Zanac for the MSX1 takes first place, and no other game will take that spot away. I love Aleste 2 and I think it's the greatest, if not the best, shooter ever produced by Compile. But I gotta give Zanac and Super Laydock the #1 and #2 spot b/c I can play those games for hours on end and never feel sick of it.
Thanks I did not know that while I am a frequent player of Daiva.
I think that in 1987 the MSX1 market started to decline and that the MSX2 market took off. In total there were more MSX2 machines sold than MSX1 machines during the whole MSX era.
This was an excellent shooter. Played it many times. I think the reason why T & E Soft decided to market this was because the market for MSX1 one games was still a very big one in 1987, perhaps bigger then the still growing market for MSX2 games.
I never knew of the Daiva connection. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for the insight. So was MSX1 computers more common than than the MSX2/2+ by 1988? I've noticed that the library for MSX1 software is much larger than MSX2/2+ and Turbo-R combined.
Here's another easter egg. In Daiva 4 begin a new game and when it ask for wardata, type LAYDOCK. You'll see a Super Laydock demo.
so many great shooters for the msx... zanac, aleste, super laydock, nemesis 1/2/3, salamander... fucking great games

2nd favorite shooter? I wonder what's your number one. Nothing tops Aleste 2 on the MSX, in my opinion.

@AFX6502 Until 1986,then Panasonic FS-A1 arrived,MSX1 had been dominant in market.
FS-A1 provide so many MSX2 for everyone who want to enter MSX world by cheap price and good implement.
Until then, even MSX 1 machines are high price.FS-A1 make revolution in MSX market.
But many publishers consider MSX1 is still bigger and not negligible.
Those strategic decision affected quality of some games badly.
