Wouldn't all this change if you started using a different gauge of strings? As in the slot may be too large or too small for ideal playability if the string gauge changed?
Oh no, I have to do this to my new Fender highway one Jazz?? I thought those Fender luthiers fixed all these stuff already prior to releasing to the market :(
@53R i've heard a cheaper alternative for guitar nuts is to get a set of 'torch tip cleaners', which only cost a few dollars. though i'm not sure if they're big enough for bass slots. you might wanna google them and see.
@jabt Thank you bro. I´m looking for tools to make a brass nut for my bass guitar. Due to the nature of this material, i don´t want to use expensive tools, so i really appreciate your suggestion :) regards.
To perform this step do you have to tune the string back up to it's correct note while you make the adjustments or not? Also what do you do if the action at the nut is too low? Do you have to buy a new nut?
thank u . i'm a drummer ,but have 2 bass guitars and this helped out alot for me. Bet it will make a big difference in sound and playing 4 me. Where can i get the feeler gauges? I had them in machine shop but idk where to buy them.?????
