics

  • "sazji"is absolutely right!Don't you understand that we are sharing the same culture,Greeks=christian turks/Turks=muslim greeks, ayrıca allahın cahilleri için yazıyorum bırak horonu, trabzon adı bile rumcadan gelir.Hatta sizi yine üzücem Türkiye adı bile turchia dan gelir ve latinler vermiştir bu adı bu topraklara

  • turkish brozhers we have the asame blood we arwe pontians no turk can dance these

  • you turks dont realise smthing essential:both words, horon and trebzon, are the turkish versions of two ancient greek words...u took the pontian culture from us...after u destroyed the pontians...

  • Ulaa Rum bozmalari siz ne anlarsiz horondan

    HORON = TRABZON

  • yaa hemşehrim eyvallah HORON = TRABZON, ama bu adamlar zaten trabzonlu.

  • SPEAK IN ENGLISH IDIOT..

  • ZYTHO TURKOI KAI LAZOI! horon bu kardesim herkes kendi usulunce oynuyo iste...

  • pontic or pontians greek tribe that used to live in north coast of minor asia. they have no relations with the lazuri apart from comercial and wars with them they where greeks that came from mainland greece beacuse of the raise of the population and to set colonies in this lands. for further info about my ppl and my tribe mail me and dont read shit random websites..

  • Güzel oynuyorlar. Haklarini yemeyelim simdi. Onlar kendi usullerince, biz de kendi usulümüzce iyi oynuyoruz.

  • this dance figures belong to Turks and Blacksea of people..nobody(greek)changes this real..

  • nobody except a boy who has only real turkish textbooks, that is.

Expaaaaaand your mind, dear. Learn the truth about the land in which you live.

  • ZYTO ELLAS Mana Elladara mu, One of the many Greek Styles of Dancing Pontian

  • Pontians Dance is maybe 1000 years old it is from the Ancestors of the Byzantine empire , it is an ancient Greek style of Dancing , u can tell by the Steps that this danc eis a war dance which was used when Byzantins were fighting Ottomans, read up on Pontians and u will see, pushto kapilleh

  • Actually this is a Lazuri dance of the Black Sea region. This was how they used to dance BEFORE the Pontians even came to Turkey, do a wikipedia search on "Laz" and see.

  • well.. i suppose agia sofia just popped up while the turks occupied the area yeah? its OK to admit that your forefathers forged your country with the blood and tears of pontians, armenians and georgians. but dont try and claim any dance, piece of history or ANYTHING else that is pontic, your people have already stolen enough..

  • beyinsiz fenerli bi defa onlar laz deil rum... hiyar tarlasi... daha aradaki farki bilmio... fenerliye "lazuri nenaskani" yazsak herf "lazlar anani si.sin" anlayacak oysa "lazca senin dilin" demek yaa...ama iilginc bi calisma olmus. horon deisik figurlere sahip.

  • YIti les aets dioti mas katastrepsan ta xomata ta mas.

ZHTO H ELLENIS TIS SPARTAS KAI TROA !

  • "This is an ancient greek war dance" he says. Such a nonsense lie.. Do you believe yourself? This culture only belongs to TRABZON, not to Greece. "Hungry chick supposes itself in grain depot" says a Turkish proverb. Thats right.

  • "Ye have the Pyrrhic dance as often, Where is the Pyrrhic phalanx gone?" Lord Byron ? you heard of him ?

    hellenic !!

  • Trabzon and other Pontian lands of Turkey are now the most nationalist and pro-Turkish part of Turkey.. whadda great job did the Ottomans made there.. wheeww!

  • YES THEY DID :p :p

  • Trabzon is now a Turkish city... and Pontos is an ancient empire, and will stay there where it belongs... the past... So stop dreaming about a free Pontian land orso...

  • 10 million greek ,250 million turk

    freedom pontos :)

    1453:)

  • This is an ancient Greek war dance. The same dance our brothers the Pontians of "Turkiye" still have. Wake up brothers. Be proud, you are descedants of ancient Hellenes. Together we will set our ancient Homeland free. Freedom to Pontos.

  • But your brothers in Turkiye are the ones that converted to islam. Just like my grand parents did to stay here in Turkey. I don't think you want a muslim brother :)

  • very nice... From iskefiye / Turkey...

  • en buyuk yunan :)
