  • Isn't there an alternative to asbestos material?

It seems over 2000 people die in the UK as a result of asbestos exposure,

  • Tell our bosses this!!!! We will be in the unemployment line!!! Don't believe this is a day to day practice.

  • try this website asbestosattorney.eu

  • thats true the workers get jerked on these jobs all the time.

  • I was jus in an abandoned apartment complexs... that has abestos... uh... i was paintballing so like,,, i was breathing heavily... uhm... any advice/help? =[

  • @xXBOOMER760Xx dud if u were playing pball there for an hour or two ur fine i wouldnt worry 2 much, ive been in abandoned mental hospitals that have it

  • @Nazizombies97 alright... cuz like... we wer breathing extremly hard in that area.. but when we left ot go play another area... (not an asbestos area) we wernt having that problem! so... i hope im fine ... after all... the symtoms dont show until at least 10-15 years after ur exposed... :D

  • @xXBOOMER760Xx yea i was in mental hospital for like an hour

  • I have question I'm about to buy a home but there is pipe made of asbestos in one bedroom

My question is should I buy this house or pass and keep looking because I believe I not going feel safe

  • @therealsteve2437 If the pipe itself is an ACM (Asbestos Containing Material) i this is almost definitely asbestos cement which is very hard and unlikely to release fibres easily through normal day-to-day use, however if the pipe is covered by asbestos insulation, lagging etc this is quite a problem as it can readily release fibres into the atmosphere IF there isn't sufficient encapsulation of the asbestos.

  • One time when I was a coke dealer I took some asbestos pipe insulation from my basement and ground it up and bagged it and then sold it to this kid and watched him sniff it. I'm a nice guy!!!

  • @KingBonacci - Ur a dumass.

  • Sheeting up is fucking dreadfull

  • One of our local middle schools has mold and asbestos that has been there for a while and all the school did was condem the buildings that had it. Is that safe?

  • Comment removed

  • Dude, you already contaminated everything. The removal process is the one that releases the most fibers. Also, when you remove asbo, it should be thoroughly wetted to minimize airborne fibers. As for the dust, you can wet it and wipe it up. Or, you can use a HEPA vac (99.99% efficiency filtration). Either way, the damage is done. I sure hope that you wore a respirator, showered out and washed your clothes.

  • i do this shit everyday......this is just regs. u actually dont wet the shit before and after, u just set up walls, tape em tight, remove what ur removin, yellow bag'em, TOSS EM, not gentle placing down.

  • Rip and tear asbestos removal allows your employer to make huge profits. They likely bid the work as if they would use all the required procedures. All the saving (mostly in work hours) goes into their pocket and the workers lose out on pay and get exposed to asbestos.

  • Mag-always prewet. Fireproofing-wet it like there's no tomorrow. Aircell- keep the water coming. Acoustic ceiling-Hey, where's the hose. But, tile, paper, transite, plaster, decking, drywall mud, joint compound, glazing, mastic (chemical removal), etc, you just go at it. I have seen it snowing during a boiler room abatement, but that was due to the other guys in containment. Me, I always wear a full-face PAPR. With a PF of 1000, I figure I am erring on the side of caution.

  • Hey Sense you do this stuff everyday is it safe when you are wearing proper protection and know what you are doing? im looking to get into this type of thing and wanna know is there a lot of risk even if you do it right? or do people over exagerate this whole thing. just trying to get your feedback...thanks

  • @darester So... You do a poorer quality job?

  • @darester if your not wetstripping asbestos insulation its incredibly dangerous. Non notyfiable like Asbestos cement (Chrysotile) doesnt have to wet stripped. Asbestos Insulation (Amosite) does need to be. Infact in the UK if your caught drystripping AIB or Pipe lagging without wetstripping or shadow vaccing you'll lose your removal license.

  • I remember as a kid when I was in elementary school..the NYC board of ed was cleaning out mine and a whole slew of other schools...there were huge cases and incident all over the city...

  • does anybody know how they remove asbestos in the ground? They starting in my backyard. stupid landlord never told me it was there

  • depends what it is and if it is fixed to something

  • i remove asbestos for a living. unless it is coming up from the ground i'd leave it buried. if it is coming up you need to contact an environmental agency to take care of it properly. since it's not your property your land lord should be liable for all costs

  • I need to remove a popcorn ceiling with asbestos. I can't afford to get it removed by professionals. Is a P2 dust mask enough if I keep the surface wet at all times?

  • A P2 type respirator is not protective enough for asbestos. Get a full facemask type with HEPA / P100 filters. You must also be fit tested and trained to use it.

  • Did you help make this video?

  • I got $36.50/hr to wear a suit to do Asbestos removal, no tie though. Also at American Standard the Kiln suits used to be bare fibres to your skin! humans learn slowley....at least the ones we hire to look after us.

  • can u explain more about that please! i was offered to do asbestos removal, and the payment is ver good... but can u tell me the pros and cons and what about the suit i gotta wear???? thank you bro!

  • Try to find some links through google search. Also, you're supposed to be able to take a shower afterward and some places don;t even offer it or if they do, it's cold water.

  • yesterday i saw 4 guys in white suits with gas masks on unloading bags of whatever renovating a school and i happen to work in front of them. i am coughing now the day after til now. it may not be asbestos, but again it could be anything.

  • it's definatly not anything to be worried about. asbestos has a latency period of twenty to fourty years before any sign of damage. it's not a bad idea to go to a doctor to get a physical every year. if you're really concerned ask for an x-ray of your lungs and tell the doctor your concerns.

  • Yeah life is good when you have insurance ha?? So I take it you have the convenient luxuries of health care, your one of the fortunate. See I cant have a physical, I haven't had one since I was 19, before I went off to college. The last doctor I had was my pediatrician, its been eight years.

  • The latency period for the earliest asbestos related disese is actually 8-10 years which is Pleural plaque, a thickening of the tissue around the lungs.

If your talking about mesothelioma, a cancer of the stomach lining then your right 15 - 40 years .

  • Um, mesothelioma has a latency period of 30 years (approx>), and it IS cancer of the mesothelium (tissues that surround organs, such as the pleara of the lungs). It is asbestosis that usually presents itself in about 8-10 years (the scaring of the lung tissue, but no cancer is present). You can also get lung cancer due to asbestos without it being mesothelioma (because, mesothelioma is a cancer of the mesothelium exclusively).

  • get help and information and please help victims:

  • Yeah, I think I'd get checked for this. There are law firms that advertise on tv (you've probably seen them) and I saw one that has many years experience but it was two names, the B....and Budd. I didn't catch the first. They say you can take it home on your clothes, even in the washing machine....scary.

  • I had the number of a large national law firm dealing with lawsuits. I'll post it when I find it. They can direct one to the right med and get a test. Sue the krap out of the companies!! Those fibers can get on your clothes and your family can get it.

  • Yeah, you can call one of those big law firms and they can direct you to the proper medical facility for an evaluation. I misplaced it but it's here somewhere of a large firm been around for 30 years that can help you out. Saw it on tv, called ...and Bach or something. If I find it I'll post it. But man, if you even think you have one of those fibers in you, get to a doc and get your money owed to ya! That stuff gets on clothes, etc. and families can catch it.

  • i had to work around that shit when i did electrical work in this building that was built in the 20's but anyway i did not want to create any dust because we did not have any good gear

  • I have a lot of compassion for the guys/gals that have removed asbestos. There's so many companies that don't follow all proper procedures. The water for the shower isn't even warm. God bless these people and I pray for those that will fall in later in life cause of the companies that didn't provide for them properly. They needed jobs and did what they had to do.

  • fuck man i worked for the conservation corp all i got to have was a freaking mouth mask but i had normal clothes on i am so pissed i hope my lungs are not damaged
