  • こっ!これは・・・凄い!! リッチーの横にジョージが・・・!!!

    ギランもマダ声が出てたなぁ~~~~~~ッ!

    すんごい映像thanks!!

    From Tokyo Japan

  • A prefatory comment: DP is my favorite band and Blackmore is my favorite guitarist. That said, I am amazed by a few of the comments that indicate that George Harrison cannot "hold his own" on stage with Deep Purple. It's utter nonsense. George Harrison is among one of the greatest songwriters and a fabulous musician. One of the most amazing thing about George's playing is his restraint.

  • @rizzdog Well said sir, I'm with you all the way on that. All anyone has to do is listen to Harrison's solo. The man could wail on guitar.

  • wow didn't know Gillan could scream in the 80's

  • I really wish I could shriek like Ian Gillan whenever I wanted.

  • This must be 1985, as that's when Purple reformed

  • @explodingzebras

    Sydney 13.12.1984

    Blackmore,Gillan,Glover,Lord,Paice,

    Harrison

  • Don't you know Gillan wanted to punch Blackmore out MANY times over the years. What restraint! But I think Blackmore is terrific guitar player - don't get me wrong.

  • This was all on Blackmore - kind of embarrassing with George Harrison there! I love this version on Made in Japan. Great for a dance workout - lasts about 7 min.!

  • In his autobiography, Ian said Ritchie asked Ian what key he wanted him to play in. Gillan said he could scream that song in any key! So Ritchie (in his usual ornery way) played the song as slowly as he could in the worst possible key (according to Gillan).

  • jamas me imagine que llegaran a tocar juntos

  • Ian sounds amazing

  • Ritchie Blackmore & George Harrison. The best guitarrists of all time.

  • I like the wide variety of artists and genres George played with. One day he was playing with Carl Perkins and the next one with Deep Purple.

  • @Helmut83 I so agree, and forming that wonderful group the Traveling Wilburys - DYLAN for god's sake, ROY ORBISON for god's sake, PETTY for god's sake, KELTNER on drums for god's sake and last but definitely not least, the great JEFF LYNNE. Harrison made friends throughout his career, Orbison was very early when the Beatles were on HIS tour and George an Roy found they both loved Monty Python. What a difficult friend Dylan would be, I imagine. And his friendship and love for Eric Clapton.

  • GEORGE COULD LAY IT DOWN WITH THE BEST OF THEM! STILL A ROCK HERO!! MISS YOU AND LOVE YOUR MUSIC GEORGE!!

  • wow 1984!! by that time I think the Beatles would be thinking to do somethin together again. Hustorical video I belive. Harrisn with the Purple.

  • what a funny moment. george and purple, wow, tremendous t. rexes of the rockandroll...

  • I saw deep purple play this as a sound check......& they did it lots slower than this!!!!!!! & I have been searching for just such an example .....it had mojo!

  • George Harrison and Ritchie Blackmore, two of the greatest slide guitar players, together on stage playing Little Richard. Doesn't get any better than that!

  • lucille me tiene podrido

  • i loved the way he gave that famous bow to the audience at the end. very interesting i just wish the camera was you know IN FRONT AND NOT THEIR BACKS so we could see how much fun they had doing that.

  • George Harrison is wearing the white shirt right?

  • :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  • George had thousands of friends and millions of admirers, shows what a special man he truly was...:D

  • LOVE IT!! What a shame the camera shots Sucked!

  • I was at this show !!

  • @CoffsHarbour2010 me too..I thought I dreamed it!!

  • wow! great stuff!

  • All great musician - on top of that, George Harrison is in an elevated category as are his other 3 friends who did something that few can explain ... called the Beatles.

  • WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?

    HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

    JUST KIDDING.

    ITS COOL AS SUMMER BREEZE

THANX FOR SHOWING IT TO THE WORLD MAN.

  • @edrixie George was good friends with Jon Lord

  • YEAH any question watch George play the slide guitar on Cheer down video 1991 Japan. Eric Clapton called him the best slide guitarist he ever saw. I agree after seeing that video, just awesome. George was just a shy guy

  • YEAH any question watch George play the slide guitar on Cheer down video 1991 Japan. Eric Clapton called him the best slide guitarist he ever saw. I agree after seeing that video, just awesome.

  • It's funny reading all the comments saying,

"I never knew this existed." Obviously,

one of the best kept secrets in rock history.

  • THANX A MILLION.didn't no this existed.priceless man.

  • How did this collaboration end up happening? Were George and Jon Lord already near neighbours by then?

  • LOL I never saw Blackmore having so much respect for anyone on stage as in this video! LOL. He even plays the rythym to George shred a solo! LOL

  • George was a GREAT player, he could sit in with anybody.

  • Great video, thanx for posting.

  • is this a hendrix tune? it sounds so howlin wolf/hendrix

  • In the UK (Europe?) Artists collaborates. Remember Clapton with the Beatles? Amy Winehouse and the Specials. Jeff Beck and Imelda May. It's normal over there.

  • Call Ritchie an ass, but he was so much right with Gillan!

  • I always thought George Harrison played in the Beatles. But I guess he was in Deep Purple.

  • @JustinBieberKicksAss lol? George was never in Deep Purple.

  • Omg, I had no idea that George played with Them either!

Well, not like this could change anything, cause I love this 'quiet Beatle' since I can remember, but it's just nice surprise..

God I miss George Harrison. There aren't many ppl with that kind of spirit, I've always admired Him in every possible way.. awareness of his death is f"cking making me scream and cry in the same time!

I mean, it's like.. what the hell is up with this world? why Him? such a great man.. I need damn tissue,

  • @mehsji George was a guest star - he never played as a band member

  • @mehsji Me too with the tissue....the only solace is that George was better prepared for death than 99.9% of people. And he left us Dhani who, as George said,"looks more like George Harrison than I do", and is also a great musician (ThenewNo.2) and an astrophysicist to boot!

  • I really enjoy the vdeos where we can see and listen playing together the most greatest musucians, like this, but is a shame that here they apear on their back, I know perfectly who is George Harrison because of the way that hi alwways move the body while is playing the guitar. Thanks for share us!!!!

  • George Harrison was one of the greatist guitarists ever. I know Clapton does plays the solo on "while my guitar gently weeps" but george wrote it and the other beatles had no interest in it. George got Eric Clapton to play it for him so he didn't have do it. It sucksd that the other beatles didn't help him with making the otherwise we might be hearing George play his solo every time we listen to the song.

  • Ian Paice and Jon Lord new George Harrison cause they played on one of his albums

  • I never knew these heroes of mine played together!!! Thank you so much 4 sharing this wonderful gem! This Little Richard song was a Purple staple and was usually an encore tune.

  • What a gem! I never knew George had ever sat in with Deep Purple, and I still can't fathom how some people still underestimate the fine guitar playing of the so-called "quiet Beatle".One of the best ever-just listen to any of his solos on the various studio versions of the song "Let It Be",and see if you disagree(LOL).I miss George.

  • Wow! I never knew this existed. Thank you so very much for taking the time and energy to post this for us. Your effort is appreciated.

  • @Cliner98 I agree- eorge's slide guitar stuff is amazing- even hsi ordinary plyaing in the Beatles is underrated from being in a group so great. I think Eric Clapton only became good becuase of George, Geroge did all the fnacyu guitar stuff first and Clapton played wiht George to learn his skills. Clapton's style is similar to George's even today- so it shows

  • simplemente sublime

  • Paul McCartney and Wings did a version of this too

  • I just finished reading all the comments. What the hell does loser drugie Cobain have to do with any of this?...................

  • George playing on the one of the Ritchie`s strat!!

    What a Great moment!!

  • where is this concert?

  • Comment removed

  • That's Goerge playing the first solo.Fantastic.

  • muy copadooo

  • muy copadooo

  • The great thing about George is this: you know who it is by the first note. That says a lot about his influence and ability. He was so much more important to The Beatles than most realize. Take away his guitar and try to imagine what their songs would have sounded like.

  • George was a great and at times brilliant guitarist but he could have and should have done more. I think he underestimated himself.

  • THIS SOUNDS GOOD ALSO!

  • George was neighbors with a few of Richie Blackmore in England, good buddies. and ask professionals what they think of Harrison's guitar playing, he did not need to flash or blind with his playing

  • Actually, I've seen this entire concert and they didn't play anything at the same tempo as 'Made In Japan'. That was 1972 and this was 1984. Believe me, they didn't slow it down for George's sake. Don't under rate him... he was a pro, he could keep up with the best of 'em. Btw...I'm a big Deep Purple fan too.

  • You tell em slim!....George could keep up with the best of them!

  • Thanks mate... appreciate the support! Harrison's talent & ability are too often under-rated. I'd give my ring finger to play as well... and with the diversity as that fab cat!

  • @NonStopRocker, as a guitarist (Jazz and classical background), I can say that George had the stuff. And yes, he could keep up with the best of them, from anticipating Beck's fusion (Old Brown Shoe), soul (Pure Smokey), Quiet Storm (Something, T'il There Was You), roadhouse (One After 909). And that's not even mentioning his slide work. Take a listen and look at George's last run at the closing: riffing with the best of them, indeed.

  • @slimshine953 I saw the same tour. No George. George was an awesome guitar player. Check out all things must pass album 1970. Album 3 of the 3 album set is jams with Eric and Ginger Baker. Long extended solos absolutely killer

  • @slimshine953 Yeah, anyone who tries to put down george harrison's guitar playing needs to have their head checked.

  • @1982pencil You got that right brother! Just listen to George wail a solo toward the end of the song. You can see that it's him playing higher on the fretboard, even from behind, while Blackmore is playing lower, taking the rhythm part. What am I saying, I don't have to convince you lol.

  • @slimshine953 No, you don't have to convince me! I'm a huge george harrison fan.

Oh, and I'm a girl, by the way :) (just b/c of the "brother" part :) )

  • @1982pencil Hey thanks for the reply. Pardon me for making the assumption that you're a male of the species lol. I just think of the topic of rock'n'roll as a guy thing in general, and all the debates here on youtube. I stand corrected. Long live Mr Harrison in our hearts & minds! Bye for now and feel free to keep in touch.

  • @slimshine953 No worries, but just remember that there are just as many girls who love rock, and know just as much about it as you do. I have an extensive vinyl collection, and I can play lead electric guitar just as well as anyone else (well, anyone who's not doing it professionally). Music doesn't have gender boundaries. :)

  • Ian Gillan and George Harrison on the same stage? I'm sold.

  • This is like snoop dawg with Elton john.

  • Ive never heard of this. George Harrison on stage with Deep Purple.....

  • George had to be thinking "Eric's got nothing on THIS guy!"

  • George shouldve done a heavy metal album..

  • lagatuda "each person knows who is great to himself/herself for various reasons" The next time a 11yr old tells you how Hanna Montana is the greatest you'll just sit there like another 11yr old and nod yes.

  • Just a note in response to previous posts - these so-called "greatest of" lists are by and large a pile of nonsense thrown together by God knows who to sell periodicals and create controversy. Each person knows who is great to himself / herself for various reasons. At its best, to be TOLD who is great is sometimes a decent way to become exposed to someone new and worthy of a listen, I suppose. However, you will miss out on much if these are the only things you go by.

  • this is definitely a dp show

but how this crazy thing ever came out?

anybody know the history of George Harrison appearing on a dp show?

musically it is quite a piece of garbage though

  • The band was tight but Gillan ruined it by screaming most of it instead of putting some soul into it. George dropped in on this show in Australia as he had been there earlier (or later, I can't remember) and was still in town. He and Lord were neighbors for years right up until George passed away.

  • @ Rolling Stone: You forgot Rory Gallagher from your feckin list...you idiots!!

  • Remainder from 2003 Rolling Stone 100 greatest guitarist of all time comments on #21, George Harrison:

John Lennon and Paul McCartney dominated the Beatles' revolutionary course through 1960s pop, but Harrison defined the musical character of those innovations in his explorations of studio technology, tonal color and Indian scales. At the same time, he never strayed from the terse, earthy qualities of his first love, 1950s rockabilly, and his biggest idol, Sun Records star Carl Perkins.

  • Fr R.S. writeup: As the Beatles' lead guitarist, George Harrison never played an unnecessary note. In his solos and fills, he prized clarity and concision above all things. But every note made history, from the Cavern Club R&B frenzy of his breaks in "I Saw Her Standing There" to the hallucinogenic splendor of his contributions to Revolver and the matured elegance of his work on Abbey Road. innovations in his explorations of studio technology, tonal color and Indian scales.

    remaining follows.

  • Blackmore used the sweeping technique on George Harrison. Harrison plays along as the guitarist in awe. Typical Ritchie, that was just wrong! It's not like Harrison didn't deliver, he just didn't have the chops Ritchie had.

  • Strangeone: Harrison received a significant music award as a solo artist in December 1992, when he became the first recipient of the Billboard Century Award - presented to music artists for significant bodies of work.[169] The minor planet 4149, discovered on 9 March 1984 by B. A. Skiff at the Anderson Mesa Station of the Lowell Observatory, was named after Harrison. In 2003, Harrison was ranked 21st in Rolling Stone's list of The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Blackmore?

  • Harlon, I don't disagree with you. That was my point. Though Ritchie Blackmore maybe one of the most technically proficient guitarists Britain ever produced, he's not George Harrison. To show up George Harrison as this video shows is typical Ritchie Blackmore (= jerk). Personally, I'm a Peter Green fan. You don't have to prove anything to this Beatles fan.

  • strangeones: I realize that, I was just providing info for anyone who might not know. In 2003 R.S. list, 1-Hendrix,2-D.Allman, 3-BBKing, 4-Clapton, 5-R.Johnson, 6-C.Berry 7-SRV, 8-R.Cooder, 9-J.Page, 10-K.Richards, 11-K.Hammett, 12-K.Cobain,13-J.Garcia, 14-J.Beck, 15-Santana,16-J.Ramone,17-J.White, 18-J.Frusciante, 19-R.Thompson, 20-J.Burton, 21-G.Harrison, 22-M.Bloomfield,

    23-W.Haynes, 24-Edge, 25-F.King....55-R.Blackmore.

  • I don't know if this info is correct.

I love George and most of the musicians on that list, but having someone like Kurt Cobain ranked #12 makes that list lose all of its credibility.

  • ferkain: you don't know if it's correct? The opinions of Rolling Stone writers can't be right or wrong, it's their opinion.

But it is not just their personal preference. They base their decisions on the impact the guitarist had, not on their ability to shred the neck of a guitar.

Seems you would have realized that.

  • I meant, I don't know if that's actually the list they published, with no mistakes.

You mentioned it is a list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. I think it should be called "100 most influential" and I'm ok with it. Because, imo, KC is not even an average guitarist.

  • I used their title, and copied the list from Rollingstone online.

If you have an argument with it, contact them.

I'm sure lot's of people would prefer their own list.

I don't see Andre Segovia on the list. He is the most famous classical guitarist of the last 100 years. They weren't looking at that.

Greatest doesn't have to mean the fastest players. Those who have the greatest effect on music would still be influential.

You've gone from complaining about KC to questioning the list title.

  • I haven't gone anywhere, you just didn't understand my point or I couldn't explain myself.

Anyway, we've got just different pov on this topic.

    Peace

  • Cobain and Co. did not originate "grunge" nor did they expand the vocabulary by which rock expresses and is expressed. Cobain, like "grunge" itself, is moving rapidly towards the status of footnote to a brief period. To assert that Cobain was, and is, an important influence, insults not only intelligence but also the accomplishments and contributions of truly great guitarists. Already Cobain is more remembered for how he died and not for what he did while he was alive.

  • neil young invented it =P

  • I've never even seen anyway hail Cobain for his guitar skills in the first place. That was far from his strong suit, and IIRC, Cobain would readily admit that.

Cobain is known for being a great songwriter and vocalist, his passion was nearly unparalleled at the time.

Also, if anyone tries to pull the "Nirvana was only popular because Cobain died" I'd like to point the fact that Nevermind had already sold millions of copies prior to his death.

  • the american public in general has shit taste. chili peppers and lenny kravitz as examples of mediocrity passed off as something special when they are really shit that sell millions to assholes with poor taste

  • Alright, that wasn't the point I was making.

  • @Nechepsos - Is that the thanks we get for bailing you asses (sorry, "arses") out during WWII?

By the way, the Beatles can thank American Fans (and their "sh-- taste") for making them the greatest band in the world--I'd say we have pretty good taste.

  • Comment removed

  • @grade21 @grade21 Actually they can thank Germany; Thats where they really got famous. America is where they broke up so if anything America is to blame for the demise of the Beatles. Fuckers.

  • @aaroncartlidge ...they broke up in London...sorry to ruin your fag parade.

  • @aaroncartlidge Dude, just enjoy the music and stop being a sad sack.Nuff Said!

P.S no Heil Hitler spoken here.

  • @Nechepsos LOL absolutely true brother. Could not agree more!!!

  • @Nechepsos you're an asshole for saying the chili peppers are shit!! there may be assholes who likes them but they're a great band, listen to their complete albums and enjoy it you piece of shit : )

  • well @aert88 they may be nice people an all but I won't buy their lps. They got stadiums full of morons that have done that. From what I heard/saw, their songs are mediocre at best. Yes they sell millions and they may be much better than say david guetta, bruno mars or lil wayne but they are still overrated.

  • @ferkain maybey youre just not openminded enough to understand how important Nirvana was for "us" when i was a teen..

Actually i still know nobody who sounds as disappointed about anything as Cobain sounded.

  • I doubt Blackmore did it deliberately, hell, they were all friends, I think he was just playing like "Blackmore, just like Harrison was playing like "Harrison".

  • My name is Lucille :D

  • I have NO idea who Lucille is but I love this video!!! Get DOWN!!

  • Little Richard song, Macca rocks this one if you wanna check it out

  • geroge always had a great relationship with deep purple (he was neighour of jon lord) and jon played on gonne troppo i think

  • lol really? good to know all the greatest were friends with the greats lol :).

  • I think George played one of Ritchie's guitar..I can tell by the large '70's headstock.George at the time still has the white Strat he used in Concert Fof Bangladesh,he has the ex-sonic blue "Rocky" Strat, and probably a candy apple red one,but they were all oldest pre CBS strats, with small headstock.

  • If thats the case then George adapted well to the scalloped neck

  • Comment removed

  • George have made many good solos in the past, and is regarded as a great guitarist..

  • please, don't try to tell me something about george and his guitar playing and soloing, he's one of my alltime favorites and i regard something as a perfect solo (not many of them exist in my opinion), it was just a question and i would like to get an answer, not a comment on my question.

  • Ritchie takes the lead on 24 bars from 5:28 to 6:07. Easy to tell from his distinctive sound and playing, plus you can see his left hand on the vid. All other licks and solos are George's.

  • thx.

  • George plays only the first solos

  • This a odd pairing..you're playing too loud, dont tell me what to play. george to Ritchie

  • I saw Little Richard perform this song at B.B. King's in NYC last week. It was surreal hearing from the mouth of the original!

  • Holy sh*t!

*I* was at that show too! I had no idea he was wheelchair-bound.

GREAT show. I felt very privileged to've seen him.

  • wheelchair bound? who??

  • Little Richard :(

  • This is truly great stuff!

    Thanks for posting this. :)

  • hiiiii check our version : )

  • What a riot

  • hiper very good!!!! thx

  • Incredible...

  • I never thought Harrison and Deep Purple could go so well together.

  • i was in the front row for this..George only play one song..

i also filmed this..which i will upload soon

    Trevor

  • You rock for posting this!!

  • c@@l i recently got into deep purple again after hearing how harrison lived a few miles away from two of the purples

  • Blackmore and Harrison. WOW!!!!!!

Jon Lord did play on George's Gone Troppo, the year before.

  • If this is the condert I was at I think it was 1984 .I was in the front row slightly to thye left of the stage .I was pretty pissed at the time.Venue was Sydney entertainment Australia.Gillan announce that they had a lottery and the winner gets to play with the band and he announced the winner was from Liverpool (there is a suburb called Liverpool in Sydney) Out walked George Harrison ...for me to see one of the Beatles live was breathtaking .They played Im sure a couple of songs.

  • George appeared with them at a few shows. He appeared with them in Los Angeles, i almost went but couldn't get off work. my friend later told me George Harrison played with Deep Purple that night. too bad you can't see George in this video.

  • I envy you as A Beatles fan ..I've seen McCartney ..but George rarely toured which was a great shame....and teaming up with Deep Purple is not so strange..George admired another heavy band in Led Zep...Ian Paice has also played recently with McCartney...so a great meeting of two legendary bands in various forms.

  • musicians like to play......their friends happen to be world famous!

  • Go ahead Youtube, send it twice.

  • WTF

never heard about that concert before! Bless you for uploading it! Deepurple *__*

  • WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

never heard about that concert before! Bless you for uploading it! Deepurple *__*

  • Yeah GEORGE - THE BEST . Maravilloso

  • Incredible the great george and the speed king. AWSOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • It really did happen. Remember reading about it in the paper next day!

  • that is GH

  • Looks like GH, sounds like GH, moves like GH, it must be GH!

Every musicians in the UK collaborates which is not done in the US.

Go out and educate yourself you home schooled hick!

  • what's your e-mail? I'll send some pics with George and Ritchie Blackmore on the stage, I have a pic of George with Gillan, Paice and Lord in a backstage!

Harrison wanted to appear at some Deep Purple gig in 1999, but it never happened.

THIS IS GEORGE, George was a friend with Deep Purple since they both (The Beatles and Deep Purple) have recorded their albums in the same record studio.

  • GH playing lead guitar on Purple's "Lucille"! I heard he like to hang around the local pub and jam with a few of friends including some of the Deep Purple. I never thought about these guys as a combo..but what a combo! Freakin' Harrison played with everyone! He even played guitar on "Basketball Jones" for Cheech and Chong!

  • I saw Deep Purple that week in Sydney but missed this particular gig. A mate of mine, told me about it as he had been at the concert, the day after I saw them. Man I was so pissed off that I'd missed it.

On another note, they were the loudest band I've ever heard my ears were ringing for a week and the first night it felt and sounded like I had live moths flapping around in my ears, we were so deaf after the gig that we were yelling at each other so we could hear one another. Major ear damage.

  • Yeah - and he's not even as pretty as Little Richard. Oh the irony of it all.

  • garbage vocal..check out mccartney singing lucille on youtube..wipes the floor with this fag

  • I Don't know why this comment has been thumbed, although Ian Gillan's vocals aren't garbage at all. considering he's one of the greatest vocalist in rock history, but I gotta admit, Lucille by Macca is a lot better version than Purple's version. Paul's like a white version of Little Richard actually, Ian Gillan sings his heavy stuff, while I think Paul McCartney is one of rock'n'roll's biggest pearls :)

  • Gillans voice in this video is fantastic! but in 1985 his voice became strained and tired..its sad!

  • I believe George Harrison and Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord were neighbors in England

  • this was great so long sense ive heard this righton

  • Fantastic!

  • Deep Purple members (Lord, Paice, Blackmore, Glover) and the Beatles were friends for a long time. Many people don´t know that.

  • really? wow this is awesome, Deep Purple were truly one of the first metal bands or at least one of the biggest influence on metal. I know that Paice drummed for McCartney's "run devil run" album in the 1999, but I never knew that George was a friend with Deep Purple and of course with one of the greats guitarist Blackmore. now I see how The Beatles influenced all bands including Deep Purple. they are all amazing.

  • Hey, friend... Is that true? I´ve never heard of that! And I swear you I´ve read nearly 50 books about The Beatles... I guess I should read more.

  • two ping tickie!!!!

  • my sweet lawd

  • youtube sucks at replies that was to you Shamm SHamm lol
