@stradag21 I don't know if you know this, but he did take a speech class at Laney College before he made his HOF speech, so somebody got in his ear to let him know that he needs to improve on his speaking. He also admitted that he has a problem with the letter s when he talks, & he even said he is nervous when it comes to speaking, hence the speech class. He didn't speak arrogantly or talk in the third person, & he let his daughters know to not end up like him speaking-wise, & they are succesful

@stradag21 Keep in mind public speaking is the number one stated fear, even more than death. Some people have real trouble with speech, it can be part of how their brain works. Even though I strongly disliked GW Bush many said he was stupid because he sometimes mangled his speech... but he isn't stupid either. I met Rickey when I was working for a minor league team in my teens, and he was down rehabbing... he did not come across as dumb in person. He was an extremely intelligent player.
