  • Vampire killer was for the MSX 2. I prefer it to the nes version. It was easier.

  • sweet! Castlevania on crack speed! I love it!

  • The very first CastleVania , Vampire Killer for the MSX home computer.

  • @xXbelmontXx actually, the first Castlevania game was on the FamiCom Disk System, then it was on the MSX, Then on the NES outside japan

  • Vampire Killer is a mere prototype to Castlevania; just like how Medal of Honor Vanguard is a prototype to Medal of Honor Airborne. They put these prototypes on the market to test products briefly and fix the many problems people find with the game. As an example, they probably decided to change the name to Castlevania.

  • However, they decided to ignore fixing the controls... ;)

  • the guy who is playing is just horrible.

  • the game play, levels, and music are all nearly identical to castlevania, the only difference i see is keys and chests and buying stuff.. . and not falling to your death by touching the bottom of the screen :p

  • i find it truly amazing how these tracks born the same year i was have endured so long. i remember being enthralled them at age 3, i know lots feel the same. also what an interesting origin for the series, a pseudo-adventure game, unlike the action platformer we're all so familiar with.

  • Jesus christ. Poison Mind always catches me off guard every time I hear a new rendition of it. I always expect to grow sick of it, but I'm not, strangely enough. It's that good.

  • 0:36 - 0:42 Had a flashback of Robocop..

  • Very interesting! I've never seen this one before. This plays out more like an Action/RPG of sorts with all the key collecting and item purchases...

As for the music... I like that the samples are clearer, but I feel like there were little things that had to be sacrificed musically. I think my preference is for the NES version.

  • True Enough,

The Nes and MSX seem to usu break even with one another, in terms of quality. I liked the graphix better, but the NES-music seemed to have creepier effect..or something.

  • I love the MSX, the sound on many msx konami games featured a chip for improving the sound... not sure in this case. Oh and yes vampire killer in PC and MSX is the Castlevania we all know for NES (or at least it belongs to the same serie). Some tunes featured in this MSX version are included in all castlevania ports, but the one I love the most is DraculaX for PCEngine CD.

  • This is Castelvania for NES as others said.

  • It isn't. Different game.

  • It may be a different game, but it bears a striking resemblence to Castlevania.

  • Don't get me wrong, it's definitely in the Castlevania series, but it's just that the way you stated it, it was as if I had confused this with the NES title.

  • I prefer the instrumentation of these tracks to the original game, but my nostalgia holds the original songs close to my heart... especially since I prefer the NES ending theme to this.

I think this is the last Castlevania that never made it to the US, that said I hope to see it on the Virtual Console eventually. Or even better, have it remade for WiiWare!

  • I have never seen this game in action. I dare say it's slightly better than NES. Sound is a little meh though. Thanks for the Castlevania love, though!

  • isnt it castlevania...nvm

  • Kinda the same, but kinda different too.
