Mariah is the proper size for bellydancing, but a bit on the small side of the scale. Proper belly dancing weights are her size or bigger. Belly dancing is the beauty of the female form. Middle Eastern ideals are much different than American's unrealistic view of what is beautiful.

I can see why people would think this, but to me I dont think this dancer or any others are "fat". Women with curvy hips I would say have more appeal and can do certain moves more attractively than someone extremely skinny - I mean you'd have nothing to shake!

too fat or too skinny, either is bad for your health, which is the important thing- not what people think it beautiful.

i love about bellydance that if your too skinny, it can help you love your body and forget those unrealistic standards, if your over weight it can help you exercise to be more fit. if you're healthy it will be more beautiful, no matter where YOUR INDIVIDUAL healthy weight/shape is. she's not fat. but don't hate on the naturally thin girls either ^_~

I had to teach my 8 year old this the other day. If you need to be rude you might as well just be rude and not start the sentance that way .

Very nice dancing and isolations. My only suggestion is you may want to add some resistance in your arm movements to make them more fluid looking. I like to pretend there is water there to move them through. Post more vids! :)

Good costume, great bellydance hair! Simple but nice dance. And as far as the fat or skinny thing goes, I find those who find it necessary to comment negatively on a bellydancer's weight, are often jealous of the woman's dance ability and feel threatened by her in some way. :)
