When the Montreal Screwjob took place I was 5 years old. When I saw it, I wasn't sure what had happened, just that it was Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon's fault. I hated them for the whole 12 years. Even when Shawn Michaels was a face, I still hated him much like the Canadians did. Then, in 2010, I was 17 years old and I saw this happen. For the first time in 12 years, I cheered Shawn Michaels. Though they had it worse, they aren't the only ones who held onto it for 12 years. The fans did too.
Every word Shawn said was the absolute truth, the only one who ever screwed Bret was Bret......he did disrespect the industry and Shawn did do what Bret refused unprofessionally to do.... Legacy to Shawn is different to what it is to Bret and you can tell that they never quite patched things up as Shawn even mentioned Bret in his farewell speech.....WWE/WWF is more than the Montreal screwjob its simply that Bret wont let that incident go and its overshadowed his career before and after PERIOD!

It's well known that Vince was paranoid as shit, and didn't trust anybody around that time. Then you have your world champion wanting to leave as Champion? Vince's thinking is understandable. I'd say everyone involved was right, and it just plain unfortunate that the true big cuase of the whole thing was TRUST, and the lack there of.
