I see still likes to interrupt others and carry on, but she hates being interrupted herself. One law for others, and a different one for her. Yes, indeed she is an awful egocentric know it all who lves the sound of her own voice.
Jeez, even 34 years ago she was an annoying twit. She has no credibility simply for the fact that she referred to Dianne Haskett, former mayor of London as a "parachute candidate" when they both ran in the 2006 by-election here. - May only came to London for the by-election, and had never lived here before.
Elizabeth May is such an anti-science quack. Typical quack using the Gish-Gallop technique to bombard her opponent with a ton of dubious claims that he cannot possible refute ad lib with such a limited amount of time. I just love how she now claims that Wifi causes causes while Tweeting about it with her wireless Blackberry - even though the preponderance of evidence and scientists state otherwise.
Well, even though the rest of her party didn't do that well in the recent election, she did win the seat in her riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands. It is the first time that the Green Party has had an elected seat in Ottawa.
May called her opponent a Nazi and continually interrupted him before he completed a single sentence. She's a bully. Her facts were wrong on several points as well. Not that she allowed her opponent a chance to counter her spurious arguments.
@Agrifix She didn't call him a Nazi, she compared his disinformation to Nazi tactics of disinformation. That's a legit comparison.
And you're accusing the college kid of bullying the guy who's supporting the spraying of poison on Canada's forests -- seriously? Which offense is more egregious?
I look at the opposition parties all one crooked colitian party. The same crooked colitian party that tried to take the election vote away from the Canadian people to remove Harper as PM.
@BBQFanNo1 Psh. Except in REALITY most Canadians DIDN'T VOTE FOR HARPER. And since he's the worst PM ever and is incapable of governing, that coalition had every right to take over. That is if Scaredy-Harper hadn't run off and prorogued Parliament to AVOID the will of the people.
@zammmerjammer Eloquent - Most Canadians that voted DID vote for Harper - but excellent way to using words to twist minds. You'll make a great politician.
@thisiswilson2 Numbers don't lie. Most voters in 2008 voted for someone else -- Harper only got 36% of the popular vote. Add to that the low voter turnout and that's the support of only 22% of Canadians.
But continue to deny reality -- I realize that's the only way to be a HarperCon.
@thisiswilson2 Ha ha! Did you just compare the election of Stephen Harper to the Holocaust? ...your words, not mine...
Yes, only 36% -- that does not fit the definition of MOST Canadians. MOST CANADIANS DID NOT VOTE FOR HARPER -- how much clearer does one have to be? In fact, 78% of Canadians did not vote for Harper. So this notion that the coalition "tried to take the election vote away from the Canadian people" is laughable.
I didn't compare the two, but good cognition, you're a genius. Exaggeration is exaggeration, cloaking number with true -- but logically false numbers doesn't help anyone.
I did say "Most Canadians that voted -- again, you keep twisting words, keep that up.
We can agree on your last point -- the conservatives under Harper is a less than desirable one, but one that works in my and my future interests better than any other.
@thisiswilson2 Well, "you" must not be a woman, or an immigrant, or a single parent, or a parent, or a child, or an Aboriginal person, or a disabled person, or a reporter. If you're not, congratulations -- but even if you're not, democracy and the functioning of parliament ARE in your interests, present and future. Name me one area in which Harper has done even a decent job -- seriously, I'd love to hear it.
@thisiswilson2 Also, explain to me how evoking the Holocaust is an example of my "manipulating statistics"? More an example of poor hyperbolic comparisons on your part, actually.
A HarperCon is a term I use to distinguish these ideological Reform/Alliance halfwits from genuine Canadian conservatives and the party of Diefenbaker (or even Mulroney). I refuse to call Harper a Conservative -- it's a sickening misnomer.
If she ran for the Federal Liberal or NDP party leadership instead of the two faced hypocrite frauds Layton and Ignatief before that Dion crap against Harper I would actually vote for her.
But since the Liberals and NDP still don't have anybody better to chose from what they have now I have to vote for Harper again.
Liz May was the best Debater and knocked out Harper in the first round of the '08 Debates--according to media analysts.
Her compassion for social justice, environment and human rights for all, coupled with her legal training and intelligence....should have made her Prime Minister! The suits in there like Herr Harpo and the rest are gutless!
@njam101 I didn't want to say a credit to mankind - so I thought womankind is better and more applicable, given the circumstances. I remember the pre-political-correctness era, when being a woman wasn't quite on par, credibility wise, with being a man, in the eyes of men. But you are right, I should have said she is a credit to human-kind instead.
Elizabeth is a credit to womankind - look at the attempts to patronize her on the part of the interviewer - she keeps her composure and sticks to the facts. Right on sista!
Luckily time proves everything...May was right and spraying only prolongs spruce budworm outbreaks. People need to keep their hands out of natural cycles, and forestry practices such as monoculture, which promote widespread outbreaks, should be avoided. Hopefully next time around we manage our forests better in Atlantic Canada and not pander to industry which has left us in the dust.
putting big industry in their place back in 1978!! fiesty then and fiesty now and i love it!
she was right, how did the spraying working out for NS eh? most of the people commenting on here don't realize this isn't bitching as much as it is standing up for canadians against the self interests of industry and subsequent negative environmental impacts. those companies have long moved on, nova scotians now deal with the effects.
She uses easy catch phrases like Nazi propaganda, Salvage and Forest Management. But how do you propose to manage the forest. Have camp fires and sing Kumbaya.
A good politician listens and then finds the right time to go in for the kill. Her problem is she never shuts up to listen. She belongs on a Monty Python episode.

Elizabeth May's point is extremely disingenuous. Budworm outbreaks are cyclical. Picking any two points, one could easily pick the trough and peak of a cycle and claim that spraying is ineffective.

@icarus313 she has no chance. I know it's questionable and frowned on, but I have to vote for whatever party right now is closest to beating Harper's Conservatives. The latter I think are just too good for nothing, serving of the global plutocracy, and destructive to remain in the voter's confidence any longer. Right now, the closest are the Ignatief's Liberals.
You have to do your homework, just voting for the perceived best bet leader's choice is completely ignorant of how the first past the post system works! check out catch22 web site
@GreenThinker2007 I'm not looking to argue about voting systems here. I simply said I'm going to vote for the party that can come closest to ousting Harper's conservatives, according to who in the polls, Layton or Ignatief, come closest on the day before the election. That's all. I don't usually vote that way--I usually vote green--but this time around is different because of how crucial it is just to get Harper out.
@unfortunatebeam Think future, long future.....not just next year. If you vote Liberal, you will get more of the same just with a different face. This planet needs change and compassion and all Ignatieff will do is rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. Vote Green and maybe you will be part of that change. I have always voted Conservative (to get/keep Liberals out), but this time I'm voting with an eye on the future of our planet.
don't agree with her politics but i'll never want to see people lay off big business. they need to be watched. problem is that insurance companies don't leave stumps behind for all to see.

She comes off as an idiot during the debate in the middle of the clip. "that is fact" and "you're wrong, my facts are right" type debating.
we need more than that today. there are lots of people who can say they're right and other people are wrong. She just shouts at that guy "that is not the truth, that is not the truth" and then when she pulls out her "facts" he opens it up and tears her apart with it!
He begins to use the book as contradictory evidence for her argument.
Two points that you cannot argue:
1. We do not know the information word-for-word in the book and you cannot assume that what he is arguing is in fact directly supported by the premises.
2. The video cuts off when Elizabeth May begins to counter-argue.
Right. But I've grown up around greennicks like her and I've listened to that banderbuck all my life and I know that the counter-argument is rarely coherent and never truthful. I watched and listened to her during the canadian leaders debate and she didn't add ANYTHING to the argument that would legitimize the greennicks positions. Harper is the incumbent winner because no-one else has anything new to say.
I'm not ashamed of my "folksiness" whatever that is (sounds like a made-up propaganda word, and I try to avoid being imbibed by the propaganda machines of my culture).
I am aware of Teh Green Shift. I'm all for protecting... the world around us. But that green shift stuff is bull$#(*@. I've read their tax plan and it's crap. in the words of snoop dog (class A idiot): It ain't easy being greasy. er... green. I respect his message just about as much as I respect the "green" message
You sound a little biased, but that is no matter; fundamental differences between values are what produce election results.
The one thing your extreme bias against the Green Shift tax plan does skew is the actual argument you're making and whether or not the issue is actually "banderbuck" and "never truthful" at all.
Agree to disagree fundamentally I suppose.
Although I would say that, in comparing Canadians, those who respect the Green Shift are more numerous than those who do not.
g4sy, you think HARPER has anything NEW (!) to say. AAAAHAHAHAHAAA!!! His tired age old pro corporate, pro neo-liberal "free" market economics (there was NEVER before in history an ideology that caused so much human suffering AND environmental damage as ultra capitalist, neo-"liberal" dogma), is anything but new. I do believe its time to pull your deluded head out of your power elites asses.
Yes she is. To bad she didn't keep her looks--although one shouldn't judge her abilities for that of course. Everyone has to get older. I don't know why someone gave you a thumbs down. What's so bad with calling someone attractive?

Green Party? I'd rather see an NDP government in Canada than a Green government, not that it would ever happen. That quote from Nazi Germany? It applies to all of the environmentalists who push this nonsensical garbage as fact.
Conservatives will be in power, with another minority government. Liberals are just about done this time, because Dion is a fool.

I hope she learns to get her fact right. She also called all Canadians stupid. She should never have been elected to lead this party. She doesn't even know that co2 makes plants grow better and not enough of it and the plants die. Why is it that greenhouses have co2 generators to bring up the levels of co2 from about 300 to 1000 parts per million? She didn't even know the levels in the air.

I simply said I'm going to vote for the party that can come closest to ousting Harper's conservatives, according to who in the polls, Layton or Ignatief, come closest on the day before the election. That's all. I don't usually vote that way--I usually vote green--but this time around is different because of how crucial it is just to get Harper out.
unfortunatebeam 9 months ago
@unfortunatebeam Think future, long future.....not just next year. If you vote Liberal, you will get more of the same just with a different face. This planet needs change and compassion and all Ignatieff will do is rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. Vote Green and maybe you will be part of that change. I have always voted Conservative (to get/keep Liberals out), but this time I'm voting with an eye on the future of our planet.

Yeah I'm defending Prime Minister Harper. He's our democratically elected Prime Minister. Show a little respect please.

don't agree with her politics but i'll never want to see people lay off big business. they need to be watched. problem is that insurance companies don't leave stumps behind for all to see.

She comes off as an idiot during the debate in the middle of the clip. "that is fact" and "you're wrong, my facts are right" type debating.
we need more than that today. there are lots of people who can say they're right and other people are wrong. She just shouts at that guy "that is not the truth, that is not the truth" and then when she pulls out her "facts" he opens it up and tears her apart with it!
g4sy 3 years ago
No, he doesn't "tear her apart".
JakeVorkapich 3 years ago
Harper is the incumbent winner because no-one else has anything new to say.
g4sy 3 years ago
From what you said, if the "counter-argument" isn't coherent, then you're contradicting your entire argument in the first place.
But, putting that, and your folksiness, aside, you are misinformed; one new thing HAS been said:
THE GREEN SHIFT!
I'm sorry if you forgot about that one minute detail that might change the entire election.
JakeVorkapich 3 years ago
I'm not ashamed of my "folksiness" whatever that is (sounds like a made-up propaganda word, and I try to avoid being imbibed by the propaganda machines of my culture).
I am aware of Teh Green Shift. I'm all for protecting... the world around us. But that green shift stuff is bull$#(*@. I've read their tax plan and it's crap. in the words of snoop dog (class A idiot): It ain't easy being greasy. er... green. I respect his message just about as much as I respect the "green" message
g4sy 3 years ago

I do believe its time to pull your deluded head out of your power elites asses.

sometimes, you have to repeat to an idiot that he is lying like May does here.

Rustyshackleford08 3 years ago 2
Yes she is. To bad she didn't keep her looks--although one shouldn't judge her abilities for that of course. Everyone has to get older. I don't know why someone gave you a thumbs down. What's so bad with calling someone attractive?
unfortunatebeam 3 years ago 3
Yeah well some are partisans. She was pretty hot, age is such a cruel master to us all.
