You underestimate your playing ability. I don't think you don't butcher the songs at all. They may not be the way jazz guitarists would play them but your alternating bass style deifinitely gives them rhythm.
I just listen to old swing music all the time: as it's incredibly melodious and rhythmic, it sticks to one's ear - so from time to time I try to find the chords on my guitar. Though it's great fun, I know I slaughter most songs (but these standards have seen worse, even....)
I've watched several of your videos and you are a really good guitar picker. There is one thing I noticed and I don't mean to say anything bad but your right hand thumb seems unusual. Is your thumb extremely long or has it been broken or something? Just curious.
I just listened to this one again....You touch chords that explode like brief flashes against a purple background....YOU play them; we can only hear them.
I know you play by ear....great job on the middle eight chords. It seems like a simple tune, but it really is a hand full. (But not for you). So entertaining. Really really fun. THANK YOU !!
Nice. I developed a Travis picking version but like your muted method much better. I think I might try to merge the two styles. I will record and post my current version tonight.
Thank you very much, Tomtowle! I'm looking forward to watching your version, and I'm very interested about the chords you'll use, since mine are rather basic.
A very nice take on a tune that I have always been afraid to take on! You play it with such ease and flair! As I have told you many times before, I wish I could play with your style and melodic drive! 5's from me my friend!
Thank you, Larry! You're more reasonable than I, but you'd be much better equipped to take on this tune (in spite of your humility), considering your knowledge of fingerstyle.
I must say, that was some really interesting bass alternation. Awesome job, man.

Where did you learn all these songs? Do you just pick them up by ear? I like most all the songs you play.

Thanks you so much for your appreciation and interest, Chaslie45!
My right-hand thumb is a little curved backwards, but otherwise of normal length; it may be an optical illusion due to the camera.

This long shout means a lot to me, especially from a guitarist like you. Thanks!

Fantastic. I love your muted chords/rhythm. Reminds me a Luiz Bonfa thing I'll send you.
